I shot the agent 4 or 5 emails with different levels of coverage and he was more than happy to run the numbers for me. But this is not to say that you should go into buying car insurance blindly without having done your own research. If you want a great deal and make this process less painful, do your research, understand the terms and what coverage you get, and ask the agent questions! I was not asking for private information -- I simply wanted them to contact their insured themselves and provide our phone number so the insured could reach out to us directly to coordinate the appointment. Instead, representatives repeatedly hung up on us before we could finish speaking. On the final call, after politely asking, "Please let me finish," a male representative told me that I "smell really bad," and repeated the comment twice before ending the call. As someone with a foreign accent, I found this behavior extremely disrespectful and disturbing. I believe State Farm should not stand behind this kind of behavior or employ representatives who make comments that come across as discriminatory and racist. No one should be treated this way while trying to communicate professionally. I hope management takes this matter seriously.
