This review is a revision of my previous 1 star review from before. Every mechanic you bring this warranty too will hate it, and fight it. After working with EFG I am convinced that their business model is essentially this.... 1. Deny every claim possible on the first submission with the expectation that roughly 25% of people will just give up, and pay out of pocket. 2. For the 75% of people that fight for what they deserve, they will then start a war of attrition where the goal is to fatigue their negotiation adversaries into submission by arguing about rates and the # of service hours required for a job to be completed. All of which results in you, the purchaser of the "protection plan," having to endure delays and frustrations, you will have to call and negotiate with the mechanic shop and EFG, all while coming out of pocket for a rental car. It's not smooth. It's not easy. It's not quick. They will pay for the work that needs to be done but you will have to fight every step of the way. Good luck. read more

Horrible company-horrible customer service-horrible representative Chris Epperling-who speaks over you and if you don't agree with his bully tactics he hangs up on you. Adjuster Paul Castle -decided after listening to two messages requesting call back felt he didn't need to return my call. I was sold a contract that clearly covers engine repair and they only want to pay $500 on a clause that is not applicable to the mileage per terms of the contract. Their so-called mediation is over the phone with the bully Chris Epperling...guess we're going to arbitration and news media to expose this company for the fraud and deceptive trade practices. EFG prays on people who don't know the law applicable to contracts. STAY CLEAR Of BUYING THEIR CONTRACTS. I bought a contract for a motorcycle. The bike started leaking oil out of the head. Unfortunately, even with the purchase of a vehicle service contract the repairs ended up costing me considerably due to EFG's refusal to cover various aspects of the repair. I ended up having to pay $244.33 on September 6th and $240.00 on the 27th, for a total of $484.33. Adjuster Tim Barnes was both belligerent and nonsensical in his assessment of my repair. He insisted that he knew better than the OEM dealer on how to repair a rare limited edition motorcycle. He also stated that EFG is not obligated to pay for the repair cost but what THEY think the repair costs. They base this on a document that apparently suggests the cost of a valve timing adjustment is lower than a valve cover gasket replacement.... even though the gasket replacement is part of the timing adjustment. No where in the contract does it mention this. EFG service contracts are not worth the paper it is printed on. read more

Update: They had this guy (Chris) contact me who was supposed to resolve everything. He told me he was going to cover part of my rental vehicle while they did a third transmission repair. I was pretty sure he was the same supervisor I'd spoken to before that never followed up with me but he said no, that was someone else. Then I caught him in the lie when I emailed him a receipt: he was in my email history and WAS the supervisor I'd spoken to before that didn't help me and didn't follow up. Guess what happened this time? Same exact thing. AVOID EFG LIKE THE PLAGUE! read more

Paid for all of my repairs even after the dealership misdiagnosed my vehicle and repeatedly lied to me. Dealership kept blaming EFG when in reality they misdiagnosed the issue. EFG provided some extra rental reimbursement due to shipping delays on the part they ordered. One star deducted because it was difficult to get in touch with someone to find out why the part was not being shipped from the third party supplier who they could not disclose to me. read more

