It seems most often when I am driving in my car on the Thruway lately, my car exits at exit 16 thinking a quick pitstop at the Eileen Fisher outlet is a good idea. It is always a good idea! Especially when there are marked down sales -- I shop that part of the store first. Most of the time the sales people are helpful in finding another size and giving you feedback on the fit of the clothes. The dressing rooms are roomy. Most recently I picked up two items that were marked down for final sale and there was a 30% mark down on top of that. It is a pleasant, easy store to shop in. Service is bad. You get no service. Prices are still near the retail/mainline. The stylist I've worked with was leaving for home. I was trying on pants, and I walk out of the changing room, and the only lady at the cashier was like, "What do you want?" That yelper was not lying about the service. Great selection, much bigger than Secaucus but nonexistent service. You cannot find a stylist. read more

While the Eileen Fisher retail stores are not within my financial universe, I cannot say enough about the quality and the transcendence, elegance and simplicity of design. I highly recommend a weekend pilgrimage to the Eileen Fisher factory store in Woodbury (Thruway Exit 16). The staff, the knowledgeable and accommodating manager, Melanie, will be helpful, uncannily honest about what is right for you or not as you gather a season's worth of outfits for the cost of two dresses (including coupons) at a mall store. Because Eileen Fisher's clothes are classic, it will not matter if you purchase from last year's inventory. If your style is ultra colorful and trendy, this is not the store nor style for you. They used to be at the outlet mall I think, moved here some 8 years or so ago. Its a larger location. Parking here is easier too, but of course its not in the mall, so its a special stop if in the area. Eileen Fisher outlet stores have nice clothes and often have all sizes available. The changing rooms here are very easy to use, and that's always nice. 3 stars for a chain. read more

I disagree completely about the sales associates. I have consistently friendly, attentive and professional help from store employees. At the Central Valley company store, The Westchester (White Plains NY), Greenwich CT and other EF shops, always lovely and helpful. Even when I am just walking around, I can get advice; if I am shopping alone and not with a friend they all chip in to my questions which makes shopping easier for me to decide to buy or not buy. Jennifer & Karine (assistant manager) were extraordinarily helpful, knowledgeable & charming. They provided me with sale pricing and details about the care of fabrics. Jennifer offered to put my clothes in the dressing room while I continued to shop, as my arm became weighted down with a large pile of clothes for consideration. This place was totally worth the trip. Better than Secaucus. This place had great deals and it was near Woodbury commons without being inside it so if you wanted to go to the outlets you could but if you did not want to deal with the traffic/crowds you could kind of avoid it. They also has some gently used items there called "lab" donated and cleaned and their sale benefits a foundation for women and girls. It was a good experience and I will go again for sure. read more

I've pretty much given up on expecting a "happy" greeting, or any type of greeting for that matter, when you enter an Eileen Fisher store. I shop at the location in Central Valley and I also shop at the location in Burlington, Massachusetts. I've been told that there is a location in Manchester, Vermont, and I can't wait to visit them this summer, but I digress. Visiting the Central Valley location this past weekend, I had made the decision to completely lower my expectations of the sales staff. I'm not there to make new friends, and as we all know, "you are never disappointed when you have no expectations at all." The irony is, however, I thought I would go in with this new mindset and I would shockingly be bombarded with cheerful hellos upon my entrance and more offers of assistance than I would know what to do with, but nope. LOL! Not one single hello during the entire time that I spent in the store, and not one offer of assistance. Amazing! When I went to the checkout desk, I actually had to speak up to finally get attention, and let's be real here . . . we know they see us, and they surely know they see us, but they just choose to ignore us (with the exception of Loana B. who gets helped too much). I sarcastically asked the sales associate if there was a self-service check out line. She laughed and said that there was not. I laughed and said, "oh, there should be since you guys don't do anything." I also asked her if there was an employee contest where the winner is the employee who interacts the least with customers. Now, I have to learn to refrain from the sarcasm because this is a situation that simply can't be helped and although I came away with some great pieces, I felt so guilty for being so sarcastic with the sales associate. What I have learned from my numerous visits to Eileen Fisher, is that the only way you are going to have a great shopping experience is if you assure it for yourself. Lower your expectations of the sales staff and know that you are pretty much on your own Use your energy looking for those great pieces. Besides, there is always another fabulous fellow shopper or two, that you can chat it up with and share wonderful information with. read more

i have been going to eileen fisher sales since the ones on east ninth street. now, when i go to woodbury/harriman, i don't even have to bother with woodbury common. i get all my clothes at eileen fisher. i think it's funny that people complain about not being helped, i get helped too much, i wish they would leave me alone, i really do. there's one person who works there who i think is borderline psycho, but i like all the rest of them. i always find more clothes than i need or ought to buy, and the original retail prices i find are just ridiculous. i like the fact that the sizes are so generous, also they frequently have storewide sales of say twenty percent off absolutely everything. you can get something truly weird for four or five dollars. also, you get five dollars each for any old used eileen fisher clothes you return. i try to stay away from things like jeans and tailored slacks, which never work out, and wool, which doesn't survive my laundry processes. but i will snap up any and all coats i find there. sometimes i hate the color range, but eventually that stuff will get very cheap, twenty or thirty dollars, and then i will buy it and dye it. as i write, the whole store is shades of blue and grey, and white and black, and i want it all. my favorite are the photography-printed silks. i think it's much better quality-vs.-price than a store like jjill. i have finally figured out that someone like i am, who loves clothes but is somewhat clueless, needs to be able to layer in order to get a decent effect, and this store is good for that. there, they told me that as a fan i ought to go see the place they call 'the lab' but I haven't gotten a chance yet. read more

I have read some reviews here that complain about customer service and the high prices and would like to comment. First I have gone to this store a couple of times a year since they were in the actual Woodbury outlet area. I have always gotten excellent service when I needed it. I don't expect such full service in an outlet store. If I need help choosing outfits I will go to a regular retail store. An outlet is for searching and hopefully finding some bargains. Even though I know all outlets now have clothes made just for that store and the prices are never as cheap as you would want. At Eileen Fisher outlet I have gotten beautiful clothes at great prices and some others that were closer to regular store sale prices and even some that were almost full price. And I have always found some that were $59 or $79 that were over $200 retail. But I always know the quality is the same whatever I pay. The fabrics are wonderful and the clothes will last much longer than others. read more
