This little spot in San Telmo is regularly recommended because of its dedication to local ingredients (including unique game meats) & inventive dishes. Although not originally in our plans, I was pretty deadset secretly on going here and made a reservation... for the wrong night. When I showed up on the night I had actually intended, the staff graciously seated us anyways and we were given a great spot at the bar where we could peek into the small kitchen. So kudos to them for that!
The menu varies depending on the night, but what we had was excellent. Presentation was stunning; you can tell they take true care with what they are giving to each customer. The flavors were unique and memorable, much more spiced than anything else we ate in Buenos Aires while remaining balanced. Our server was good at speaking English (which was helpful, porque hablo poco espanol... was that even right?) & wonderfully thorough at explaining the dishes. We had a good selection of wines for our pairing as well, many of them unique. Although it was very white wine-leaning, which is not my personal preference, I actually did enjoy each selection. My only gripe is that it sometimes felt like an afterthought; I would have loved to know more about why each wine was selected to pair with the course, what I should expect, although the language barrier could be partly to blame for that.
My favorite course was the llama tartare & the dessert, but they were all truly great... Seriously, a great experience and one I'd highly recommend for the adventurous eater :) read more
