Some solid restaurants are available as well but they do seem to close early. People are friendly and more than willing to take a photo of you standing in front of a giant taco.

Big fun! - - - - - -…read more- - September, 2024 Visit We learned of Casey, IL, several years ago in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch article sharing how Casey is home to many of the world's largest items; at the time of the article, the total was 8 items; the total is now up to 12 of the world's largest items. This year we visited for a third time and it gets better each trip! Casey is pronounced Kay-zee, and Jim Bolin grew up there and is the person responsible for starting the world's largest items; the wind chimes were first, then the golf tee, and now several items. This visit we saw: 1. World's Largest Teeter Totter 2. World's Largest Wind Chime (first item) - we rang it 3. World's Largest Barber Shop Pole 4. World's Largest Mailbox 5. World's Largest Rocking Chair We also saw some big things that are not the world's largest: 1. Ruler 2. Pencil 3. Knitting Needles 4. Nails Twisted Around Each Other Puzzle 5. Antlers At the world's largest mailbox, we were happy to see that the ice cream shop was still open, and we all enjoyed two scoops: - Salted Caramel and Superman - Salted Caramel and Mint chocolate Chip - Salted Caramel, 2 - Zanzibar Dark Chocolate and Strawberry Very good! We saw the poem "God Made a Farmer" and listened to the Paul Harvey rendition of that important poem, on YouTube as we drove through town. Thank you to the Bolin family and all at Casey's Big Things in a Small Town Workshop who make these wonderful things for us all; the entire town makes you smile, and the world needs more smiles! ----- ----- -----

    Urbana Parking Garage

    Urbana Parking Garage

When was the last time you were like, "I'm in downtown Urbana, where can I park?" I can tell you…read moreexactly the last time it was for me, it was when the parking deck was closed. This parking garage has it all. What are you looking for? A place to park? It's got it. A place to stand and wait for the bus, because you don't have a car? It's got that too! Do you want a dry place to have a cigarette while you are enjoying the dining experiences that downtown Urbana has got? Guess what, this place has (literally) got you covered! Located conveniently behind the back doors of some fine restaurants (Sitara, Crane Alley) this is some of the most expedient parking you will ever come across. I'd assume most of the day it is used by people at the court house, people who aren't regulars at the court house. At least for the paid spots. There are plenty (probably too many) rental spots during the day, but after 6, it's basically a free for all. And it's literally a free for all, since after 6 and on weekends, you don't have to pay. Not that it's paying that much, because it's only 25 cents for the first 2 hours and 50 cents an hour after that. So, the most you'd pay is if you showed up at opening and left at 5:59. Stick around for another 5 minutes and it's a day of free parking! Thanks URBANA! They have recently installed a bike fixing station, so if you have something on your bike that needs repair, you can be your own pit crew in the garage! Heck, if you are just looking for a place to work out during lunch, you can run up and down the stairs for a while (there are 2 stories!!!) It used to be the home of the Urbana Beer and Chili Cookoff, which later became the Urbana Beer and Food Truck... thingy. It was a place to get out of the rain when Urbana Blues Brews and BBQ still was in Urbana. (Odd, Urbana Blues Brews and BBQ is in Champaign, as is the Bloomington Gold Corvette Show) I think my favorite part of the garage is when you go to leave, coming from the east side, and you have to make sure you drive up on the right, so you don't go into another person who really wants to use this awesome parking deck! Apparently, it's currently undergoing construction to maintain the integrity of the structure. So, this pretty girl is getting all done up for you!

Holy cow, I am never flying out of Lambert again! This airport is SO easy to navigate. Parking is…read moreinexpensive and plentiful. There are only a couple of gates, so the security line moves very quickly and there's usually only 1 or 2 flights leaving around the same time, so there's like 100 people at the airport total! We flew out and back for the holidays and our stress level was next to nothing. (Which, if you know us, is like, amazing.) I'm from a small western city and am used to these smaller places that have only the basics and get the job done. Not every place needs to be Minneapolis. (IYKYK) But if you've never been to an airport like this, it might elicit a giggle or at least a smile because of its size. That said, it's updated and clean and bright. Plenty of stalls in the ladies room (go to the left! There's more stalls over there!) So easy, so clean and simple. I liked it a lot more than the hustle over at Lambert. Downsides: not much to eat or browse, but it's not nothing. There's a small magazine/snack/gum store. There's no Starbucks or other name-brands, but there is a nice little cafe and a good staff making hot breakfast sandwiches or grilled cheeses or lattes. But c'mon, if you're flying a discount airline are you really concerned about the brand of coffee? Anyway, 4 shiny stars.

I am such a fan of this airport and using Allegiant for flights! I find that flying through a…read moresmaller airport is way easier for me and creates less anxiety as an anxious flyer. Allegiant is a decent airline to fly though. Yes, you have to pay for everything, but it's no different from other airlines and whenever I do a cost comparison with other airlines, it always turns out to be cheaper, even if it's a few dollars. They have done a lot of constructions to the airport of the years and the terminals are just so much nice. The security line is usually quick and the TSA agents are actually quite friendly. Parking is super cheap if you have to leave your car there for a few days. The best part is that whenever I go to pick up or drop off people, I can park my car to walk inside with people and then leaving is usually free since they offer 3 hour or less parking for free! I love being able to greet my family or friends when they arrive in the baggage claim area and I think it's great to drop people off and say goodbye at the security line. Overall, this is always going to be my top choice for an airport/airline.
