On my first visit here I met Stephanie and she was so informative about all the ingredients and options. She was patient with me while I decided what to try and was so helpful was suggestions. We talked and talked about our food restrictions and struggles, I definitely felt like I made a friend while there. Everything tasted amazing! So much so that I came back everyday while visiting Barcelona! I would start off every morning here and stock up on things to eat throughout the day so that I never had to feel uncomfortable or worry about finding places that would be able to accommodate my allergies and restrictions. I was so happy to see that they had churros and croquettes! Two things in Spain I thought I was going to have to miss out on trying because of my allergies. The croissants were flakey and perfect!!!! As were the palmier's! Overall I recommend this place with the highest of recommendations out of anywhere I've been across Europe and the states. The owner gave some advice but then said in Spanish that we could wait. Wait for what? Well, turns out he reopened earlier for us. We asked why the owner opened a gluten free restaurant. Perhaps he was gluten free? It turns out that he has 2 daughters whom are gluten free! Also, he is from Italy where gluten free is very much more known and he wants to raise awareness in Spain. After 20 mins we got our food. I had the (gluten) pasta and it was tasty, but not amazing. It is the gluten free food which stands out though and with that said, I think Il Piccolo is quite unique, cute and interesting little Italian restaurant.

The food was beautiful and delicious. Between the four of us we has Prawns (giant!!), pork, steak, and a vegan dish. Everything was perfect and our plates were clean. We finished with some homemade desserts and a nice liqueur. What makes this place even better is the wonderful owner Maria, master griller Jose, Diego, and all the staff who were so kind and who are really invested in people enjoying an authentic meal and friendly atmosphere.
