We got a table outside and the owner let us have our dog with us at the outdoor seating area-supernice. We decided to start with a mix of tapas to share and among those the chevre on toast and the baconwrapped dates were fantastic!!! For main course two of us had the Kotsi (slow cooked lamb knuckle) and they were so crazy about the tender meat!! We also had a very greek moussaka and bifteki-seriously soooo goood!!!! 6 tapas, superfriendly staff, 4 amazing greek experiences-ours for just 900 kr (including drinks of course) mmmmmm ..a throwback to your favourite greek island restaurant!!

Since most locals don't eat out habitually, the lunch menu exists more to keep a restaurant on the public's radar rather than as a means to make a profit. Thus, many lunch menus present great deals to entice eaters to return later for a more lucrative dinner out. This is surely the case at Yalla Yalla. My husband and I were wondering around the Linné neighborhood, feeling peckish, when we noticed the lunch specials posted at this Mediterranean restaurant. For under ten bucks (65 kr), we got salad bar access, an entrée, coffee, and a cookie. It sounded good and we were hungry. We anticipated a quantity/quality trade off, but boy were we wrong. This meal was the intersection of excellent, cheap, and abundant. The salad bar included a wide variety of tasty pickled vegetables, cumin spiced potatoes, fried and plain pita, greek salad, olives, and assorted fresh vegetables. Our entrees (flank steak with potato purée and bernaise sauce for him; moussaka for me) were generously sized, delicious and artfully presented. For example, my husband's flank steak arrived on a wooden plank, the purée piped elegantly around the edges and surrounding pools of fresh bernaise and vegetables. Everything was seasoned excellently and seemed made of high quality ingredients. For reals, this would have cost at least $20 in San Francisco, and thats without the salad bar and coffee/pastry. Highly recommended, particularly for those looking to eat well on a shoestring.

I haven't tried any greek place that is so near in perfection of their gyros pita as Meat the Greek! And the soutzoukakia also had an authentic taste! One star off since the place is not cosy itself, but please expand and open a taverna?!

Here's the story we're in Göteborg and getting peckish so we go into this huge food hall with all kinds of fishmongers, cheesemongers, butchers, delicatessens and restaurants. It was a cool and rainy day and saw that this restaurant had "Greek soup" as a their lunch special. Sounded great. The soup had plenty of fish and potatoes in a kind of creamy soup stock. But it was both lukewarm and tasteless. We had to sask for the bread that the menu said came with the soup. I asked the counter lady to please heat my soup. It came back warm but not hot -- and it was still tasteless. We then got some hot sauce and it was slightly better. My advice: try one of the other tempting restaurants in the food hall.