Avoid this company at all cost. They will find any excuse to not pay for what is written in what is covered. My husband has bought a vehicle with Gene Messer volkswagen with over 100,000 miles and got a warranty that is a 2 star coverage with this company and from the beginning they fight tooth and nail to not cover any parts. What's the point of buying a milage warranty if they don't want to repair anything. They have no problem taking your money but will not pay when there is a repair that needs to be made. If only they fought this hard to make sure their customers were happy with their services then it would be a great company. Oh yea and you only have a limit as to what they will pay for (which they don't tell you) and if you go over that limit then you have to pay the rest of the amount out of pocket. So far, not so good. I need to speak to someone there regarding my coverage since my car has been at the dealer for repairs for going on 40 days. Since November 5th. With ANOTHER major holiday coming up without a vehicle, I cannot wait around for a call/email. I called and the recording states that I was calling within office hours (3pm Central on a Wednesday) yet it also states they are closed and to call during business hours. With the holiday approaching, I do not have time to waste.  Please get someone answering the phones, or at least do not LIE that you are closed. Received a letter offering a $250 discount to extend my warranty for an additional 5yr or 100k miles. Called the 800 # and got the lovely Tim on the phone. I asked Tim for the cost he said $126 a month. Asked for the overall cost $6041 total for 5yr/100k I said no thank you and Mr. Tim hung up immediately. My experience with this company (via an extended warranty from MAP) has been pretty poor. They seem to go out of their way to find any possible loophole or way out of covering items, even things that are word-for-word listed on the contract. If they spent that level of effort on trying to improve their service, they'd be in great shape. Here are some of the issues I've encountered based on several experiences with them. - Rear hands-free automatic trunk release. The contract states that they DO cover: Under ELECTRICAL: "power trunk release" and under COMFORT PACKAGE: "keyless entry system." Their reply: NOT covered. As this foot release feature is somehow not part of the system. - Motor Mount failure. They DID agree to cover a failed motor mount. However, the motor mount maintenance repair task from the vehicle manufacturer recommends an alignment, as the front subframe must be removed (my mechanic explained that it's up to the individual mechanic, based on how much work they had to do). They would NOT cover the alignment, as it wasn't listed as mandatory. However, my repair shop said that it would be needed based on the work they had to perform. Still would not cover. - Front CV joint damage. The contract states they DO cover: DRIVE AXLES: "all internally lubricated parts, drive shafts, constant velocity joints." My CV joint, an internally lubricated part of a constant velocity joint, was damaged because the CV boot tore. This is BY FAR the most common failure point for these parts. However, as the CV boot is not specifically listed as covered, they won't cover any of the damage to covered parts. So essentially they will only cover a CV joint if it magically failed with the boot still intact. I called to ask about this one, as this seems particularly egregious to me. I politely asked to escalate to a supervisor, and I sat on hold for 15 minutes and then they just hung up. My mechanic also provided feedback that they were argumentative over the individual items on the maintenance tasks, trying to cover as little as possible. They also want to use used parts wherever possible, even if the wait to get them is significantly longer. I can't verify that first-hand, but that's what my mechanic shared. He was not impressed with this company, and he works with warranty companies all the time. I also have an issue with the fact that they only cover 5 days in a rental car, but require additional inspections and documentation before the shop can order any parts. This can add many days to the process, which are all to be paid for out of your own pocket. Their service contract also has several typos and misspellings, which does not inspire confidence or professionalism. Overall, I will do significant research in the future to be sure I do not do business with an EFG Company subsidiary. I also HIGHLY recommend any of you considering their services do not use them. The hassle, stress, and annoyance are not worth it. I will also be contacting the dealership where I bought the policy, sharing my experience, and recommending they find a different warranty provider. Dealers don't really care who they use, as long as they make a little extra money in the F&I office. They'll want to use a company that their customers are happy with, and that definitely isn't this one. read more

