If ordering takeout you should plan according but we dined in and served promptly with chips and three salsa's - think Burrito Parilla. Ordered steak burrito - massive and final product grilled on the flat top so inside does not surprise with cold pockets. 5/5 Also Al Pastor dinner. Not typical pastor off spit but they integrate pineapple. 4/5 taking a star off as pastor does not need/require melty cheese on top. Simple onions and cilantro are traditional. I typically only go here on rare Sundays when I want a burrito and La Nueva Taqueria is closed, but I don't think I'll be doing that anymore. The food is great, very tasty, and has good portions. I usually order the chicken tacos with the beans and rice. The chicken is very juicy and the beans and rice are delicious. I've never ate at the restaurant before but I always order it through Uber Eats. If it tastes amazing through delivery then I can't imagine how good it is at the restaurant. Not sure where all of these positive reviews come from. Asked for a steak burrito and there was so much lettuce stuffed inside the burrito I might as well have asked for a salad. The steak was flavorless and fatty. My wife got a quesadilla dinner, $16???? The authentico nachos, $15????? For like 13 chips? I tried al pastor tacos, they get the added star, they were good. This business has been getting worse every time we go there. The service in the front is so careless and doesn't seem like they want to be there. We have issues with quality of food and getting a complete order. The last time we ordered a couple dinners and when arriving home one dinner was wrong and another was not even packed. After calling up to complain we were told to come pick up the correct meal and it would be ready. Had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the correct meal while my dinner sat at home getting cold. Sorry to say we will not be returning and do not recommend this restaurant. read more

I love this place! It's certainly the best Mexican food we've had in Plainfield. The fish tacos are to die for. My friend has been working his way through the menu on subsequent visits and has loved everything he's tried. The inside is clean and bright. Staff is great, and the homemade salsa is outstanding. Amazing!! I haven't found a good authentic Mexican Restaurant in the area until now! The red enchiladas were just like my mama makes them. So good! The Jr Burrito of Milanesa was also very good. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. It's small but we were able to dine in. So happy we found this place!! read more

Got carryout from El Barrio II last weekend and really enjoyed it! Authentic Mexican cuisine. I had the taco dinner and chose carne asada and was not disappointed. The tacos were small, but generous on meat- only able to eat 2 out of 3. I especially loved the hot sauce they gave to go with the tacos- holy cow! Fantastic! Also got the chips and salsa and really enjoyed the homemade salsa. The refried beans and rice that came with the taco dinner were standard fare but still very good. Great new spot just opened on Monday. They serve authentic Mexican food with some modern options. Their Al pastor is the best I've ever had. As well as their Barbacoa. Burrito bowl was amazing and I didn't even have to beg for a large portion like I do at Chipotle. Owner was real friendly and willing to take time to ask us how everything was. If I could give it zero stars, unfortunately I would. There was music playing from the television in the front competing with the music that was even louder coming from the kitchen area in the back where the guys were actually having quite the party. There were two bottles of tequila under the pass-through window which kept getting passed back-and-forth between the high school age girls that were working there into the kitchen and seemed like it was all a big joke. The bigger joke was that I paid $27 for my Carne Asada steak. Please note there is no soda fountain so if you want soda to drink with your meal, it's $2.50 per can. Service didn't exist. Someone else came in there while we were there and was also shocked that he had to pay $37 for a for his dinner for one person. The prices are ridiculous and although the food is OK, don't bother. It's not very clean, it is very loud, and I cannot recommend it although I wish I could. Habaneros south on 59 is better, they have service, they have a full bar, and the same dinner would've cost me $17 there. this is an instance where you're just not getting what you paid for.
