Besides lots of pumps--which means you usually don't have to wait--and competitive pricing---makes it a great choice. It is has a large convenience store with lots and lots of snack foods. There ice cream and candy sections were middle-of-the-road. They also have an automatic car wash. I guess if you want cheap thrills you can leave your windows down when you drive through it.

And here I am trying to stay awake in the fog towing a big trailer without a hot cup of coffee, and my gas tank heading towards fumes... On Thanksgiving, no less! Found me a Speedway, and pulled in. Gasoline prices are hysterically high, and at $4.99 a gallon, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Too tired to do either. I ambled inside and found a small but clean and well-stocked gas station store. The restroom entrance is sort of behind the counter, but the nice young lady behind there told me to help myself. Clean restrooms that didn't make me contemplate projectile vomit. Bonus. I filled a 20 oz. Paper cup with hot "100% Colombian" coffee. Looked burned but passed the sip test, especially after a liberal amount of French Vanilla creamer. The gal behind the counter was really nice-- we laughed a bit about how her grandma was doing all the cooking this year, and I smiled and nodded, knowing I still had a lot of kitchen duties ahead of me when we got home from camping. Easy on and off the freeway, and while the Starbucks at the same exit wasn't open yet, I can't say I wanted to try navigating the lot with my trailer anyway. Ah it has been 5 years since I last reviewed this spot and little has changed…read more We come in for the local items we have yet to t leave disappointed. We continue to buy the Humboldt Bay Coffee ($18 for a 2.5 pound bag) and a 2 pound bag of Black Oak Coffee Roasters for the same price. Both are excellent In addition they have a good selection of Mendocino Spirits and I highly recommend their Low Gap Bourbon. AS with many things we do we have some rules that help us get out of Costco with our pocketbooks and dignity intact: 1) NEVER EVER go in hungry. That 25 gallons of dill pickle chips is much easier to resist on a full stomach.... true story there. 2) Avoid the free samples. People seem to lose their minds with this stuff. They abandon carts with crying babies, block isles, etc all to get that tiny portion of hummus. I have been shoved aside by someone desperate to get a free piece of cheese. Honestly I have seen more dignity from actual starving people in a disaster zone but I digress. 3) Avoid the weekends like the plague. 4) See #1 5) Go often. Costco uses alot of psychology and the fear of missing out is one of them. Odd items you must have pop up then go never to return. I CAN'T MISS OUT AGGGGGGG 6) Know your codes: At costco any price ending in 0.97 means it has been marked down. Any price that is not a 0.99 or .97 such as say 0.49 means it has a manufacturers discount. and price with an * on it means its done and will not be reordered so stock up. If it ends in a .00 or a 0.88 a manager has reduced the price at that location to clear it out. 7) When in an unfamiliar city head to the Costco. They always stock local items you can't find at yours (like two pounds of single origin Kona coffee for 30.00 at the Kilaua / Kona store etc.) and have cheap gas.

Plus the station is cleaner than some no name discount that has squeegees that are all falling apart and no soap in the holder. I got a couple of gallons of gas, just so I wasn't a total freeloader using the window cleaning supplies and paper towels. This suburban SUV gets trashed with mud and road dirt. The credit cards at the pump worked fine. There, now the windows are clean and I can see out of them again!

I didn't have any coffee at home. So this coffee was important that I get. I went back and explained the problem. He did not take me serious. I had to pay for a refill in the same cup. I showed him it's bad, he didn't care. Said it must be because it's old. I said you should have given me one for free, at least give me another cup. He said fine take another cup, rudely arguing with me over it. So I paid $5 for some gas station cofee and carefully got it home but my whole morning ruined over this fight. I know we live right next to the homeless shelter, so I'm sure he has to deal with a lot of crap. But a good paying customer should not be treated like I was today. By Carlos. The whole place is a bit sticky.
