Hosts Kim and Kevin are so welcoming and knowledgeable about all the doings in Stratford. The house is impeccably decorated, with tons of books to read and spaces to sit outside and enjoy the gardens. Refrigerators for personal use. Rooms and beds are comfortable and many have private decks. Tea and cookies always available. The most wonderful thing is that a big thermos of coffee is brought up into hallway in early morning for self serve. How great is that? No getting dressed! Outstanding ample breakfast each day featuring top notch very fresh and innovative breakfast items. A station with granola, fresh breads, croissants, biscuits and homemade jams starts one off. Then a hot item of astonishing quality. Dietary restrictions accommodated. Cannot wait to return next year!

Kevin got back to me immediately and replied to my inquiry and we quickly and efficiently arranged everything. My friend and I arrived a bit earlier than we'd initially indicated, but both Kevin and Kim were welcoming and helpful. We were shown to a reasonable sized room on the second floor and all necessary amenities were explained to us. The decor of the place wasn't really my cup of tea, but the room was clean and cozy, so I can put aside my own personal aesthetic. The private bathroom was a decent size and well laid out. The bed was a wee bit smaller than I'd imagined, but it was very comfortable. My favourite part of my stay though hands down had to be my breakfast! Because Kevin and Kim knew we had an early start, they got breakfast going extra early for us. We started with freshly baked croissants, lemon poppy seed cake, and assorted fresh berries. DEELISH! Then we had poached eggs with hollandaise sauce with heirloom tomato on a wonderfully salty rosti. SO SO GOOD!!! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the splash of pesto on the tomato added a perfect kick. I was in heaven. I love coming to Stratford to see the theatre. Next year, I am totally coming back here, but I am going to make sure that I have dinner at the Old Rectory too!

Beautiful decor! It is so elegant and heavenly white with classical or piano concerto playing in the background!! The dining area could not have been anymore romantic and intimate. My beau and I loved the open brunch table in the centre of the main dining area, where you can get endless servings of fruits including strawberries, pineapples, and dragonfruits!! We have never eaten dragonfruits for brunch at any hotel before! So exotic! We ate so many slices. Service was a collective team effort and everyone was welcoming, attentive and super friendly. I can tell that they all enjoyed working there from their seemingly genuine smiles and bubbly personalities! The food there was so good!! Everything was cooked to perfection! We had their prix Fixe Easter brunch special and it was worth every dollar!! What a beautiful way to celebrate both Easter and my beau's birthday!! My beau was so impressed and thankful of me for booking and paying for brunch here that he is planning to treat me here next year for his not so surprising proposal!!! When the staff knew of his plans, the receptionist immediately gave us a tour of their suites and amenities!! What excellent and attentive service!! I will definitely come back here in the near future for a couple retreat or weekend getaway!! Stratford is such a cute town with so many good restaurants and hotels open during their famous and busy Stratford Festival season, but this hotel and restaurant really stood out to the both of us!! 5/5 would highly recommend!!

I stayed in the Polly Kelly Suite which was perfect for me since I love to have my coffee outdoors in the morning. The little balcony just through the French doors was ideal for this. The bed was comfortable and I loved that the room was equipped with a little bar fridge, a Keurig single serve coffee machine, wine glasses and a corkscrew. The location was close to everything and anywhere that I walked was welcome exercise full of beautiful scenery. Tony and Laura are wonderful hosts and all-around lovely people. Laura's breakfast was incredibly delicious and Tony's hospitable conversation could not be beat. The separate dining tables are a special touch because they allow privacy for the guest who prefers it, but they are close enough together to allow convivial conversation amongst others who want to chat. If you're looking for a charming, central B&B with exceptional hosts, delicious breakfasts and relaxing accommodations, Duggan Place is the spot for you in Stratford.

I booked through Booking.com which was easy and convenient. The owners of the B & B were extremely welcoming and gracious. The decorum is absolutely lovely and tastefully done. Comfy chic meets Victorian style. The house is a Victorian style home with up to date inviting furniture. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with extremely comfortable beds and bedding. Each room had their own bathroom with all modern amenities and wonderful fluffy towels. It felt like home away from home. After a wonderful sleep, we had the most delicious breakfast served. The fruit plate was presented like a piece of art. So fresh and tasty. Followed by another artfully plated egg frittata. The owners, Anthony and Laura are absolutely lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. I will absolutely be staying here again and not just for Theatre reasons. What a great place for a little weekend getaway to relax, rest and recharge. Perfect for one or a couples retreat or a girls weekend away.

How am I going to take in world class theatre in a charming town without a comfortable bed?!? Let me just say, The Shady Nook solves all of our problems, and more. I've been going to Stratford for 20 years. I've stayed in many places, hotels, BnBs, and this home was one of my favorites! The rooms were cozy (you can aptly read that as a little small), but that wasn't a major issue at all. I don't choose BnBs for room size, but for the community and the conversation. Let me just say, Mollie is a National Treasure. She has a kindness and openness that warms your heart and sings to your soul. She was a gracious hostess who ensured our stay was everything we needed it to be. David is the quiet man in the kitchen, and nothing short of a miracle worker. The breakfasts were delicious, and the scones simply heavenly. There is a wonderful back porch and a well maintained pool - perfect for a nice morning dip before heading to the theatre. Speaking of - it's a nice walk to downtown for the shows. The bottom line is this, if you read this review and don't book at The Shady Nook, you have denied yourself a slice of heaven.

D & K's location was within easy walking distance of downtown and all theaters. The furthest theater was the Avon and it still took 15 minutes or less. Although it's removed from downtown by less than a half mile, the setting was serene. It was easy to forget that a city of 30K was just down the road. The hosts Doug and Kathy were kind and the rooms were cozy (four rooms with new mattresses). The dining room and backyard were both standouts. Breakfast starts around 8:30. The food was AMPLE and delicious. We spent 2-3 hours chatting with the other guests each morning, a wonderful way to start the day. The backyard has an in-ground pool and the deck is well kept. Of note, the hosts are dog people and their Lhasa apso Sadie has the run of the place. She's cute and hypoallergenic. Check them out!

Close to downtown yet still in a quiet, sleepy residential area of its own. It's a longer walk from the train station (our walk wasn't helped by a -36C blizzard!), but still within reasonable walking distance (I'd say 25 mins max). Making a reservation was easy. Koleen & Ron responded immediately and confirmed our booking. At $110 a night, The Jester Room was a steal. There's no tv, and the room isn't giant, but the comfort couldn't be beaten. The bed was large and luxurious, the bathroom was perfectly appointed and there was plenty of closet and mirror space. There was even a complementary bottle of Merlot as well as chocolates and wine waiting for us in the room! (I assume this was a Valentine's special). Just outside the room there was a mini bar and a myriad of bath and shower items to pick from. The wifi was fast and consistent and there were some really fun and interesting books and magazines left in the room (Famous Quotes about Canada, for example). The breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, sausage eggs benedict and tea/coffee was absolutely delicious. Our hosts made stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable company and gave us invaluable information about the Shakespeare festival on in the summer. We are making it a point to return to Stratford in May and will definitely be staying here for our next visit.
