Lesson learned: read the negative reviews before trying a new place. In this case, review after negative review precisely described my experience this morning. We ordered ahead on the web site. When I started the order, it estimated being ready by 10:30. Upon paying it revised that time to 11. We ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese and an everything bagel with lox, cream cheese, capers and tomato. I asked for it to be toasted. We arrived at 10:45. There were a couple of people outside at the tables, but no crowd... a surprise on a Sunday morning . I thought it may be possible that things were ready early, so I went in to see. They handed me the sesame bagel and cream cheese, and sail the lox and bagel would be ready right at 11 because they needed to toast it. After waiting in the car, I went back in... at 11 on the dot. The same person who had handed me the other bagel 15 minutes earlier didn't remember me, asked for my name again. She asked if I wanted the other bagel. I reminded her that she had given that to me already. Then she walked over to a white board to write my name on it. In the mean time two other customers had appeared, and she did the same thing with them. When she came back the third time, 6 minutes later, I asked what the status of my order was and she said now that I'm there they'll get it ready. I reminded her of our conversation 15 minutes earlier and without any response to me, she took a megaphone to yell another persons name out the window- this was one of the people who showed up after me- to get their order. After another five minutes the employee at the cash register on another counter (about 10 feet away from the first) asked if I needed help. I said, yes, I was there to get my order. She took my name, went to check (about 19 more feet away), and came back to inform me that my name was on the board, and that they were wrapping up my sandwich. Six minutes later, finally, my order was ready! When we got home to enjoy our meal, it turns out that they forgot to toast my bagel, and left off the capers. read more

As I've stated in the past, by Miami bagel standards, this place is pretty good. All around good-quality bagels that have the chewy-to-soft ratio just right. The star, IMO, is their Bacon, Egg & Cheese sandwich, which is really good. They have the formula just right on this one. Definitely worth visit for this bagel sandwich. My main criticism, however, is their service model, which is discussed in many, many reviews here and, also by a number of frustrated customers who come to the window (I sit outside eating my sandwich and have seen this time and time again). You can't just walk up to the window and order a sandwich. It has to be done online and you have to wait, sometimes, hours for your order to be done. I ordered at 9am last weekend and it told me to show up in an hour. This is pretty ridiculous for a food that is supposed to be a quick service, on-the-go type of meal. You shouldn't have to plan hours ahead of time if you want a bagel. To quote the old guy who came up to the window after me on Saturday, May 22: Old Guy: We'd like a few bagels with cream cheese, what do you have? Employee at window: Well, our menu is online and we are currently at an hour wait for all orders? Old Guy: An hour wait? Well, I guess I can do some shopping in the meantime. Can I order from you? Employee: You need to order online. Old Guy: So I'm standing in front of you and you won't take my order? F*ck that. I'm really surprised they haven't worked out the operation to improve this situation. There may be a million legit reasons why they keep this system in place, but they should understand that they lose business because of it. 4 out of 5 times I think about this place, I say to myself, "I really don't want to wait an hour for a bagel." and just go elsewhere. El Bagel has been on my radar for a long time. Unfortunately, I could never seem to make it to the food truck and now their shop is finally open! Of course, we're all in a little bit of a lockdown at the current moment; however, they are making it super easy to still get your bagel fix. We took advantage this past weekend and had a great experience. Online ordering opened at 8:00 am and I was ready to pull the trigger. Our order was ready by 8:20 and they provided text updates. While MiMo isn't necessarily close to my West Miami abode, the lack of traffic these days made getting there super easy. My bagel was still warm by the time we got home! I also got a cold brew coffee which was just what I needed to break up the monotony of my at home Nespresso habit, since I haven't been visiting as many coffeeshops as I'd like to. My husband and I decided to share the BEC and EB Original. The BEC comes with Proper Sausages bacon, double cage-free fried egg, and american cheese. The EB Original consists of scallion cream cheese, roasted jalapenos, and Proper Sausages bacon. We got both on untoasted plain and everything bagels, respectively. I'm no bagel expert but I do know Miami severely lacks quality bagels. By my accounts, these are dang good! The EB Original may sound strange but it's definitely worth trying! Pulled up and it's a bit in a strip mall so not a lot of signage and parking. Parking pretty limited may be better to walk. Ordered to go and they were busy. The best ever. I haven't gone to another bagel spot in miami in years because this place cannot be beat. My go-to was an egg and cheese, toasted on a garlic bagel with a cold brew, light oat milk. Cold brew is my jam, and they have the best in miami (I say that firmly with confidence!) I have been known to buy four at a time so that I can have some throughout the week. I'm still trying to convince them to make growlers! I've developed an egg allergy, so shifted to Las Tardes, which is a great turkey, cream cheese, tomato jam, spouts bagel sando, amazing option if you are allergic to eggs. Today I became "The Duchess of El Bagel" and I thought it appropriate to post my review on