If you are thinking of buying a service contract READ THIS you will be very happy you did. I have had TWO auto warranty contracts with EFG and for the most part the experiences have been professional and without incident. Something many auto warranty companies in this field can't boast about, BUT... On a recent major repair there had been some QC issues on an expensive part (transmission) that for a short time had changed my opinion of EFG. Ya, I was very angry. I am very happy to report that the issues I had with this particular claim, once I made it known to Lauri are in the process of being vigorously corrected. To be completely honest I can't say that I have ever had a company attack an issue as quickly and as professionally as EFG has in the last three days. I am truly impressed with the sincerity and speed in which my issue is being addressed. I am a two contract experienced EFG customer (two different BMW 7 series) I've had several claims and except for the transmission went very well and thus I had NO COMPLAINTS whatsoever. PROS: They approved all my claims without issue They did it quickly They paid the shop quickly I get to go home in my own car quickly Since they will never pay more than your car was worth when you bought in repairs, they make every attempt to keep ALL costs under control to preserve your contract integrity intact. CONS: This only applies to ONE claim (transmission replacement). All others went 100% positive. The inspector they used took too damn long to get to the shop and inspect the car. That delay translated into BIG car rental fees. EFG has an 8 hour rental car max. The IN-HOUSE approval for this claim was way too long - days in fact. (more rental fees) Shipping a huge part (transmission) from across the united states to my BMW shop translated into yet more rental car fees (5 days more). However, there is actually a good reason for this, but that reason does not soften the blow of almost $600+ in ADDITIONAL rental fees. When the transmission started to fail within weeks of being installed the call back to the "original" EFG claims staffer went poorly. Basically "no error codes, I'm sorry we can't help until something happens. Thankfully this was addressed by EFG leadership when I made my second attempt to get this addressed. So where am I now in this process you may ask? My car is currently in the BMW shop that installed the new transmission and they have identified that the unit is faulty and have contacted EFG. EFG in turn put them in direct contact with the Re-manufacturer of the transmission for a replacement unit. EFG greased the skids before my shop contacted them so they were not sent there blindly. NOTE: An additional mechanical issue was uncovered during the inspection and that too was APPROVED the very same day. ($800+ ya I know, it's a BMW and ya it sucks but they approved the repair quickly) They are even paying for some additional rental time until the car is complete. :-) Moral of MY story: Try to never write a review when you are mad. That just clouds things up. RECOMMENDED?: Hell yes I WOULD recommend EFG (and have) to friends of mine based on my positive experiences. ****Finally, if we look at this logically EFG is a HUGE company and they manage a lot of contracts. Truth is some people (like me) WILL have an issue at some point. However, if something like this happens to you USE the EFG contact (Lauri) here on YELP to see if she can address it for you quickly. My first hand experience says THEY CAN and will. Contact them BEFORE you write down some big negative mess (like I did), give them a chance to rectify the situation. You will be impressed. POTENTIAL BUYERS: Are you thinking about buying into an auto contract and do you have an expensive car that they cover - DO IT. 99% of my experiences with EFG in the claim, approval, and repair areas have went exceptionally well. And as you can see from some of my other reviews I can be VERY hard on a business that does not care about its customers - I am happy and relieved to say EFG clearly does. read more

I would never recommend EFG to anyone, in fact, dealing w/ the company has been one of the worst business interactions that I can remember. All I sought was a quote for canceling my extended warranty for my car. EFG refused to give me a quote and claimed it was the auto dealer's responsibility to provide a quote. I called the dealer, and the dealer refused to give me a quote, and told me to call EFG. Back and forth. Just awful. Stay away from this scam of a company. EFG arbitrarily refused to cover strut replacement on my Subaru Outback despite the fact that the Subaru dealer determined that the parts presented a safety issue and needed to be replaced. Struts are covered under my extended warranty, purchased through Nyle Maxwell's dealership, where the GM had produced a video testimonial for this company. Zero reason was provided other than--in their humble opinion--the parts didn't require replacement. I contend that if the dealer insists that the parts have failed, then the parts should be covered under the terms of the warranty, as the dealer is the authority on repairs for THEIR vehicle. EFG's delays meant the repairs on my car were delayed. Unacceptable. Perusing the other reviews, I see that I am not alone in my dissatisfaction with this company. read more

WFG Platinum warranty plan is barely worth the paper its written on. Its an doesn't cover any of the main parts of the vehicle, just the ancillaries, like the engine, just some bolts and belts, transmission, just the cooler, suspension, the arms and joints, cooling...a radiator shroud, electrical, some switches.... ITS A MASSIVE SCAM...avoid them like the plague. read more

