This place is always fun to walk! Every time I go there is something new to see. The music and forest like vibes are an escape from the everyday. So many different plants, if you don't find something you like, you just don't like plants. Some things can seem pricy, but for the most part the plants are affordable, and they sometimes have sales on certain plants. Staff are always helpful. EFG Orchids was referred to us by a lady who works at Pell's Citrus & Nursery. We were looking for direct-sun plants/flowers and succulents. While Pell's has me some, the lady was gracious enough to direct us to EFG which she said has a large assortment that we would probably like. Well she was right! We ended up buying a handful of items from EFG and actually had a great time. EFG has lots of land and a bunch of different animals on the property. We saw goats, turtles, emus, huge koi fish in a pond, and even a donkey! I saw signs for pigs but never saw any. Regardless, we didn't expect to see animals but were extremely happy because we are animal-lovers. It was so tranquil and beautiful on the property, so we really enjoyed ourselves. read more

So many great things about this place! First- it's like walking into a secret exotic fairy tale wonderland. Seriously. It's so tranquil, so many beautiful unique, hard to find plants that are so well tended to. Second- they offer very inexpensive orchid 101 classes. Third- they offer plant clinic services! Yes- orchid ER. My husband and I inherited a very old orchid from his mother, and it had been through the wringer over the years to say the least. George took it in, and helped get it cleaned up, re-potted, and has been helping me along the way in caring for it with any and all questions. Everyone that works at EFG is so helpful, knowledgeable and super kind. They are family owned as well! Fourth- they are not over priced at all! I have seen orchids at other nurseries especially big box nurseries in horrible condition priced the same or even higher at times. Beautiful grounds as well, my son even got to feed Koi in their Koi pond. This is a DeLand Gem- it's worth a travel for sure! read more

What's not to love about this place? Nothing! I recently came back here with family after Christmas, and the faint memories from our previous visit from one or two years ago rushed back. Although orchids is in the name and there really are a LOT of them inside, they seem to have a huge variety of plants including cacti and succulents, which have their own lovely section right at the back of the retail space. What I love most about this place is the calming and soothing effects just being here has on me, thanks in no small part to the peaceful music they have on. Another fave of mine is the space where the checkout station is located, along with the birds and a massive staghorn. My niece ended up buying all sorts plants, and we were glad to come along. I appreciate their work in maintaining the space, and hope they continue for another few decades. read more

Everyone is always goes above and beyond but without overly offering assistance. Everyone is super knowledgeable about all the items they have and are able to answer every question I've asked so far. This is the coolest and most interesting variety of plants I've seen at one store/shop. Their prices are fair and they don't price gouge. On top of that they have a loyalty card that they give you a discount on an item once you collect all the stamps - I will for sure continue going back to them to grow my plant collection read more

When you walk in, the place is filled with unusual, beautiful healthy and, I believe, happy plants. No sad plants here! Well laid out, and the staff is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about everything they carry. Even if you don't buy a thing, it's a wonderful experience. I was up front that I wanted plants that were hard to kill, as I'd failed before. No judgement, just showed me a variety of species/genuses that fit bill. While traveling on a backroad between Daytona and Deland I saw a sign that said Orchids and just had to stop. This greenhouse used to be only open to the trade but now is open to the public. There is a mind boggling collection of orchids, succulents and cacti at incredibly reasonable prices. Since I was flying back I wasn't sure the TSA would let me bring them on the plane but I bought some great cacti for our host. If I ever am driving back to NY I'm going to stop and add some specimens to my collection. read more