this momentous occasion. First of all, if you're deciding whether this is worth trying, it is! It most certainly is! The first time I tried the BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese) I went a little insane and added avocado and cream cheese. It was sooooo good! But honestly, it was too much. While delicious, it was too messy to eat properly. But hey, if you wanna give it a shot, why not? Now, the regular BEC is amazing as is. The bacon is perfectly cooked and thick. They put the perfect amount of cheese, and the egg yolk is just runny enough. I always do the sea salt bagel. It's really good. I haven't tried the others yet because the salt adds flavor and I like it :) More recently I finally tried the King Guava. Guava marmalade, cream cheese, potato sticks, and an egg. On a salt bagel of course. I loved the salty/sweet and I will definitely get it again. Next time, I'm going to add bacon and see how I like it. I think it will go well with the marmalade. This place was so hyped and it was an accidental find thanks to some fellow Yelpers in the know. They are a hidden food truck behind Boxelder in Wynwood. We stopped in pre-WakeFest. The line is as insane as you've heard, but apparently they were cranking them out the Saturday we went and the wait was not bad. They seem to have some interesting bagel offerings and I went w/the King Guava (I'm a sucker for guava and having just moved here from places where guava is not a thing, I want it on EVERYTHING!) and added bacon because it just smelled so good! They didn't put bacon on my first bagel, so it was kind of a pain in the butt to endure the dirty looks from the line-standers as I cut to the front to let them know. If it hadn't been such an upcharge, I woulda let it slide, but since I paid $14 for just my bagel (w/tax n tip), you best believe I was already achin' for my bacon! It was kind of a PITA tbh, but they got me my replacement bagel and the two are night and day! So, 1-star for the price. While absolutely delicious and sizeable, $14 for a bfast bagel is just a little pricey for this Miami-transplant, especially out of a food truck (there are rumors they are going brick n mortar, but this has been hearsay forever, according to those in the know). And, 1-star for not getting my order right, especially when it was missing an upcharge item and it being a totally diff bagel (as you can see in the pics). I don't know that I would wait the hrs in line for this place, but I will say, they use quality products and you can tell. Plus, I was told their bagels are vegan, so that's a bonus, as well. If you are craving a well made bagel with perfectly melted cheese El Bagel is the place to go! It's not the type of place you would dine in but there is an outdoor patio where you can sit if you choose to. I would recommend ordering online and picking up at the window. Its much faster, convenient and a better experience overall. The service wasn't the best but the food makes up for it which is why I stuck with 5 stars. They were not welcoming at all so again, don't expect good service. We ordered the B.E.C which comes with bacon, egg and cheese. You can also choose to have it with sausage for a dollar more. I ordered it on an everything bagel and my boyfriend ordered his on a salt bagel. Both were AMAZING! I would definitely put this next to a NY bagel and it could easily be compared to one. The point of the hospitality industry should be to provide the diner with a great experience. If you're from New England then you know a good bagel and this place tries to get there but ultimately falls short (Not to mention that a bagel sandwich will run you about 3-4x the price). Unfortunately there's not a lot of good bagel spots and if you can stomach the price you might be able to chew the bagel. Also not a fan of the bacon, typically overcooked and chewy. I first came to El Bagel when they were slangin' bagels outside a truck parked at Box Elder. Now, I've been loving their brick and mortar space and how they pivoted during the pandemic. You can pre-order starting at 8 a.m. or make the line and order at their window. Pre-orders are heavily encouraged, as they do sell out and can get quite busy. There is no indoor seating just yet, but there's a patio (with free parking!) in a lot behind the building that they're in. There's also street parking if the lot is full. As for the grub - I love their King Guava (guava marmalade, cream cheese, fried egg, potato stix). Recently, I tried the BEC (bacon, egg, cheese), and that one hit the spot, too. Be warned, the sandwiches ARE very messy, so definitely stock up on napkins and hand sani. You have your choice of bagel (and you really can't go wrong with any of them, especially if they're toasted). I woke up earlier than usual today and decided to try out the bagels here. I drive past this location daily on my commute to work, and I am kicking myself for not having come sooner. The young lady at the register was really sweet and made me a fantastic cold brew. I didn't know that all the food was made to order so she asked the staff to rush my order so I could get to work. The BEC (Bacon Egg & Cheese) bagel (rosemary & sea-salt) was out of this world! Bagel was perfect and pretty big, with 2 fried eggs and a lot of bacon and cheese. This was the perfect breakfast to get me through my 12-hour shift today. I normally do not write reviews, but I had to give credit to this place for the great food, strong coffee, and excellent service. As someone who works in hospitality I recognize a great place when I see it. Pro-Tip: Order the food ahead of time online and pick it up, the lines can get pretty big. When I first heard about El Bagel I wasn't aware of the popularity, or more importantly; the wait. Since I was relatively close by I decided to see what it was all about only to find out the only accepted online orders and since it was the weekend I'd have to wait over 2 hours for my order. I wasn't going to wait, so I had breakfast elsewhere that