Used to visit ALL the time and went back recently. El Azteca has mastered the genre of comfort Mexican food! I got chicken tacos with their quac and chips and it hit the spot. The staff are always upbeat and super friendly. The vibes of the restaurant definitely lean early-2000s but it adds to the experience and is super cozy! read more

Got some takeout from Azteca today. When I arrived, they treated me like an old friend, even though I haven't been there in a couple years. My order was ready at exactly the time they said it would be and it was all correct and delicious. This is a great spot for family dining as well. read more

I love their food here. I've had the chilli relleno, the enchiladas, the nachos, the quesadillas, and their salsa and I love all of the food. The service is typically pretty good. The price of the food is good for the amount paid. The food typically comes out quickly. I'd say I eat here about 4-5 times a month. read more

First time here , we came in due to the fact that they served soups , and not just menudo but albóndigas and caldo de res. I call in to see if they had albóndigas still currently available the young lady who answered was very polite and said yes. Funny enough she was also the young lady to serve us. Her name is Eileen. We really like the chips and salsa they were nice and crispy and a nice kick to the fresh salsa. Eileen was very attentive and polite. We definitely enjoy our plates. Will definitely will be coming back and will definitely recommend this place to family and friends read more

The service was amazing. Super attentive. That's it. Food was awful. Awful. Had the nachos. So boring and no taste. Hardly anything on it. Had the tostada and I couldn't even see the meat. Again nothing on it. Hardly ate it. Like others, no flavor, bland and just gross. Won't be coming back ever. read more

Went out with my Rotary group to help support a local business. We picked El Azteca and we all enjoyed our meals. Let me tell you about my experience. I ordered a super burrito with carnitas and black beans. I asked for a spicy burrito. The waitress asked if I wanted it "wet". I opted to "go for it" and told her to put the spicier of red sauce or green (verde) sauce. When the burrito was being brought over to the table, I could easily tell it was a mammoth. The burrito was delicious but wasn't spicy. I usually seek out spicy food at Mexican restaurants because it's my thing. Lol. Anyhow, like I mentioned earlier, it was a big one! The service was great. We (Cordelia Rotary Club members) enjoyed our time supporting a local business. We will definitely keep this place in mind for our rotation of local restaurants. Thank you El Azteca - Fairfield. read more

The service is top notch and I love the food. I always used to get the Chili Colorado, but it has disappeared from the menu. Not to worry, the Carnitas have taken over. They are awesome with the perfect amount of crispy and spice. Their normal salsa is a bit tame for me so I ask for a regular and a hot, then combine them for the perfect heat level. I have no idea how some people have gotten bad food here. I have been coming here since 1980 and it is my favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

This is my first time at this location, I am unsure if this location is the same as the Vacaville location. If so the Vacaville one is far superior. I ordered a super carne asada burrito but when I got home it fell apart due to it being poorly wrapped. The taste was less then basic, if I was blindfolded I wouldn't think this food came from a Mexican restaurant. There wasn't any flavor to it at all, nothing stood out, it was absurdly bland. It didn't come with hot sauce but even then I don't think the hot sauce would have enhanced it. It also doesn't help my stomach completely rejected it moments later, I barely ate half before tossing it. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, there's many locations in Fairfield for good Mexican food. I would have much rather have had Taco Bell, lesson learned. T-T read more

I went here awhile back, the atmosphere is nice with the lively decorations, colorful scenery, and the vibes are nice. While the chips and horchata are good, the food is a bit questionable. The taquitos were rather bulky with unseasoned chicken, and stale/over fried shell. Meanwhile, the carne asada of the street tacos were also unseasoned, and didn't as authentic as other restaurants. Although, the beans were great, and the rice wasn't too bad. For the service, the servers were very friendly, and had a fast-pace with serving, and were rather personable. I think at the time, the chefs were likely rushing, or not seasoning, although, it wasn't many people at the time I went. read more