My BMW 528I had a major engine failure on May 21st. As I took the turn into my community where I live, which is a steep narrow hill, my car had set of 3 major sensors. The car stopped and put itself into park, curbed the tires and automatically went into emergency park as well. As I got out of the vehicle at the same time there were other cars coming into the road I had to direct traffic and saw a large amount of oil and coolant being spilled not leaked onto the road. After waiting some time for a TT it was then I saw an abundance of fluids coming out from the engine. Once the vehicle was towed to Santa Rosa BMW they assessed the problem and it was clear the timing chain and oil pump had blew. Hansel put in a claim with EFG and as it took quite a while for the claim process to begin, after several inspections from a 3rd party inspector, my claim was initially denied. I began my own research and began to find out what the missing link was for the denial. I reached out to the marketing department on Facebook and they quickly gave me some names and numbers to contact other than the claims handler. Please, Please, know that should you have any issues with this warranty company or any other, it's imperative you have all of your written documents and a communication timeline. EFG took over an hour yesterday and again today to relook at my claim and after speaking with the service advisor and myself, I'm feel proud I purchased the premium plan from this company. I've never had to deal with such a large vehicle problem along with a warranty insurance company, so this is all new to me. I do know that there are reasons behind why a claim would be denied, but in my vehicles case, it wasn't substantiated. The claims management team went I think above and beyond for my claim and I attribute that to the morals and ethics of this company. I really just want my money back. I have filed the cancellation form 2 weeks after I had initially purchased. It has been 2 months and they still have not sent the check to the lien holder. How is it they get to keep doing this? I am going to launch a full on social media campaign informing perspective byers of the issues they will no doubt see. I will also speak to my lawyer about legal options. I can only assume by the ratings I am not alone on this issue. EFG took care of us in a very complicated situation. It was very complex and they did right by us. I have nothing negative to say about them. I always buy the extended service plan from the dealer on new vehicles, but this is only the second time I've ever needed to use it. The first one was seamless. This one, with EFG? Not so much. I'm in the middle of a claim that should have been settled within a day or two with a call from the dealer service center. When my transmission went out within the contract period, I was told it needed to be assigned to a "powertrain adjuster." That took two days for them to even respond to the dealership. Then we (myself and the technician) were told that they need to send out a third party inspector. This is an authorized dealer, not some backyard mechanic. That'll take another two days. Only this week, there's a holiday, and then it hits the weekend. By Monday, we'll be into the 7th day without actually getting any work done, when I could have had my truck back in 2-3 days. BE AWARE that EFG's "Premium" policy only allows for 5 days for a rental, and any more is out of your own pocket. No exceptions, even though it's impossible to get a decision in that time, much less repairs. This is, of course, assuming that they choose to cover you at all. We'll see. Now, here's a real kick in the seat. They apparently told the dealer that they wanted to bring him a used transmission to put in my truck. Luckily, I take my vehicles to a reputable dealership, and my tech told them he couldn't install anything that didn't come directly from GM. I now have this sinking feeling that EFG is going to try to produce some abstract loophole to try getting out of covering my claim. Hopefully, in the end, I'm wrong about that part. But this dragging their feet, when everything has been properly dotted and crossed, is infuriating. ANY DEALERSHIPS MIGHT WANT TO READ THIS: I'm advising any consumers buying a car to first find out who provides their extended service plan, and make sure to get the detailed contract before signing anything. If it's MAP by EFG, just walk away and find a new dealer. Even in the best case scenario, it's going to cost you more when you need them. Worst case remains to be seen. I'll be updating this with the end results of this unnecessarily stressful process, hopefully with something more positive to say, but here is my first impression of EFG. I thought I was buying peace of mind, but for now, it seems I just paid someone else $3000 to cause me distress, and continue to cost me beyond the $100 deductible that this should have been. Update 7-9-2019: We are now in the eighth day, going into the ninth. Inspector has long come and gone. When I call to find out the status, I'm told that the adjuster still hasn't made a decision. When I asked how long will that take, I was told, "There's no way to know." Keep in mind, I'm already on the hook for $200+ for a rental and going. Not to mention the deductible itself. "We'll be there for you if you ever need us!" Last update 7-15-2019: Okay, so on the 10th, the adjuster called the dealer and told them that they were willing to send a remanufactured transmission. Again, my tech told them that he couldn't install parts from somewhere else. We were told that I would have to cover the difference to use dealer parts. My frustration with the whole situation is now running rampant. About an hour later, the adjuster called back and told the shop that his boss had contacted him and that they would cover the entire job. Finally, some good news. I was told that the the rental was still on me, though. Still, it could have been worse. Later that day, I get a call from Scott, Sr. Manager, Client Services. He's letting me know, in his words, "I got an email about your review, and I can't argue with you. I'd be upset, too." He said that he got in contact with the adjuster and told him to cover the entire job, and that he was also letting me know that they were going to cover the entire rental. In the end, I was only out the $100 deductible. What it should have been from day one. If he can 't argue with my frustrations, then I can't see how this process should have been allowed to play out this way. I can't see how ONLY after reading an online review, EFG decided that they needed to take care of the consumer. Ultimately, they did take care of it, which is why I raised the rating on this review. But considering what it took to get them to take care of it, I can only increase this to a 3 star rating. read more