day. For my second attempt I placed my order early any only had to wait an hour! I arrived just as my order of half dozen bagels and one EB original (toasted) was ready, except my EB original was completely cold but my half dozen were still soft and warm. I didn't complain, I was hungry and I can see they were busy. For my latest attempt I got a SEC on toasted everything bagel and another half dozen. Wait time was 45 minutes. This time my sandwich was warm, gooey and really messy (in a good way), and my freshly made half dozen was nice and warm again. Yes, these bagels are legit, especially when properly toasted they have the crunch on the outside and soft chewy texture on the outside that is what a real bagel is all about.. but they do come at a price aside from having to wait, at $2 each they're not cheap and at $10.50 for a single sandwich it is a bit steep but the execution was well done. read more

The spot for gourmet bagel sandwiches! My fiance and I first tried El Bagel with a couple of friends at their weekend pop-up food truck in South Beach and were immediately hooked. Everything on the menu sounded delicious that we decided to share in a "tasting" of four of their bagel sandwiches between the four of us. Went we with the B.E.C. ($10), Lox Supreme ($12.50), EB Original ($9), and Avo Spesh ($9) on an assortment of everything, sesame, or plain bagels. Wowow. Coincidentally, we each ended up picking a different favorite, so you really can't go wrong here. My favorite was the Lox Supreme; I really loved how the lox tasted only lightly salted and the various veggies were super refreshing. As a New Yorker, I know what a good bagel taste, smells, looks, and feels like. The quality of food and service I encountered from this tiny little bagel shop exceeded my expectations! Let's start with appearances. This little shop is nestled in the corner of a tiny shopping center with at least 2-3 spots designated for their customers to park. They offer patrons outdoor dining on benches covered by umbrellas, but do not offer any tables. Orders must be placed through their window as they no longer offer patrons access to their indoor registers. Patrons are allowed to wait on benches for their orders, or wait in their cars to avoid overcrowding the small vicinity. Upon arrival, we were greeted outside by a friendly server who asked if we were there to pick up or place an order. He motioned for us to follow him towards the window where another server took my order and even repeated it to me to make sure all was correct! Both servers were very friendly and receptive of my requests for bagel preparation and alterations. The food was freshly prepared and packaged within 8 minutes. A little hesitant to try a Florida bagel knowing that their water quality (the key ingredient to the perfect bread) is subpar to New York, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the bagels! All three bagels were perfectly toasted to a temperature that warmed them without burning or making them too hard. Not as chewy and doughy as a New York bagel, but the quality, seasoning, and taste was pretty darn close! For sure my favorite bagel spot in Florida thus far! Fresh ingredients, creamy and delicious homemade cream cheese spreads, and top notch service! My only complaint was that the bagels were all quite messy (don't be afraid to ask for a bunch of napkins). Nevertheless, a yummy and unexpected experience for this biased bagel lover! read more

My husband and I own a breakfast sandwich breakfast business in the Tampa/St. Pete area, so we are always on the hunt for a good breakfast sandwich any time we are on vacation. We have been waiting for months to finally try El Bagel, and we got to a few weeks ago! You can order bagels or bagel sandwiches here. They had a bacon, egg, and cheese with your choice of bagel (which my husband ordered) and they allowed me to take off the bacon for my order since I'm not a meat eater. They do take some time to cook, but it's totally worth the wait. The everything bagel was just that--everything! Super fresh and flavorful. So I literally drove 10 miles for vegan cream cheese! I was sitting at work and while perusing Yelp I had stumbled across El Bagel and figured why not?!?! Who wouldn't enjoy a bagel with cream cheese on a back to work Monday?!?! There are only 5 different bagel varieties...plain, sea salt, everything, sesame and poppy. I picked up a dozen mixed and a tub of both vegan and regular cream cheese. My first experience was with the sesame bagel...super authentic...I love bagels so I was very happy to enjoy this! The vegan cream cheese is OUTSTANDING! The best I have ever tried...I will literally be back just for the cream cheese...I wish I had also picked up a half gallon of the oatmilk latte. It sounds delicious. My boss had a plain bagel and put regular cream cheese on half and vegan on the other half. After he was done, I asked him what he thought of the vegan cream cheese and he said he forgot because he couldn't really tell the difference! I will definitely be ordering from El Bagel again, although probably not as frequently as I would like since I literally drove 10 miles and back just for bagels (and vegan cream cheese;)) I would definitely recommend they hook up with some kind of delivery service to make it easier. I finally got to try this place since I was up in the area and wow let me tell you... it did not disappoint! my husband and I picked up some lox and BEC breakfast sandwiches and they were amazing. The best BEC I've ever had. I think one thing that really stands about about it is the fact that they actually put a full egg on it and not one that's been molded and scrambled- but a full semi soft egg which I loved. My 1.5 year old even had a bite of both and loved it. I can't wait to go back. We left with a half a dozen bagels and some scallion cream cheese but next time I'll get less since they are already pretty hard after 24 hours.. not a huge deal because they were so fresh! Fabulous.