I came in did an order to go, I asked for some salsa Verde on the side, which they do charge 2$ for a very small container. I noticed it was hot , to the touch .I come home and discovered that it has meat in it and then called them. Come to find out it has pork in it this is something that they need to notify their customers. It's not on their menu. They should notify their customers that it does have pork in it for people that have religious beliefs, or do not eat pork they should be made aware of this.!!!! read more

To be fair, the only thing I tried was a chicken quesadilla but oh how good it was! Crispy on the outside with perfect crunch, chicken was seasoned wonderfully, and the right amount of cheese. So simply but so good- was exactly what I wanted and I still think about that quesadilla every now and then...can't wait to go get another one. read more

I had the worst experience at this restaurant! I went for a take-out order and they got it wrong so, I had drive back. No apology, then they said they didn't charge me for two items and said it would be an additional charge of $13, this was for 2 tamales. So, they priced gauge me $6.50 a tamale. I was told no manager was on duty that I could speak with. When I asked where the prices are listed the gentleman said "it's being updated" Horrible experience. I highly recommend NOT coming here. After doing my own research I found out there is another restaurant in Vacaville which is separately owned by a different family member who is not connected to the Fairfield restaurant. So, I will be giving my business to the Vacaville location. read more

One of my favorite Mexican food places in the North Bay! The best thing on the menu is the fajitas. You can't go wrong with chicken or steak. The margaritas are great, I also enjoy that they have local craft beer from Heretic! The help is fantastic and always smiling. There is plenty of seating, it's a great place to go with a party or just for a quick lunch bite. Next time I go back I will have a beer and try the tilapia, Virginia (one of the managers) has been telling me about it for a while, and fish sounds good this weekend! read more

My friend brought me to El Azteca for the first time last weekend. The restaurant has that old school mexican ambience, chips were freshly fried and hot, salsa was good not too spicy or chunky. I got the combo plate pork tamale, red cheese Enchilada and chicken tostada, food was really good....its def mexican American style but prepared well. Service was quick and friendly, prices are reasonable will def come back! read more

Very disappointed! We have eaten at El Azteca many times over the years. It used to be consistently good, hence the reason we kept going back. The quality has unfortunately declined over time and we have not eaten there in quite a while. However, tonight we thought we would give it another chance. Most likely will not return again. Tonight's meal was not good. First off they got my order wrong, everything tasted the same, very bland, and was not even close to being hot, more like barely room temperature. We don't eat out much, we just prefer to eat at home, but was in the mood for Mexican food. Guess I will learn to cook it at home. read more

The food is delicious the service is always great and It's clean as well. My favorite is the chimichanga.

Placed a to go order specifically said no onions twice and have the taco in a side container. I get home to tons of crunchy onions and a soggy taco! I called and explained the situation, the woman asks me did you say no onions...not I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Of course I said no onions not once but twice! Then I ask if there is onions in the enchiladas and young man advises they are always prepped with onion...???? Well if that's the case why do you ask are onions okay when taking an order??? I stated if you cannot provide my order without onions, I would like to then order something different so that I can enjoy my meal. They advise that it needs to be the same meal, they can't provide something different...really????? I strongly suggest you guys invest in customer service skill training. The situation I endured could have been so easy to resolve! First apologize for the inconvenience and then simply advise would you like to reorder, can we get you something else, or would you like a refund!!! Due the crappy customer service, You've lost a long term customer!!! read more

Food is Ok. Not bad, but not the greatest.... The one thing that I didn't like was we came to the restaurant and had 16 people. The restaurant was practically empty. They had a spot obviously right away, but were quickly told we had to have ONE BILL. We could use 2 cards but the bill would just be split between these two cards. That is a huge inconvenience for us as customers. So we had to have one person pay the entire bill and then Zelle money over. If it wasn't for the older ones we had in the group we would have just all got back in the cars and went somewhere else. read more

