My friends and I went fishing and caught a bunch of Mahi. We were looking for a place to cook our catch and decided on coming here. They made a platter with our fish cooked three ways. 1. coconut fried, empanizado (pan fried), and sauted with garlic and butter. All three styles were awesome. I liked the coconut style the best. They gave us rice, fried plantains, and veggies for sides. They also brought out tortillas and garlic bread. The garlic bread was so good. You would think we were in an Italian restaurant with the garlic bread but it works with the meal. The service was great and the price was pretty low. I looked over the menu and it looks like they have all kinds of food here including breakfast. I was comletely satisfied with our choice of bringing our fish here. read more

Our friends strutted in like they had a lifetime membership, and the staff just rolled with it--top-tier hospitality! The vibe? Outdoor dining with fans keeping us cool, colorful tiles that made everything feel festive, and lush plants everywhere--like eating in a tropical postcard. The fresh fish selection was like a seafood beauty pageant, and I got to crown the red snapper as my dinner. Absolute perfection. Then came the endless sides--bread, chips, salsa in every color of the rainbow. At one point, I lost track of what I was eating, but I knew I was happy. And just when we thought we were done, they hit us with tequila shots. Because apparently, the only way to properly end a meal here is slightly wobbly and full of joy. Great restaurant owned by the grandchildren of Gerardo. They start off with guac beans and totopos, I got the Camarones con salsa picante which came with some veggies and rice. Overall great flavors. Also ordered a horchata which was sweet but delicious. read more

Delicious generously portioned food. We had the seafood platter for 2 and it was more than enough for 3 people. The octopus and grilled fish were my favorite but there was also conch, shrimp, and lobster. It comes with rice and cooked vegetables as well making it an incredible meal. In addition we had the vegetarian quesadilla which was very yummy and the guacamole (good but nothing out of this world, heavy on the lime). This is definitely a more quieter place compared to the very tourist filled shops closer to the main street and I highly recommend it. Of note, they added a 10% tip onto the bill which some people say isn't supposed to be allowed but I'm not sure and the service was good enough that we were ok with that. read more

The perfect eating out spot that is close to the ferry but with local food, local hospitality, and local pricing. We barely were seated before homemade salsa, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, and fresh chips were delivered to our table. Our waiter turned on both the ceiling and floor fans to make sure we were cool. Lots of drink options (both alcoholic and non). Ours showed up right away, quickly followed by our food. We were here for dinner, so my husband got a burger and fries. The burger came with all the toppings and was generously sized. My veggie quesadilla was beautifully plated and delicious. We ordered a plate of platanos fritos (fried bananas) for dessert. So good! The attention to detail stood out from the fans to the plating to the service, and finishing with the most carefully packed to-go bag and toothpicks delivered to the table. Stumbled upon this little gem slightly away from the main plaza. I can only vouch for the only dish I got here- Sopa de Mariscos - it is amazing!! Full of different types of seafoods- octopus, squid, salmon, shrimp and conch. It's a tomato based broth, with veggies like carrots, zucchini and potatoes, onions can be removed. I also got a MUCHO GRANDE fresh OJ. Make sure to ask for it WITHOUT ICE. Came here during the heights of the covid mutation so there is only one other table at 4:30pm. Prices are not super touristy price but also not hole in the wall Mexican prices. Overall I highly recommend! read more

I highly recommend this place when you are visiting downtown Cozumel Mexico. It's located right by the church in the square Downtown. Prices are great and they're homemade salsa comes as soon as you sit down. The chicken quesadillas and chicken enchiladas are incredible! They pair nicely with a Dos Equis . We also ordered guacamole which is made with such fresh avocados . The chips are homemade and the hot sauces are homemade and delicious! They have an extra hot sauce made with fresh habanero peppers. The ambiance is a 10/10. They bring you back to this little hut and we even had a mariachi singer come to our table and play a song for us! Our whole bill was around $20 can't beat it! read more