I'm not exactly sure where the bad reviews are coming from. In all of my dealings with efg, they have been very easy to work with. In fact I rarely have to speak to them. I give my dealerships my warranty info and it's handled. I have had 2 turbos replaced, an engine block, 2 a/c systems, transmission cooler. I was so impressed I made sure to buy my 2nd car covered under the full wrap, and power train, roadside. Luckily my other car hasn't had trouble, but if it does I'm glad i have them covering me. Love everything about this company. I will never buy a new car and will only buy a used covered buy them. read more

I purchased a 2015 ats back in 2019 nob Bob moore Buick GMC told me that they were good and would use new parts to fix my vehicle well guess what it was a lie they are putting a used rear end in my car! I talked with the manager at Bob moore they said when the started using them they were using new parts. Do not do anything through this company. I have waited on them for over a week to instate my paperwork correctly while I am without the bike for another week. Now I have to wait on an inspection by someone who has no clue about bikes to tell Harley Davidson if they are fixing the right stuff. They are horrible. I finally got a manager who helped me after I had to scream and cuss at them to get them to finally get the bike back after two weeks of getting paperwork done correctly. The only good thing that came out of this company was finding Antonia because she is the only one willing to go the extra mile without me getting frustrated and cussing. Yes I was in the wrong for yelling and cussing but it took that to get the company to actually do anything. Thank you for Antonia. Beware, auto warranty scams are becoming a plague of biblical proportions in America right now. I emailed "Jared" as "Laurie L." advised, and after 5 months and several emails, still no response. I also heard read the Minnesota attorney general is filing suit against this company for violating their own 30-day refund policy. They want you to pay them some money in order to be able to read the contract you're paying for, and claim that they'll allow you to cancel if you don't like it. Not only did it take forever but the Rental reimbursement was only $40 a day up to $200. 1 week compared to two months is crazy. DO NOT USE this company and its affiliates - SCAMMERS. Also they harrass my cell phone. The company and their affiliates in their auto group repeatedly spam my cell phone 3-4 times per week with fake numbers. They started calling me back in January. They would repeatedly hang up and when I called back it was a fake number. I was so sick of them. I finally pretended to be interested today 3/26/15 just so I could figure out who kept calling me. The call was routed to Turnkey Auto Group then routed to EFG. The call was routed to 3-4 different people. I have no idea how they got my Car, Vin information. I told EFG they were scammers, I did not believe them, and to quit calling me. They were just pushy like car sales people and kept talking and talking. I finally ended up having to hang up on them. I felt it was my duty to report them as they are probably scamming a ton of people and these poor people have no idea. I filed complaints with the BBB, Texas Attorney Generals, Florida Attorey General, and FCC. I hate these type of companies that go after the little guys who don't understand. read more

Paid 3,000.00 for this policy through the dealership when we purchased a BMW. Had a catastrophic turbo failure which resulted in damage to the engine on October 10, 2018. Mechanic informed me that this is a common issue with BMW's. Company said they would only pay for turbo repair. It was because of the turbo failure that the engine was damaged. Car only has 46,000 miles and received scheduled maintenance. Everyone has been rude and unprofessional. In the process of filing the appeal, mediation and arbitration if necessary. Will follow up. Went from 1 star to 3 stars because Scott looked into claim, took the time to speak with the mechanic and myself and approved the claim. It's a shame that I had to fight with this company for three weeks before Scott stepped in..... read more