Azteca is quite possibly one of my favorite places to get Mexican food. I have been coming here since I was a little kid. Their chips have improved over the years and their salsa is yummy. Not too spicy and full of flavor. This time I took my mom to lunch and she got her usual shredded beef taco, rice and beans. No complaints from mom. I knew I was going to be at work late so I ordered a 3-item and asked for a box so I could split it when it came. I literally handed everything and had a good amount for both meals. I have never had one of their burritos so I figured I would give it a try. It just comes with meat inside and cheese and sauce on the outside. Reminded me of an enchirito from Taco Bell. It was good. Full of shredded beef seasoned well, no fat and tender. My Taco was ground beef and yummy. I halted it too and when I ate it later it still had some crunch to it. The best was my Chili Verde enchilada. I love love love their chili verde. I hate it when you go places and the meat has good flavor but then you bite into a big hunk of fat. Not here. I have been fortunate to not get fat in my meat. The only thing missing from our meal was dessert but we were full. If you get a chance try their Sopapillas as they are the best around. read more

My boyfriend and I were in the mood for some Mexican food. We browsed through doordash and found this spot. The reviews were pretty good and he thought the super burrito looked delicious. It took about 35 minutes to get our food. I ordered pozole and the combo plate. The pozole had a great flavor. They included oregano (I think) seasoning, but I didn't put it in my soup. I loved that they didn't include huge chunky bones with the soup. It was just meat and hominy. They included shredded cabbage and radish for my soup, which I usually add a bunch of. However, the lettuce felt really dry and didn't look fresh. And the radish looked old as well (pictured). I put one in my soup, but decided to take it out because I did not trust the freshness of the product. Although the soups flavor was really good, I took a bite at some point and tasted something very bitter. I'm not sure if it was from the hominy, the lettuce, or the radish I had put in for a few seconds, but it tasted like poison. It was awful. I figured it was from the radish though and not actual poison, so I wasn't that concerned. Just be mindful when putting the additional ingredients in your soup. The meat didn't have a lot of fat on it, which I enjoyed. It was tender and yummy. In my combo plate I ordered a shredded chicken burrito, shredded beef taco, and shredded chicken enchilada. I included the receipt of my order. They gave me a shredded beef enchilada instead, and I did not want to eat it. I wasn't to sure what to do with it, considering I can't just have them fix it since it was through doordash. Just keep that in mind when ordering. The burrito was slightly soggy, I couldn't pick it up, I had to use a fork. But it tasted fine. I was not a fan of the shredded beef taco. The meat seemed old and over cooked. And it didn't look to appetizing. I also didn't eat it. The beans tasted pretty good, although they could use some more cheese. It was focused on the middle of the beans instead of spread around, but not a big deal. Still edible and creamy. The rice didn't look too appetizing, so I didn't try it out (picky with rice, sorry!) My partner got the Azteca Super Burrito. He said it didn't look like it did in the picture. It wasn't very hot, which is weird because it didn't take THAT long to get to us. The sauce on top was a bit watery. And there wasn't enough sauce. It looked advertised as a slightly wet burrito. But according to him, it was like a dry burrito. However, he did eat it. So, it was still a decent burrito. I'm giving a three star rating because the toppings for my pozole weren't fully edible & didn't look fresh. And because they gave me something I did not order. Some of the items were pretty good, but they should be more mindful of what they are serving their guests. I recommend trying it for yourself and seeing if you like it. I hope this helps! Here's the deal... we have been going there for years and years and was our family favorite place! Went there today to buy 4 meals for my family and received 2 tiny individual salsas (2 tablespoons worth) and kindly asked for 2 more and was denied and further told that it would be $4 more! So my $60 will go to another Mexican restaurant NOT El Azteca which makes me sad because I used to enjoy going there weekly ...sometimes twice a week! They just lost out on our $5200 for the year for denying giving us 2 extra salsas! read more

So after Covid shutting everything down. My son and I were craving Mexican on a Friday night/evening so we decided to go try them since majority of all places wee starting to open again. - twss not a mistake going there. Food was good BUT they changed chefs or something? Food wasn't the same a pre Covid. The table next to us also had said the same thing (before we had gotten our food). The beans, i did have a couple (literally a couple -2-) were not cooked thoroughly. As i ate my chimichanga, i bit down on a few hard beans. Their shredded beef wasn't as flavorful as it once used to be. I don't plan on going back any time soon. read more
