Burritos

Great spot for Mexican food in the area! There was a small seating area inside and a few picnic tables outside. Ordered online and picked up in store - estimated pickup time was pretty accurate. We got a variety of items - tacos, chips and guac, burrito, quesadilla. Chips and Guac were a favorite. Everything was packaged very nicely - nothing was crushed, everything was warm, which was a plus for a to-go order!

Birria Trio Tacos & bottled Horchata

I have been to their Dorchester Ave location a few years ago when they were selling birria taco DIY kits. I vaguely remember it being kind of disappointing but I didn't let that experience affect me from trying this location when they first opened. I was honestly quite excited when they first opened because this is the first taco spot to open in town, located on Central Ave, so I was hopeful that this would end up being a great, convenient taco spot to go to without having to go out of Milton. I had great talks with the owner, who actually is planning to open a second location in East Milton Square, replacing what was known as "MHOP" (Milton House of Pizza). I tried their birria tacos trio and horchata which was prepackaged in a bottle. The tacos had great color and were garnished beautifully with onions and cilantro. The looks of the tacos were deceiving and taste-wise, they were extremely bland and meat was drier than sandpaper. The tortillas of the tacos were flimsy, as well, tasting super doughy rather than crispy. It was like they dipped the tortillas in the consommé and didn't bother actually frying it The horchata was not half bad though but it is also difficult to mess up horchata. The tacos I would rate a 1/5. Overall, I bumped El Barrio to a 3/5 because the staff and owner seemed really nice but the food itself was not enjoyable and one of the worst I've tried in a while.

Some of the rice is hard. I had to add pico to try to soften up

I used to love El Barrio's food, but lately, the food has been trash. If you order tacos, make sure to ask for some fresh ones, or they'll give you stale ones. The rice is hard. I don't think they care about the freshness of their food at certain times anymore

Once you get to the entrees, you'll find that their portions are very generous! We enjoyed their Fajitas Honolulu the most. We also tried their Birria Tacos but found the meat a little dry unfortunately. Not bad, just not the best dish of the night. Also, the staff here are incredibly nice! There is a very homey & warm atmosphere here. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.

My son got the carne asada burrito and really enjoyed it as well. Dessert was a highlight. The churros were fresh and fluffy, served with both caramel and chocolate sauce. The tres leches cake was amazing. I don't usually like horchata, but theirs was creamy and perfectly sweet. Service wasn't the fastest, but it was a busy Friday night, which is understandable. The restaurant decor is cute, colorful, and inviting. Overall, a great spot and definitely worth a visit.

I looked around and its very quaint seating at the bar and booths around. I would assume there is outside seating during the spring and summer months. I ordered the Fajita Chimichanga (chicken). There doesn't seem to be an area to sit if you are waiting for take out or at least I wasn't offered a place to sit, no biggie on my part. I was pleasantly surprised how quick my food was brought out by, I think, the manager or owner? Also very friendly. So friendly in fact that when he initially came out he went over to every person in the restaurant and greeted them personally. (It was quite early in the day around 11:45 not a whole lot of people there, but still a very nice thing to do) I got my food brought it back to my office. I was shocked how big the portion was The chimichanga was large and came with refried beans, rice and lettuce, a small side of guac and sour cream AND a small lunch bag full with chips and a small container of salsa. It tasted amazing, now I'm a big guy and can certainly eat and I couldn't finish without feeling like a Macy's thanksgiving day parade balloon!! LOL Now, I won't lie, it was expensive for me at $19.50+tip its very rare that I spend THAT much on lunch for myself alone so I wont be doing that again soon BUT Needless to say it was delicious and when I do go back I will eat in to get the full dining experience.

While he was waiting they offered to comp our meal. Thank you for making it right! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!! I ordered delivery from sombreros this evening. The mark up for ordering online was exorbitant. Then, when the delivery arrived all that was in the bag was chips and salsa. The delivery driver said it was the restaurants fault and we had to call the restaurant. I called the restaurant and they said they would re-fire the order. When my husband got there to pick it up they told him that it was the delivery drivers fault and they would not re fire the food. This is a huge scam. They stole $100 from me. I was a loyal customer, but I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. I will order from Wonder right next door instead.

I will say my order took about 10-15 minutes longer than anticipated (timing provided online) Inside the restaurant is spacious and clean. Queso fries : 9/10 I added ground beef and tomatoes (and sour cream when I got home) because I wanted to remake the border fries from Taco Bell, and these were amazing. Fries could've been a little crispier and tomatoes spread out or on the side so the fries don't get soggier. Chicharron taco 4/10 Nothing special and pretty dry and lacking flavor Chicken shrimp steak fajitas 8/10 Everything was seasoned very well but the shrimp was a little over cooked. The rice Spanish rice they provide is flavorful along with the black beans.
