This place is huge, even by American standards (hey, we are big people). There was a good variety of beers on tap and an even better selection of popular bottled beers. The drinks were all surprisingly affordable and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. It's literally a block away from my apartment, and even before I knew what it was, the murals on the outside attracted me. Every passing glance I gave it on a run, or just walking down the street, made me long for the homey, cozy quality that everyone inside seemed to be experiencing. The decor inside is very much like my family's living room, and there's a separate smoking room as well, which I really appreciate it. The drink menu is not extensive, but has enough variety to give me exactly what I want. Currently, in the Christmas season, there is a fully adorned Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling in the corner. The clientele seems extremely varied. Yes, there are your typical, hip, Neukölln 20-somethings working on their freelance editing with a glass of wine and a Tasse of Kaffee, but I've also seen older men with whitened hair, and families (albeit ohne Kinder). This lends even more to my vision of Laika as my parent's living room. I haven't had the coffee there yet, and I haven't been to any events, but my guess is that, like the rest of the menu, it's varied, reliable, and cheap.

I visited on a Wednesday off season , so the weather was a bit cold, and therefore there was no line or need to wait. There is a cover to enter, and it is hard to find, but once you are there it is totally worth it. The decorations , furniture, and ambiance are great and I really appreciated the cell phone ordering system using the pager. It makes everything SO MUCH EASIER. no need to fight your way to the bar to get the attention of a server and wait for him to make the drinks, you just order, pay and wait for your buzzer to let you know when to get the drinks from the counter. Later in the night when the weather got colder we moved inside and were treated to a very fun DJ with great music and an inviting and lit dance floor. Definitely a must for a night out!

It was on the rooftop of a parking garage attached to a mall, and it was a little adventure getting there! We went on a weeknight around shortly after sunset, and it was such a vibe!! It felt a little sketch walking up the ramp of a deserted parking garage but it was all part of the allure, and once we got up to the rooftop, it was a beautiful space decked out with colorful lights, plenty of seating at communal table, and a vibrant crowd. The city views were amazing and it was definitely a highlight of the trip!
