First time here and unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back. The location itself was well kept and they have a few picnic tables outside. I ordered online because I needed to be in and out, and my order was ready when I arrived. The staff was also very friendly. I ordered the birria tacos, chips and queso, and chicken empanadas. The empanada was a huge disappointment. It was extremely dry and didn't have much flavor at all. The birria tacos were okay. The meat itself was good, but there were way too many onions for my liking. The chips and queso were honestly awful. I took one bite and ended up throwing the whole thing away. I wouldn't even consider it queso -- it was more like cheese water. I dipped one chip in it and it was so watery and tasted so bad that I immediately tossed it. There's no indoor seating and no bathroom, which isn't necessarily a dealbreaker for a quick takeout spot, but for almost $30 for the meal, I definitely expected more. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't worth the price for me. read more

Moving up north from Florida, my expectations for solid Latin cuisine were low. I was excited to see a restaurant with birria on the menu, but for my first take-out order I opted to stick with a classic burrito and an empanada. Be warned that it's street parking only, and the restaurant is tucked into a little corner plaza. But inside, it smells delicious, and my order was ready immediately when I arrived! The burrito was a quintessential burrito--warm, dense, and filling. The ingredients were very well-proportioned and very fresh, and I'll definitely be ordering another sometime soon. (No picture, because I inhaled it too quickly.) The empanada was nothing special; I likely won't get another, because the filling was just okay and the crust wasn't particularly flaky. It looks like whatever bugs with the website folks have mentioned have been ironed out, because it was easy for me to use, and I love being able to support a business directly through their site rather than using an aggregate app like Grubhub. Looking forward to coming back for more great Mexican food! read more

Came here for a quick lunch bite! They have parking available to the side of the restaurant. They don't have much seating because I believe it's mostly a take out place but we were able to sit by the window. I got the chicken trio and chips and queso. The tacos itself were filled to the brim with chicken and vegetables. The sauce was a great additional providing a very juicy and tangy taste. The chips has seasoning on them which was different and I liked. The queso was simple and came warm. The service was very fast. read more

Great spot for Mexican food in the area! There was a small seating area inside and a few picnic tables outside. Ordered online and picked up in store - estimated pickup time was pretty accurate. We got a variety of items - tacos, chips and guac, burrito, quesadilla. Chips and Guac were a favorite. Everything was packaged very nicely - nothing was crushed, everything was warm, which was a plus for a to-go order! read more

Birria tacos no doubt. Queso leaves alot to the imagination. Chips are freshly made.

Update to my previous review. After months of not supporting El Barrio we thought we'd give them one more try. Disappointed again. They constantly manipulated and update their app and website and when I signed into my account, it had no previous order history which we used to be able to use. Placed an online order anyway and were given a pick up time. We checked the progress multiple times and the order ready for pick up never changed. Saying the order was not ready. We finally just gave up went down to pick up our order and it was sitting there cold. So much for trying to keep up with Technology. It used to be when you placed an order to get a text when the order was ready as well as checking the progress on their app. In this case, it never showed that it was completed but sat there unattended for 20 minutes or more. read more

I have been to their Dorchester Ave location a few years ago when they were selling birria taco DIY kits. I vaguely remember it being kind of disappointing but I didn't let that experience affect me from trying this location when they first opened. I was honestly quite excited when they first opened because this is the first taco spot to open in town, located on Central Ave, so I was hopeful that this would end up being a great, convenient taco spot to go to without having to go out of Milton. I had great talks with the owner, who actually is planning to open a second location in East Milton Square, replacing what was known as "MHOP" (Milton House of Pizza). I tried their birria tacos trio and horchata which was prepackaged in a bottle. The tacos had great color and were garnished beautifully with onions and cilantro. The looks of the tacos were deceiving and taste-wise, they were extremely bland and meat was drier than sandpaper. The tortillas of the tacos were flimsy, as well, tasting super doughy rather than crispy. It was like they dipped the tortillas in the consommé and didn't bother actually frying it The horchata was not half bad though but it is also difficult to mess up horchata. The tacos I would rate a 1/5. Overall, I bumped El Barrio to a 3/5 because the staff and owner seemed really nice but the food itself was not enjoyable and one of the worst I've tried in a while. read more

