This review is written as a designated driver…read more I found the waiting room to be stark and very uncomfortable. It would have been nice if they had some tables for folks who brought laptops to do work while waiting for the patient they were with. There were a couple of us who were balancing our computers on our laps. The chairs provided were not designed for long term sitting, they need a little more cushioning to be comfortable. It was a nice touch that they did have family friendly movies playing to entertain you while you waited for your friend/family member. The staff members that I dealt with were rather cold. There was no warmth or personality while communicating with them. Also, there were no employees of color. My friend even said the same thing when I was taking her home. She said, everyone who took care of her in the back medical area was white. In this day and age, that makes me uncomfortable.

Once I finally got ahold of someone, my appointment was three weeks out. That appointment got cancelled because the doctor had to go elsewhere. My VOICEMAIL notification of that was on Wednesday (appointment on Thursday). Yes, they called on Monday, but what does that matter if I don't answer and you don't leave me a voicemail? I've been in pain for months, probably gonna see about switching doctors if this is how hard it's going to be just to get seen. "We called on Monday." Yeah, thanks for that.

I called SLUCare on the search for a new Primary Care Physician, and they happened to have an…read moreappointment open with Claire Shapleigh in a week, which is uncommon for primary care. I did a quick google and decided to go ahead and check her out, she is a Physicians Assistant which I actually prefer. I saw the same Pediatric Physician my whole life, then switched to Family Medicine where I was another 9 years, so I've been anxious to find someone new in St. Louis where I recently moved. I'll tell you what, Claire didn't disappoint. And to be honest, I think I like her better than my Pediatrician AND first adult physician combined. She was warm and inviting, listened to everything I had to say, had great advice, and was super knowledgeable. She's also trained on Pap smears, so for the women out there, check her out, she's a one stop shop. She would be an amazing provider for anyone. I could go on forever about how amazing she is, but you're just going to have to check her out yourself. If you're on the search for a new primary care provider, look no further, Claire is your girl!

Since SLUCare is associated with St. Louis University School of Medicine, the doctor you see consults with fellow professors, and instructs and mentors students. I think there's a lot of competency and accountability built into a connected system like this, and that makes me more confident about the quality of care I'm receiving. Of course, sometimes it means that an extra doctor or medical student is sitting in on your exam. This may not feel so wonderful if you're shy. In my case, when a couple of young doctors peel back my privacy gown to check me out, it just means I have more material to weave into the tall tale I tell my wife. During last week's visit, I started out with obligatory stops at stations for insurance-billing, registration, and nurse medical history review. Then, since my last dermatologist recently moved out-of-area, I was introduced to Dr. Tarbox, whose manner was just about the best I've ever experienced in a physician. She immediately made me feel comfortable, really listened to me, did the full-body skin check, explained thoroughly what she was seeing, went away while the nurse pricked the needles in to numb me up, then carried on a pleasant conversation while she sliced and bandaged my face and neck. After about a week, you can look at me and not cringe - I am no longer hideous!

Being able to get (basically) immediate care was really great. I joined the waitlist online and made my way there when it was my turn. They started me out with a hearing test, and then I met with the doctor. She prescribed me with some meds to try to help the problem, and gave me a couple of possible causes for my attack. It was still so early, so it was hard to eliminate all of the possible factors. I do wish I was given a print out and more information, as I think it would have been helpful for my future appointments at other doctors, but I walked out empty handed. I continued to have problems and called again the next day. The doctor was pretty prompt in calling me back which I genuinely appreciate. All in all, it's a solid service given what it is- walk in. Front desk was really helpful, and everyone was really kind.

As I wanted to be seen to have my ears cleaned, I thought it would be easy. The website was a no go, as the staff would have seen me in a week. So I dropped in or walked in as they now allow. The walk in process ended up taking about 60 minutes. Not terrible, but not exactly as expected. As I will be traveling and not back in town for a while, I wanted to get this done. I suggest and will do in the future, schedule with ample time and will see if that is any faster. The concept is great, but not well ex

Going to a new pain dr is extremely stressful. My last 3 retired. So i sat in waiting room 3 hours 45 min. Finally was called back where I waited more. He finally comes in where i start relating my problems. He has a look of "extreme - hurry up i could care less- on his face. We spoke all of 10 min. Due to my job of 30 years of owning 8 martial arts schools, an riding an showing speed horses, and a car landing on top of me what my body has been thru with injuries has left me at times crippled. But this is what got me most. I had taken a trip to AR to look at houses. I was in such pain in left side (had been for yrs. This was worst. I tried to go to ER the night befor i left but couldnt drive myself the 11/2 hrs to get there. So next morn i had to drive the 4 hr trip home. i was passing out from pain almost wrecked about 8 times. Almost side seiped a biker an lost control. All over the road. Came to, and pulled over. Somehow i made it. So I proceeded to tell dr, how bad it was, blacking out from pain and he said, " I DONT HARDLY BELIEVE IT". Calling me a liar essentially. or saying lets find out why. His face totally dead pan. So our 10 min were up. Said hed give me a shot. About 10 people waiting for shots in shot area. After another hour i told nurse i was leaving. She said wait a little linger. So i did. But my pain had increased by at least 10. I couldnt take anymore so i walked out. This office over booked by 100%. Others in waiting room talking an unhappy. His bedside manner horrible an cynical. Pain management has to be hard. But they signed up for it. So if they cant take heat they should get out of kitchen. Also i get a bill for $33 plus. No name of what dr. Not their address. No full listing of what it was for. How am i supposed to know when its months later after sending thru medicare. $400 for a office visit that i went thru a terrible day for nothing. When i called billing to discuss my problem they said it wasnt their dept, contact office. Contacted office explained all this I wrote. They said not their dept contact billing. Just who or what, whos job is what, is the question. We are supposed to pay, pay, pay on time when its bad, bad, bad work. Im reporting to medicare. This is why we are paying so much an why most cant afford. Do not go here. The best dr i had for 14 yrs retired. I cried because i knew this is what would happen. Save your miney an dont let a friend go here either. Will they fix THEIR problem? NO because its about the almighty $$$$

For a month now I have been trying to book an appointment. But every time you call during business hrs ,you get an audio prompt, and no matter what number you press , you get the same message saying the office is closed and to call back during normal biz hrs. They have a number for after hrs exchange but that is answered by numbskulls who don't get your message to the doctor. I tried calling their other location today and got the same message but with an option to text if you needed an appt. So I'm texting trying to get a doctor appt???? And let's just say the person texting me back was not a communication expert !!!! Supposedly their phone system " has been down for over a month " wtaf??? Oh and the online patient portal says I don't exist . Oooookaaay. Never in my life have I heard or experienced a doctors office with no phone system. The very least they could do is have an outgoing message EXPLAINING THE SITUATION to patients, apologizing for the situation and give them a viable option to making an appointment or getting rxs refills.