My family enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. I ate the whole fried red snapper, which I thought was slightly over-cooked, but still quite flaky. The waiter was attentive our inscesant questions. The appetizers were a nice plate of guacamole with white cheese on top and a mild salsa, served warm. Enjoy an agua fresca. I recommend the agua melon. My husband had some nice conversations with the owner of the restaurant about the island. After I finished the fish, we were gifted a free Abuelo Guerrero t-shirt. It has tourist prices, it may be authentic, but I don't know where they get off charging more for a mexican meal than in Alaska, where it's the highest prices i've ever seen for a taco. There was free, fast WiFi!! Our waiter was patient, polite and kind. We ordered our drinks and food, and got complimentary chips and dips immediately after. The meals were priced reasonably. The Mexican dishes were under $10, and the seafood platters were around $15. The milkshakes and juices are very cheap for the area. Our drinks came a few minutes later, and all of our food was out within 15 minutes. The fish was cooked and seasoned incredibly well, I would definitely recommend the seafood platter for two! The restaurant itself was clean, the only criticism I had was the bathrooms weren't as clean as I would've liked. I definitely would recommend! read more

Food was delicious and very affordable. The portions are not to large. I recommend the shrimp nachos.

Reading the other reviews I have to say I disagree. We have spent considerable time in Mexico and enjoy Mexican food. I have a feeling this food is "adjusted" for the cruise ship crowd. It was....well...bland. The guacamole had avocado with a sprinkling of queso and little else. Our enchiladas were fine, but I had to season everything and put the pico de gallo (salsa) on it to spice it up some. The rice was RICE....like white rice, not Mexican rice. No seasoning. My wife jokingly mentioned they nailed the black beans. Ha...but even those needed a pinch of salt. So anyhow if you like Taco Bell and your palate tends toward the less Mexican and more American style of cooking, this place is for you. read more

Superior. It is clearly a bar/restaurant for the engineering crew of the cruise ships but the food and atmosphere are superb. This would be a tourist hit were only it closer to the sea. The food though, holy hell! It's superb! Visited here July 2014 and June 2016. As soon as we got off the ferry, we started walking towards the center of the island, away from the expensive restaurants near the beach. We came across this place, while being greeted by a very nice man, holding the restaurant's menu. We weren't sure what we wanted to eat but were very hungry and needed to eat a good and hearty meal before our big adventure. The menu had a variety of Mexican items so we opted to eat here. The waiter asked if we wanted to be in the garden. Since it was early (0830), we had the whole area to ourselves. We asked for coffee, horchata, chilaquiles, ham and eggs, and Mexican style eggs (onions, tomatoes and jalapenos= the colors of the Mexican flag). Our waiter brought us these amazing bread, that I've never tried before, but was sort of Hawaiian King's without the sweetness, it was buttery instead. Our food followed promptly. The chilaquiles sauce was so, so tasty. Eggs cooked to perfection. The homemade tortillas were a little on the thick side, which is ok by me, and were tasty (believe me, even in Mexico, some places still don't know how to get their tortillas right). The coffee was truly cafe de olla because you could taste the olla in it, hehe (Mexican-raised kids will know...) The horchata was so ricy, sweet and refreshing, hmmmmm! While we were eating, the waiter kept checking on us to make sure everything was ok. He asked what we were doing for the rest of the day and we pretty much gave him our "planned" itinerary. He strongly recommended we rented a car to get the most from our trip. I'm glad we listened to him because the island is huge and unless you are ok with paying for a pricey taxi each time you wanna move, there's no other way to get around. So we rented a jeep from across the street, how convenient. He also made some personal recommendations, which is always nice because the locals know what they're talking about. He told us which beaches to definitely try and which to avoid due to strong currents. This guy was truly awesome. He made our dining and traveling experience that much nicer. For dinner we went somewhere else to vary our food experience but this other place we went to was not as tasty, overpriced and the costumer service was meh. So, next time we go to Cozumel, this will be the spot to hit for breakfast, lunch and dinner for sure, we won't mess around anymore. Our complete breakfast check for 3 came to less than $20 US, but we left a $10 tip for the awesomeness of our waiter. read more

We had an early dinner here on New Year's eve. The food was average but our waiter seemed to be in a terrible mood. I spoke Spanish with him but he also knew some English. He got 2 of our orders mixed up which we ended up eating but he acted like it was our fault. Restrooms are clean and overall I would go here again, just hope for a different waiter. If you are looking for authentic mexican food and wanting to skip the over-priced tourist appealing places like margaritaville, then this is the place to go. You will have to make the short walk over a couple of blocks but it beats having to hear Britney Spears being blasted from Hooters or Fat Tuesday.