El Barrio opened another location in Milton, across the street from the Central Ave Red Line stop. This casual takeout restaurant serves up tacos, burritos, salads, bowls, chimichangas, tortas with fries and other Mexican foods. I stopped by El Barrio in Milton recently for takeout. The kitchen was busy and I was told that it was online ordering only through Revi (with added service fees) or with the touchscreen kiosk next to the counter also under the Revi platform, which charges service fees. I placed my order at the kiosk for a Chicken Taco Salad ($11.49 plus tax & fees/menu board was $10.99-old price?) which came out to $12.95 before implied tips. I waited about 9 minutes for my order to be ready since there were about 5 orders ahead of mine. The Chicken Taco Salad had a mix of lettuce, beans, pico de gallo, chipotle mayo,, chopped grilled chicken, and a few tortilla chips on top, enough food to finish in one lunch. Overall, it was okay and I would not travel out of the way for this. read more

I have had some good experiences here in the past, but today was the second time in a row I did not get at all what I ordered. The receipt was correct, but the contents were not. read more

Come for the canned cheese, stay for the surly service. Everything tasted like it was shipped in from Sysco and dunked in a salt mine. An insult to real Mexican food. read more

awful gave boyfriend and i terrible food poisoning! avoid at all costs. the chicken was bad or contaminated in our burritos.

nunca fallan, la comida y atención increíbles, volvería cada día sino estuviera tan lejos.

Twice a week I attend a tai-chi class until 8 pm on Adams St. near El Barrio and have made it a habit to get a chimichanga every Thursday night on my way home. Whether I order one with beef or chicken, I am always satisfied with the tasty serving, big enough to relieve my hunger. I have never been disappointed with the food, the prices, the cleanliness, or the friendly service and recommend El Barrio as a welcome establishment in Milton. read more

This place is so great!!! The prices are reasonable. The food is tasty. They prepared it quickly. Happy they came to Milton!

I used to love El Barrio's food, but lately, the food has been trash. If you order tacos, make sure to ask for some fresh ones, or they'll give you stale ones. The rice is hard. I don't think they care about the freshness of their food at certain times anymore read more

First experience was good. Subsequent experiences not so good. Tried the queso and it's pretty inedible. Always get an auto response text saying food will be ready in 10 minutes. It's always 30 minutes. Orders have been incorrect here and there. Think we're done for a while. read more

Found a big staple buried in my bowl (which ended up in my mouth). Restaurant didn't seem concerned when I called about it (they said it probably fell off the bag, even though it was buried in the dish in a closed bowl with a lid). The hostess told me there was no manager on the shift that night but someone might be able to follow up and potentially refund just the bowl. We ordered dinner for the whole family and had to toss everything. Not worth puncturing something over. read more

The trio tacos were very good and the guy behind the counter seems pleasant enough. But beware, if you order takeout, they automatically add a 20% tip, essentially a hidden 20% upcharge. Since I ordered from my car, ran in and grabbed my food, the mission was supposed to be quick and easy because I was starving. I don't feel as though it should be incumbent upon the customer to review the receipt for a simple takeout order. Realizing I "tipped" while viewing my bank account the following day is a pretty presumptuous policy. What's next, MacDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's and local pizza joints are going to require tips for takeout? Not good. read more

Milton needed this restaurant. There is nothing here and El Bario was a great addition. the menu is quickly growing and I love the chips and guacamole. overall great vibe and now there is some outdoor seating. love it. read more

Worst queso I've ever had. Inedible - runny, watery, tasted like squeezy cheese...and burnt on top of having a terrible texture and flavor. The chips were extremely stale (think "bendy" instead of "snappy"), as well as having been rolled in some dry spice mix that made everything far worse. The salsa was the only decent part of anything. Would never recommend and will never be coming back. read more
