I really enjoy the food here, and the prices are great, so it's disappointing to leave this rating. I've been here a few times, but this visit left a bad impression. When I checked my receipt, I noticed I was charged $1.98 for a bottled water I didn't order. When I asked about it, the cashier, Jose, first said it was for ice. When my wife asked for clarification, he changed his answer, saying it was for filtered tap water--$1.00 for the water and $0.98 for tax. The food is excellent, but be sure to check your bill before paying. Unfortunately, it seems like overcharging customers is acceptable here.

Next to pupusas, soup and other Salvadoran foods, they have sandwiches, breakfasts and other menu items that would be more at home on a diner menu than a Salvadoran restaurant menu. Since I am pretty much obsessed with pupusas, I went with three pupusas. They were fairly priced at three dollars a piece. The ordering process is relatively straightforward. You go to the counter and place your order. When it is ready, they bring it to your table. My pupusas were brought to me with the expected slaw and sauce. I find that the best pupusas that I have had here in this country were in Nashville, Tennessee and I found some great pupusas at a flea market on Orange Blossom Trail here in Orlando, Florida, but comparing it to other pupusas that I have tried here in Orlando (other than the ones at the OBT Flea Market), they were good. Not great, not the type that would haunt my dreams, but good. If you are looking for a local place, this place is not a bad place. Not great, but overall decent. Overall, I will give it four stars.

If you are unfamiliar with pupusas, they are a Salvadoran culinary delight. Think of them as a glorious meat pancake and you will only get to about halfway to the glory of what a pupusa can be. Pulling into a shopping plaza that has definitely seen better days. Parking was a bit limited, but not too much of an ordeal. El Paraiso Latino is certainly a very humble place, the kind of establishment that you would not look at twice, but missing this place would indeed be your loss. It is usually at these hole-in-the-wall type places that you will find some great food and here was no exception. I ordered two pupusas and a steak taco. The steak taco was a bit small, however it was tasty. The pupusas were decently sized and were also tasty. Prices were a little higher than what I normally pay, but not by much. This lunch was a bit over twelve dollars and I walked out feeling stuffed and contented.

It was impossible to get the server's attention to ask for more curtido and I was not given tomato sauce either. When we received the bill, we were overcharged by $20 and when brought to the server's attention, a language barrier emerged when we asked for a line item review of the items. During the time we were there, the health inspector showed up and apparently had issues with the inventory of beer not being properly accounted for. Overall, the service was rude, dishonest and lacking in efficiency. We will not be back.

I've had pupusas a few times, but it's been a while so I was really excited to come to Pupusas & Burritos Grill. When I saw they did a unique take on pizza as well I decided I had to get both options to see how they were. It turns out, both were awesome! The pizza was a bit like a typical "Florida Pizza" so to speak in that it wasn't super thin, it wasn't crispy, it wasn't wood oven, etc - it had a fluffy dough and a good amount of sauce and cheese. But what set it apart was the huge flavor! The sauce was really tasty, the dough was tasty and the cheese was good quality and stretchy without being oily. The added pesto all over the pizza was like someone just pureed fresh basil - it was SO good. The best "margarita" style pizza I've had in a long time! The Pupusas were exactly what you'd expect. A nice dough with a cheesy bean mixture inside which was both really tasty and made you want to eat it all in seconds. The side salad / coleslaw was surprisingly good as well, with a great oil and vinegar type dressing that made me eat it all up when I often leave coleslaw uneaten. Overall I loved everything - the girl who took the order was really nice and the food came out fast. Will definitely go back.

Plus you can see their selection baked goods. I looked at the menu prior and had a sense of what I wanted. I started with the Pastelito de Pina. First time ever hearing about this. It's solid. The crust was sugar coated and unique. The pineapple filling was smooth with a sweet texture. I mainly came to get the pupusas and try Salvadorian tamales. I got a bean & cheese pupusa and chicken tamale. When I open up my pupusa, instant cheese pull. And it was pretty good. They provide some kind of slaw on the side. I put the slaw and some hot sauce on top...creating the PERFECT bite. I tried some of my sisters shrimp pupusa. Personally I wouldn't order that but it was tasty and flavorful. I've never had a proper tamale so the chicken tamale was my first. The texture is really smooth and light. With seasoned shredded chicken all through out. For my first tamale, it was good. I also tried the fried tamale and it was a whole different story. The exterior was crispy and dark in color. Inside it was sweet with a corn taste. I was like wow. They paired it with a white sauce that was really good. Making me think of sour cream and cream cheese in one. We brought back a tres leches and flan home. The Tres leches was really good. It wasn't soggy and held up well. The flan cake was good but the sugar juices on the bottom tasted burnt. Which was distasteful. Service was okay. I felt like it could've been better. They weren't disrespectful or anything. If our server was new or having a bad day my apologies.

The pupusas were excellent: melty cheese with little bites of chorizo inside. I hit them with the green hot sauce and tomato sauce, which added the perfect kick and extra flavor. The yuca fries were on point--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The empanadas were big and delicious. The chicken one was packed with protein, and the cheese one was rich and flavorful. These were the large Venezuelan-style empanadas, and they did not disappoint. The cost of everything is great, especially the lunch special. You really get a good bang for your buck here. Overall, super satisfying meal and great value. Definitely coming back.
