DON'T CALL ER FUELS - EXTREMELY DISHONEST COMPANY!!
Since January 2007 we've contracted with Eel River Fuels, all the while having much uncertainty of their billing practices. Our tenants have continually questioned their invoices, which we originally thought were honest mistakes on the part of ER Fuels and tried to smooth things out with our tenants. Over the years, several tenants have finally refused to use their propane heaters and bought their own electric heaters due to the suspicious charges they've received for propane. Looking back, we realize we should have acted sooner and changed propane companies years ago.
"Al" once told us that if there were ever discrepancies in accounting, ER Fuels just adds a few dollars onto each invoice till the amount is paid. (If record keeping was efficient, there shouldn't be discrepancies).
Now we're sure ER Fuels has been hugely over charging our tenants. On numerous occasions we've contacted their office in hopes of getting assistance to understand the mysterious charges, only to find "Candy," their office help, rude and completely unable to explain anything on the bills. Candy could never even tell us when the meters were read. To make matters worse, none of ER Fuels invoices have ever shown billing dates or meter readings.
Recently we were billed $115.23 for an apartment whose only use of propane is for heat. When we explained to Candy that the tenant was using electric heat and that the pilot lights had not been lit, she said she had no idea why, but the amount was correct. Then she proceeded to send us an additional invoice of $41.26 for that same apartment, total billed $156.49 for an apartment with absolutely no propane usage!
Needless to say, we cannot tolerate ER Fuels unethical practices any longer and have changed propane companies. At this point, we feel we've been patient with ER Fuels to our (& our tenant's) hurt and would like to warn anyone who may be shopping for propane companies to think twice before calling ER Fuels. If you contract with them, you may be making a huge mistake and inviting a real nightmare into your life! read more
