We found Los Tony's on our first night in Marbella and we ate here twice. It was amazing both times. The ambience is incredible, as it's right on the ocean with a direct view from any table in the restaurant. The seafood is local & as fresh as it gets. You are presented with the daily catches after you sit. The paellas are also plenty and incredible. There is also a great selection of tapas & sangrias. The first night we had a fresh hake that was oven grilled with a wine sauce over oven potatoes and fresh vegetables. The second time we came we had the sea bass baked in salt & potatoes bravas. Our daughters shared a lobster paella on night one and had a lot of leftovers : We started with croquettas and an Iberian cheese board the first night and the 'crispy gambas' the second. One thing : if you don't want the bread, which is a surcharge of about 1.90€ , say it before it's placed on your table.. it will be charged pp on your bill. Our sangria was the best we had in Spain --and we visited 6 places. I had a small 'jug' of Sangria cava and my husband had the small 'jug' of Sangria tinto (red). Dessert is more than listed on the menu -- it will be shown on a large tray; because I struggle with so many allergies and my Spanish is limited, I decided it was best to stick to what I know .. and it was also amazing. Our service was outstanding each time we came here. There are great restaurants along this beach up and down and Los Tony's is one of the best on Nikki Beach .. make a reservation and get a window table. You won't be sorry. Our server was Joavi and he's amazing. Tip well. It's deserved.

The owner, Anita, was so friendly and invited us to sit wherever we preferred. My husband, sister and I chose a table in the back room next to the fireplace since it was a chilly night in January. We were dehydrated from drinking wine all day during our wine tour in Ronda so we immediately ordered several bottles of water and soda to accompany our wine. I was dreading the bill after ordering so many beverages, but prices were very reasonable and this was one of our cheapest meals in Marbella! The menu at Arco Tapas Bar consists of a variety of hot and cold tapas and small plates. The Iberian ham, fresh buffalo mozzarella, sliders, and goat cheese salad were some of our favorite dishes. We later found out that Anita's husband is the chef. Anita's husband is from Italy so you will notice some Italian influences on the menu. This was the perfect spot to relax with friends and enjoy some great wine and tapas. Would highly recommend this spot. Unfortunately, they are not open for lunch or we would have returned the next day!

Casa Diego was full of Spanish families celebrating Semana Santa, not another foreign tourist in the bunch, which let us know we were in the right place. Their Salmorejo was garnished with tuna and ham (meats vary among sardines, anchovies, chorizo, tuna, shredded chicken, etc) in addition to the standard hard boiled egg. It tasted very fresh and homemade, especially compared to the one my husband had in Cordoba. Casa Diego's Salmorejo had layers of flavor and was very thoughtfully created. I had a salad dinner because I'd had too many meat dishes without roughage and my body needed greens. Unfortunately the salad was mostly iceberg which has very few nutrients, but I appreciated the vegetable intake of some kind. I tried my son's lagrimitas de pollo and patatas, both high quality and very good. Chicken fingers looked homemade, as did the potatoes. My husband got the swordfish, which he said was firm, with good flavor and a a good hint of char. The olive oil complemented the taste. For dessert, my son finally got to try the Tarta de Abuela, which we'd been looking for on every dessert menu across Spain. It too tasted homemade though (per traditional recipe) constructed of cookies and candy elements. It's extremely sweet but definitely worth trying at least once, and delicious to kids! My husband had the Bienmesabe that is specific to Antequera. There are apparently a number of different Bienmesabe dessert recipes (and in Cádiz, Bienmesabe is a tapa of marinated fried fish) but the Antequera version is their own, and various bakeries and restaurants put their own panache into the local sugar/almond/cinnamon/pastry recipe. Casa Diego's Bienmesabe was simple and complex at once, balancing citrus with sweet almond paste, and using pastry to elevate cinnamon and sugar into gourmet delights. The bill was very reasonable especially considering the food quality. Our server was really sweet and helpful. As we finished paying, he let us know the Semana Santa parade was coming down the street. Perfect timing, the float and band passed just as we went out the door. Great experience and will love to return!