I had a contract with Naviss for my 2007 DTS, the extended warranty started in 2012 and was to last for 6 years. I recently traded the DTS in at a dealership and tried to cancel my contract for any refund I might have coming back. They sent me the form to apply for this refund and I completed it and returned it. When they received it they told me I had to prove that I had paid for the contract. I was to provide a copy of credit card receipt or check etc. At this time I don't even remember how I paid for the contract. They say since Naviss is now out of business I have to prove my payment. EFG should have done due diligence when they accepted the contract from Naviss. This company is worthless and can not be trusted. I now realize that I never had an extended warranty and if I had made a claim they would have squirmed out of that also. Avoid EFG at all cost! read more

This company is responsible for providing what's known as "gap insurance" so that if your vehicle is totaled due to something like a hail storm, you are not responsible for any remaining balance on your car loan. My son purchased "gap insurance" from this company and his car was deemed totaled by Geico after the major hailstorm in Fort Worth on March 16, 2016. Just today, June 8, 2016, he has received via email the EFG claim report he needs to fill out, even though he was told by the lender on several occasions that they had contacted EFG on his behalf. He has continued to make payments on the car since March 16, even though he has not been able to drive it!! read more

Do not buy a warranty from this company. I purchased an extended warranty for $2000. The first time I had a break down, I called them and they gave me a claim number and said they would get back with me. Well that never happened. Since then I called and they would say they would get back to me. Again, they never got back with me. I wrote them and never got a response. Long story short, I had to pay for my own repairs. Cannot express how infuriated I am with this company. Because of them and their unwillingness to respond, my car has been in the shop for an extra 40 + days than it should have been. My adjuster quit answering my calls or emails over a month ago and the claim is still unpaid. I have been having to purchase parts out of pocket to get work moving while trying to get warranty to do anything. They maxed out any rental car expenses at 10 days even though they are the reason it's taking longer. Such a horrible experience. read more

Someone from this company called my residence and talked to my husband who is diagnosed with memory loss. Somehow the person on the phone convinced my husband to give them his debit card number and sign up for a warranty policy. The policy they sold him was for a auto that we had sold 3 years ago. It is not legal to sell any kind of warranty or insurance policy to someone who does not have an insurable interest in such auto. The bank reversed the charge on the debit card due to them committing fraud. In addition to this illegal process this company wasn't even able to get the correct legal name from my husband. Sooo, the name on their illegal policy isn't even under my or my husband's name and issued a policy for an auto that is not titled in either of our names. This company is now wanting us to pay for two months premiums......for a non-binding warrenty policy and on a car that does not exsist. read more

Purchased a Vehicle Service Contract and Paint Protection by EFG when I bought my car from Moritz Kia, and they have already saved my bacon 3 TIMES (not to mention paid for themselves)! As a law enforcement officer I believe in Integrity and respect. Id never think to do a NEGATIVE review especially when companies have been impacted and families survive because of this company. But I realize how taken advantage I was, how this company in my eyes did not hold up to what I thought was good coverage. In fact, I didn't get covered at all and my gap insurance is still in effect until March 2021. I was denied simply because I was late with my finance company. Nothing that I thought had to do with the coverage that someone so excited to drive off the lot with his new car had to think about. Knowing that I can handle payments (as the bank saw with my approval) but not knowing that a few years later I would have financial issues that would impact the ability to pay on time, but not to the extent that I would lose my vehicle. Well EFG, thanks for everything. I lost my car in a hit and run accident, injured my back, and no coverage. I feel like I lost my soul and the representatives at EFG stated we would have paid 5k of my remaining loan but I was late. At the time of the accident I wasn't late but had a larger balance than it should have been but you guys didn't even have the decency to even pay what you told me "you would have"! I know that I had a balance I was responsible for and I accept that, but you took advantage of the little people and some right now don't even know they are next. I will be content with my God that I did the best I could with what I was given. As I try to fix my now ruined credit, and get back on my feel (literally), you too will have to answer to someone much higher. Bless you and have a good day. read more

I agree with the other Reviewer. If you are buying/ leasing your car, do not buy from This third party insurance the dealer would offer you. They pay for The coverage on a prorated basis even though you have warranty for Damages. read more
