    Beef tacos

El Barrio II is Plainfield's best Mexican restaurant. Louisa is a sweetheart and makes the experience so friendly and kind. I prefer the chicken or beef but everyone I take here loves everything they get. 10/10 must try

Al Pastor Burrito. Half of a junior portion. More than enough!

Recently tried El Barrio II and was very pleasantly surprised. The Al pastor burrito is delicious. I've lived in Plainfield for two decades & never tried this place. It doesn't look like much from the exterior but the interior is cute and clean. The staff is polite and helpful, and the portions & prices are great. If you haven't tried it, definitely stop in soon.

Found my new go to in Plainfield! The tacos were great. The Al Pastor was very very good, House made chips brought fresh to the table. Service was good, the decor on the inside is very nice. I love the chalkboard, the donkey prints, bar height seating by the window, no patio, carry out available and kid friendly.

I am afraid to write this review for fear this "secret" gem will gain popularity. Yet - I have to write something about this place. The food here is absolutely delicious. My favorites are the breakfast burrito with chorizo and the Al pastor tacos. Everything I've had is tasty, but those are my go-tos. Their red sauce is awesome too. There is table service, but I wish they would just have folks order at the counter and deliver the food to the table. It might be more efficient for the small wait staff who get pulled in a lot of different directions.

Recommend sampling various tacos (Chorizo, Al Pastor, Steak etc). Best with Traditional Style with soft corn cilantro & Onion. Good Value on Taco Tuesday specials as well. GF options available.

Food not very good and their customer service needs work. It's standard that employees should greet people when they come in.

From workers to celebrating families. They just got a new menu and prices of course have gone up but that's understandable. What I'm taking issue with is that the owners need to embrace that this place is a "mom" restaurant that's got a homey feel. They added another screen advertising drinks, etc that are too big and obtrusive for behind the counter. Bring the tone down. Instead of spending money on electric signs, spend your decorating dollars on making the place cozy so pictures in Yelp look more inviting. We had birria burrito and carne asada with a large guacamole and horchata. Everything was great as always. Normally we get their margaritas which are also very good.

Long story short, our order was repeated back correctly, yet we still ended up with a missing salsa and an incorrectly made burrito. Mistakes happen. Every restaurant gets an order wrong from time to time. The problem wasn't the mistake. It was how such a small issue was handled. Their reaction honestly took me aback. We weren't asking for a free meal or trying to take advantage of the situation. We simply called to ask for a credit for the missing salsa, which was about $2. That should have been the end of the conversation. While I was on the phone, we opened the rest of the order and realized the burrito had also been made incorrectly. Instead of listening, the employee repeatedly insisted it had been made correctly without even seeing it. Then another employee got on the phone and, in a very aggressive tone, told us that if we wanted a refund, we had one hour to bring the food back or we wouldn't receive anything. We didn't want a full refund. We simply wanted the missing salsa and for the burrito to be made correctly. A sincere apology, a $2 credit, and an offer to remake the burrito would have completely changed the experience. Instead, a minor issue was escalated into an unnecessary confrontation. I even spoke to the staff in Spanish, so this wasn't a language barrier or a misunderstanding. The issue was the attitude and the complete lack of professionalism in handling a simple customer service situation. Wanting to understand whether this was just one employee or reflected the culture of the business, I called another location and asked if I could speak with a manager or owner. I was told they don't give out names because they receive death threats. Whether that's true or not, that's an incredibly strange thing to tell a customer. It naturally makes you wonder how previous customer complaints have been handled if that's the response employees are instructed to give. As a fellow Latin American, I genuinely want to support Latino-owned businesses. That's why this experience was so disappointing. Success isn't just about serving great food or opening multiple locations. It's also about treating customers with respect, accepting feedback, and knowing how to resolve small problems without becoming defensive. More than anything, I was embarrassed for them. This entire situation could have been resolved in two minutes. Instead, they chose confrontation over customer service. The food is good, but it isn't good enough to make me overlook how we were treated. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and unfortunately, that's where this restaurant fell short.

I ordered to-go catering…read more... In this industry, and really in life in general, things are going to happen that are unexpected or unintentional... but it's how you react and respond to those things to rectify them that define you as a company. The restaurant's response of "we've been doing this for 13 years" certainly doesn't fix my dried out meat, browning lettuce and foamy, fermented salsa. Having worked as a catering manager, I am well aware of the markup percentages on food, so when they finally called me back to make a gesture towards the inedible food, I was again disappointed that you thought $50 on an almost $400 bill, was fair, especially considering AT LEAST 1/3 of each tray had to be thrown out! They use the most shallow pans I've ever seen (in the pic, it's the pan all the way to the right), they cut the steak into tiny pieces and don't put any sort of liquid in the pan so OF COURSE, it's going to get dried out sitting in a chafing dish! Bottom line to other potential consumers: I'd go somewhere else! The amount of food you get for the price you pay=terrible value of your money! Management DOES NOT stand behind their product and are extremely defensive when something negative is brought to their attention. They clearly do not care about the satisfaction of their customers.

They were round balls of fried breading with sauce! The guacamole is supposed to be "made to order". No way! I understand oxidation causes it to get brown but it should not be brown right when you receive the order 5 minutes after ordering it!! I make guacamole and I know how long it stays fresh. This was NOT fresh! It went right in the garbage.