I was very…read morehappy to display (only just!) some intelligence on my recent trip to Marbella Having been disappointed with my lunch at a restaurant on the main tourist beach promenade, I vowed not to get seduced by any more touristy eateries. That evening, I walked from my hotel to the Old Town and spent half an hour wandering round looking at all the menus. Fortunately, I eschewed the pseudo international food and 20 Euro paellas on offer and walked all the way back to my hotel without a clear plan about what to do for dinner. Well, completely by chance, I discovered this gem of a tapas bar just a few doors from my hotel. The first good sign was that the menu was written completely in Spanish with no foreign translated menus available. Secondly, the busy restaurant was patronisesd exclusively by local Spaniards. Thirdly, as in the best Chinese restaurants, there was a wonderful happy din of people enjoying themselves amidst good company and good food. Although I don't speak much Spanish, fortunately my time spent in tapas restaurants in the UK enabled me to spot some favourite dishes. As is the tradition in Spain, my drink arrived with a complimentary tapas - salami on a piece of baguette. The only downer of the evening was that the only orange juice available was in a bottle where I had found wonderful freshly squeezed orange juice almost ubiquitous throughout the resort My bounty of pulpo a la gallega (octopus in olive and paprika), chuletas de cordero (grilled lamb cutlets) cooked medium rare, bacalao fritos (salt cod fritter), jamon Iberico (wonderful cut to order iberico ham) and chipirones (deep fried squid). A wonderful tasty authentic dinner, sat in front of the telly showing La Liga football. The bill at the end of the evening? 22 Euros. Bargain! This was the authentic taste of the real Spain I was seeking and it was wonderful

She told me that they had good, authentic Andalucian cuisine, excellent wines, and reasonable prices and she was absolutely right! There was what I would call a "Mariachi" group on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant strumming four guitars and singing familiar songs I have heard many times in Mexican restaurants in California and Texas. I was told that they are called "Tunos" in Spain, but these four gentlemen were much more talented than any Mariachi group I have ever heard. The guitars and voices were melodically synchronized, rendering four part harmonies unrivaled by some of the best barber shop quartets I have heard. They performed non-stop from 9:30pm until nearly 11:30pm when I finally left for my room and they were superb. The waiter spoke English reasonably well, suggesting wines, starters, and a main course. Nothing I ordered was on the menu. He first brought me a glass of Tempranillo, a dark, robust Spanish red wine with hints of oak along with a "tortilla". Not the Mexican variety tortilla we expect in stateside restaurants and supermarkets, a tortilla in Spain is an omelette made with eggs and potatoes, resembling a very thick piece of quiche the size of a slice of pie. The tortilla de patatas (€2.50), two slices actually, were light yet savory and delicious. Anna had recommended the Gambas al Pil Pil (€9), an Andalucian specialty with prawns baked in a sauce of olive oil, garlic, and chili peppers accompanied by fresh bread for dipping. The ceramic dish came to me still bubbling with 12 small shrimp, slices of garlic, and a few diced red chili peppers. The fresh sliced baguette easily soaked up the decadent garlic infused oil, raising my cholesterol level by several hundred points. I have to admit that this was one of the best dishes I have had in quite a while. The service was impeccable, attentive and friendly, always there when needed but not suffocating. I had no idea how much the check would be when it arrived and when it did, I was shocked! Just €16.10 (less than $18) for three glasses of wonderful wine, s starter and a main course, while enjoying excellent, traditional Spanish melodies - what more could I ask for? Unfortunately, my wife was unable to accompany me on this trip, but even still, this was one of the most enjoyable, affordable dining experiences I have had in quite a while and I will return before leaving Marbella ... sorry honey! I always hesitate before giving the maximum score to any establishment, but I honestly could not find a fault to deduct even a single "bomb", hence ...
