Absolute five-star experience. Brittany was awesome. I was visiting from out of town and needed to get a Virginia inspection done on my car. She was able to fit me in without much of a wait. Everybody was very communicative throughout the day. When they called to let me know that I would need to get a new tire to pass the inspection, they provided me with two options, and two prices, which I thought was great. It's not a fancy chain. It's a mom and pop type joint that's been around a long time, and it's showing it's age. What it lacks in polish, it makes up for with hospitality. As a single person in the city with little vehicle knowledge, getting car work done is always something I always dread. So when a maintenance light came on in my car, I was not looking forward to going into a shop. My friend who has worked in auto shops recommended Edward's which is why I visited them today and I'm glad I did. The waiting room doesn't have a lot of fluff & it's a smaller operation but they do a good job. It took a while for my vehicle to get looked at because I didn't have an appointment, but that's on me. When they did look at my sedan, they were honest about what needed to be done & even offered to top off my oil for me. The staff were all kind & friendly as well. Edwards Auto Care is incredible! They consistently keep my old car running, are caring and kind, and do it all for a very great price! They really seem to treat their customers like their family. My car is an old Jaguar with almost 250,000 miles, and I imagine that a lot of repair shops would charge me more just because of the brand. But Edwards consistently gives me a great price. And as a young student in graduate school, that is incredibly helpful! Also, they itemize their bills, so you can see how much you were charged for the part and for labor, which is very helpful with transparency. Edward's Auto Care has to be the most honest, friendliest and all around best garage in RVA! I took my 2000 Wrangler 4.0 in because of coolant leaking and horrible shaking while braking and a very unstable ride. Once they told me what was wrong I thought I was looking at $900 or more based on another garage that performed coolant leak work almost a year to the day ago. They told me I had a bad water pump causing the leaking and then a shot stabilizer on the front causing the shaking. Total price to repair those two things plus an inspection sticker...........$444.17!!! I couldn't believe it. I asked them while they had it to go ahead and look it over for anything they would recommend replacing. You tell another garage that and they would have a field day. Not Edward's!!! I was told everything was in good shape. I've definitely found my garage of choice and will be recommending Edward's Auto Care to all my friends and anyone asking. The problem last year: I had a coolant leak almost a year to the day and had it at another Richmond garage which charged me almost $700 just to replace a drain plug on the engine block for draining coolant, a new serpentine belt and an inspection sticker. I have never posted a bad yelp review before but this was the Worst service I've ever had at an auto shop. Dropped my car off here ONE AND A HALF MONTHS ago and they can't even answer my phone calls. Have called them multiple times a day and nothing. Here I am trying to take what's left of my car and some guy says he'd meet me in the office another guy says they haven't even touched my car yet. I waited for him to "meet me at the office" for 30 minutes before leaving. Left my name and number on the desk for them to call me back--two hours later and still nothing. ‼‼BEWARE: My parents recently took their BMW to this place. I guess this location used to be Twin Star who specialized in BMW and SAAB. Anyway, the car needed a few things done but the guy they spoke with said it wouldn't be a problem. They dropped it on a Wednesday. Never received any calls. They called were told the shop was waiting on a pump. They finally go in on Friday, just see what's up. They see the car sitting there, go in. Long story short, the car sat there for 3 days and nothing got done. Rightfully so, my parents are upset, so the dude rips up the ticket and tells them to leave. My Mom leaves in the car, only to notice they CRACKED her windshield!! She turns around and goes back in and asked about it. They called my mother a liar and asked her to leave. This place is horrible!! Totally disrespectful to my parents!! I will tell everyone I know this story. My parents tried reporting to the BBB but of course they aren't part of the BBB. Edward's is the absolute best. I'm fairly decent at working on cars myself but had a problem I couldn't figure out. Not only did they diagnose it pretty quickly, they also did rigorous checks to make sure they were right before putting me through a costly replacement. They were honest with me and straight forward from the beginning and then, when picking up my vehicle, it turned out they were able to do the repair for half the cost they quoted me! Great experience - if I could give them 6 starts I would! As a young female I am often hesitant to try new auto shops, but looking back that worry was for nothing. I went in for a broken actuator and A/C problem. They were the only shop around who could fit me in the next day, and were very obliging. A few hours later I picked up my car and paid a very reasonable price. When I got home I discovered there was still an issue with my A/C, so I called Darrell (a sweetheart!) and he told me to come right back and they'd have a look at it. While I was in the office waiting for it to get fixed, they called for a part, it was delivered, and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. AND they didn't charge me for the second visit. Very friendly atmosphere, affordable, and efficient. If I lived in Richmond I wouldn't go anywhere else! Great job guys! read more

I took my car in to get the catalytic converter check. They have my car for 4 weeks and after 10 phone calls no status or update. I had to end up picking up the vehicle just as it was still in disrepair. I can't say why there was no update I can't say they were rude but I can say they did not show any concern or consideration for the service or lack thereof. read more

If you're a woman or otherwise read as AFAB, they'll lie to you and try to scam you into paying much more than you should. I went in for a routine oil change and they charged me $70 because my car could "only take nice synthetic oil" when it was able take the cheapest oil, and should've only cost $10-20. When the tow truck driver arrived (after less than 1 hr) he was extremely friendly, professional, and skilled at getting my parallel parked car out of a difficult spot. My sister and I were in town for an event and had a leaking radiator hose. We patched it long enough to get to a parts place to buy supplies, hoping it was an easy patch to get us home. No such luck. The guys at the Advance Auto Parts up the street from this garage made a few calls for us and arranged for Abe and Duane to fit us in before closing up for the night. We arrived with a newly purchased replacement hose and in about 20 minutes they were able to get the hose swapped out and the car's running great. After having this shop repair my cars over 15 plus years, they screwed me. It took 2 weeks to diagnose a cracked head. After receiving the car back after almost 3 wks, the check engine light came on 2 days (4 error codes)later and the car would not rev over 3000 rpms. All this after I paid almost $1500 for a repair.
