Best burger in town and area by far. Just amazing. We split the massive "hot one" with Jalapeños, bacon and peppered cheese. Berto cooked it perfectly. The tater tots were crispy and delicious. Onion rings perfect. Cooked in beef tallow. Mouth watering. Austin (our server) was fantastic. Really friendly, had great stories and history. There were some parking by the front but we ended up parking in a lot in the back. when we came in it wasn't busy at all, but it progressively got more busy the time we were there. Inside was super quant and super cute and old fashioned; with an old school diner vibe. We were seated quickly, and we knew what we wanted. Holy smoke is this place awesome!! I'd marked this place as one to go to on my road trip and it was absolutely fantastic. The people who work there were as nice as could be (Austin and Robert - hopefully, I spelled their names right). Because I was on a road trip and was doing a lot of sitting I "only" got the 1/2 burger and thought I wouldn't even be able to finish that, but it was so good I just scarfed the whole thing down. When I was there (early May 2024) some of the surrounding roadways were blocked off by some construction of a really big building (I think some county building). The city or the state, or whoever is blocking off the roads should provide better direction on how to get around the construction as it's a major highway that passes by. While I had to squirrel around to get here, it was absolutely worth it. Visit this place and you won't be disappointed! read more

It's a requirement to try an Effie's burger at least once ! Small kids could split one 3 or 4 ways.... Lighter appetites could do just fine on 1/2. Eat a whole one and you'll be beyond full. They're huge. "Huge" is an understatement. Fries were fabulous. Burgers were good... not to disparage a landmark restaurant but we hoped for more seasoning in the meat... and less of the thick bun. A true dive in Lewiston! The owner is a fun woman and sweetheart who will make you feel welcome and glad you decided to choose this restaurant any day of the week. Holy heck, how did I miss this spot for so long?!!? On a recent "corona cruise" we socially distanced ourselves here from Spokane. I'd heard friends speak of this place before saying that their burgers are legendary. It was on the list but never a priority--a decision I regret because my friends were RIGHT! Burgers are ridiculously oversized. One burger could easily feed two people and we were silly enough to each order fries. Even though they were super busy, we didn't wait more than about 15 minutes to get our food. There was no seating on account of the 'Rona so we had a picnic in the car. She answered all of our questions and brought us our burger and onions rings very quickly. The building interior is old and worn out. The booths need to be replaced, and some ceiling tiles look ready to fall. The only things that are "new" and clean are the live-edge bar and the front window (we know the story). Our burger was delicious but difficult to eat cut into quarters. Many reviews state that the meat is unseasoned, but we thought it was tasty. The onions rings on the top of the basket were hot and crispy, but as we worked our way to the bottom of the basket they were more and more soggy. I am going to give this to you as I see it, this place is a total dive! I totally mean that in a nice way. It is like stepping back 20 years in time and the prices are exceptional for what you get! Its a small place in a very old building and kind of set up like old diner, meets small bar, meets a 1970 house kitchen. Service was fast and friendly. Now for the exciting part. This place serves 1 pound burgers....only! Sure you can order 1/2 of one which is still big since they are like 10" across! The hamburger was cooked perfect and the toppings were great. The big bun was even toasted and the onion rings I had were very good too. Did I mention that a tap beer cost $2? Or that a large pitcher of beer (68oz?) for $6.50!!!! The lady that was "helping" me didn't apologize about the wait time and seemed irritated that I kept asking about my order. I was not impressed with the service I received. The way it seemed to me was that they did not start my order until after I had arrived to the restaurant 35 minutes after I had already called the order in. Effie Burger. Burger's all they do, and they are the best. Whenever I go to Lewiston that's where I eat. The meat is the star here- no fancy add-ons to hide a mediocre burger- slightly steak-y but tender. They get it fresh from a local meat cutter. Also you get whole leaf iceberg lettuce, not shredded or some designer bs. The only drawback here is no hand cut fries (which btw I understand are a pain to cut then double fry but I would pay a premium for!) just frozen undesirables- I opt for the tots which are cooked Idaho style real crispy and served with fry sauce. read more
