    Beef tacos

El Barrio II is Plainfield's best Mexican restaurant. Louisa is a sweetheart and makes the experience so friendly and kind. I prefer the chicken or beef but everyone I take here loves everything they get. 10/10 must try

Al Pastor Burrito. Half of a junior portion. More than enough!

Recently tried El Barrio II and was very pleasantly surprised. The Al pastor burrito is delicious. I've lived in Plainfield for two decades & never tried this place. It doesn't look like much from the exterior but the interior is cute and clean. The staff is polite and helpful, and the portions & prices are great. If you haven't tried it, definitely stop in soon.

Found my new go to in Plainfield! The tacos were great. The Al Pastor was very very good, House made chips brought fresh to the table. Service was good, the decor on the inside is very nice. I love the chalkboard, the donkey prints, bar height seating by the window, no patio, carry out available and kid friendly.

I am afraid to write this review for fear this "secret" gem will gain popularity. Yet - I have to write something about this place. The food here is absolutely delicious. My favorites are the breakfast burrito with chorizo and the Al pastor tacos. Everything I've had is tasty, but those are my go-tos. Their red sauce is awesome too. There is table service, but I wish they would just have folks order at the counter and deliver the food to the table. It might be more efficient for the small wait staff who get pulled in a lot of different directions.

Recommend sampling various tacos (Chorizo, Al Pastor, Steak etc). Best with Traditional Style with soft corn cilantro & Onion. Good Value on Taco Tuesday specials as well. GF options available.

Food not very good and their customer service needs work. It's standard that employees should greet people when they come in.

From workers to celebrating families. They just got a new menu and prices of course have gone up but that's understandable. They added another screen advertising drinks, etc that are too big and obtrusive for behind the counter. Bring the tone down. When getting in to pickup the food and after giving the name the order was in. A young lady in black (hostess in training maybe?) immediately went to get the food. The "cashier/hostess" took my card and inserted the chip, then immediately swiped the card and without missing a beat says abruptly "You need to give me another card!" And said it so nasty. I then asked if it was an issue with the chip? She then turned the card over to type in the number so fast.... Now mind you, I have in Permanent Marker on the back of the card "Ask for I.D." But she again says loud and Nasty "You need to give me another card!" "Our reader can't take this card!" All the while trying to look in my wallet. I told her the card I handed her IS the card I am using! I took the card and as I wiped the chip area with my hand; I also told her I just used the card earlier and to try it again. This time the card reader that she'd said wouldn't accept my card began printing...I asked "Did it go through?" She asked if it was the same card and I verified it was the same card. While signing the receipt I asked for the name of the manager. She immediately picked up the phone to take an order. I looked at the other young lady and she said she was new there. (How do you work at a place...new or seasoned employee and Not know who the manager is?) I took my copy of the receipt and walked toward the kitchen and asked the gentleman for the manager. One of the servers went in the kitchen to bring the manager out. I explained the issue to the manager and the other employees in the immediate area. I told him that her customer service skills are horrible and that she should Not be at the door since she does not need to "communicate " with their customers. I also told the manager I was going to post this Yelp Review. Don't turn customers into non customers! In this industry, and really in life in general, things are going to happen that are unexpected or unintentional... but it's how you react and respond to those things to rectify them that define you as a company. The restaurant's response of "we've been doing this for 13 years" certainly doesn't fix my dried out meat, browning lettuce and foamy, fermented salsa. Having worked as a catering manager, I am well aware of the markup percentages on food, so when they finally called me back to make a gesture towards the inedible food, I was again disappointed that you thought $50 on an almost $400 bill, was fair, especially considering AT LEAST 1/3 of each tray had to be thrown out! They use the most shallow pans I've ever seen (in the pic, it's the pan all the way to the right), they cut the steak into tiny pieces and don't put any sort of liquid in the pan so OF COURSE, it's going to get dried out sitting in a chafing dish! Bottom line to other potential consumers: I'd go somewhere else! The amount of food you get for the price you pay=terrible value of your money! Management DOES NOT stand behind their product and are extremely defensive when something negative is brought to their attention. They clearly do not care about the satisfaction of their customers.

FUNDIDO FOR YOU & ME…read more Melty cheese is always a hit, and Burritos Mi Tierra does it better than most. In picking our date nights, my wife and I alternate between trying new places and revisiting a dozen or so "greatest hits". If we find ourselves in the mood for tried-and-true margaritas, we'll come to this family-owned restaurant in Romeoville about a mile south of I-55 on Weber Rd. Their house chips & salsa are awesome--the green salsa is milder while the red salsa is hotter. You can get a large margarita frozen or on-the-rocks ($15), but expect them to be strong either way. My wife enjoys their Michelada ($9), a drink similar to a bloody mary that's made with beer instead of vodka. We always get the queso fundido con chorizo ($10.75), a marvelously greasy appetizer that comes with corn or flour tortillas. Sometimes our tummies are fine afterwards, sometimes the grease goes through us like an angry lightning bolt. It's so good I'll happily suffer the consequences the next day, IDGAF. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 4.5 Tacos al pastor ($3.50/ea) get a thumbs-up, however the tampiqueña ($22) was a little disappointing. I know skirt steak is generally a tougher cut, but this was greyer and chewier than what I've gotten at other places. It was served with an enchilada, rice, beans, lettuce and tomato. The best thing on the menu is unquestionably the burrito suizas ($11), a gigantic 1-1/2lb burrito filled with meat, beans, veggies and sour cream with melted cheese on top. It's as tasty as it is massive and will feed a hungry person for two meals! Their vanilla flan ($4.50) is pretty good, too. * TL;DR * Burritos Mi Tierra is one of our favorite Mexican spots in the area, and the unexpected closure of Naperville's On the Border (R.I.P) means we'll probably come back here more often. Service has been consistent, the décor is cute, and their margaritas are some of the best around. Queso fundido and burrito suizas are standout dishes, authentic and fairly-priced. We hope these guys remain in business for a long time! Muy recomendable.
