I have been privileged to have Dr Jarvis as my Dr since I was 18 while living in the area . I am now 71 living out of State however whenever I have had any major illness and no other Dr has been able to help me I will travel to see him. He is not just a Chiropractor ( altho an EXCELLENT one) he is truly a healer. I only saw Dr. Ed Jarvis two times. I had been crippled for six months after twisting my knee doing construction in Alaska. Orthopedists wanted to remove my meniscus. I said no. I could not straighten my leg and the pain was. . . intense. I was either on crutches or limping with a cane. I have never felt any comparable pain since, thank goodness. The first visit he said put castor oil on it at night, and peanut oil on it during the day, or vice versa, it was a long time ago. I was 28, now I am over 75. Not only did the next visit allow me, after his adjustment, to straighten my leg, I have since run 10ks, and hiked for a 150 miles in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I am fine. I am healed. I was crippled for six months, and have been fine ever since. This man made me believe in healers. They are rare, and this man gave me back my life, as an able bodied carpenter, and still healthy and pharmaceutical free who has now lived longer than the average American male. I found Dr. Edward Jarvis in 1972. I had health issues that real Doctors had not been able to help me with. Dr Jarvis put me on a strict health regiment and guided me back to health. Dr. Jarvis is the first and only chiropractor I have been to, so I can't speak for him versus other chiropractors. What I can say is that every time I have been to him with a problem, he has been able to solve it, with gentle adjustments... gentle enough that sometimes I have wondered if he was even really doing anything, until I stood up from the table and was able to turn my neck again or walk without pain, etc. He seems to like to ask patients about their lives. This might be part of the chiropractic practice/belief system... holistic care involving every part of the patient... maybe? If so, I am okay with it, but if I had my druthers I would do without it. I don't know him except as a doctor so I don't feel overly open to talking with him about my personal life. But if it helps him care for me, I can work with it. I recommend him. read more

Beware of this quack, He injured me so badly I have been suffering for years and he refused to take responsibility. He did not inform me of what he was going to do to me and did not give me any instructions of what to do afterward. It was the first time and last time I had ever seen a chiropractor. He held himself out as a doctor, but doctors are vowed to 'do no harm'. He hurt me deliberately and severely and didn't care. He did not apologize for ruining my health. Stay away. Dr Jarvis is the best chiropractor you can find. I now live in San Francisco and have not been able to find anybody that can really help, so I've been taking the 2 hour drive to see him and it is totally worth it. He can fix things with one visit, whereas other chiropractors have not been able to achieve his results with months worth of weekly appointments. He really has a gift for what he does. When I tell people my chiropractor improves my quality of life I get horror stories and skepticism. Today I brought my girlfriend and best friend with me and they have seen the light. I've been seeing Dr Jarvis on and off for more than 15 years. He treated my mother and my grandmother. He has so far cured vertigo from my mom hitting her head on the basement ceiling, her acid reflux disease from some kind of esophagus hernia. I've seen him for sore hips that end up being caused by my neck being misaligned. He has stopped my shoulder from painfully sliding out of the socket. Your spine is probably the second most important thing in your body after the brain. This guy puts every vertebrae back in the right place and even does the limbs and other joints too. I have been seeing Ed Jarvis since 1969. Whatever your problem, go see him. He is unlike anyone else you have ever been to. Here is one instance: Thirty years ago my heart would just STOP for several (2-3-4) beats every 15-20 regular beats. I mean zip, nothing, nada. When it would start up again it was a big boom and a large rush of blood under pressure surging out of my heart, causing my chest to heave and the pressure in my head was really unnerving. I was scared. I was afraid my heart would stop and not start up again. I had no insurance and had I gone to an MD, it would have been many expensive tests, surgery, hospitals, specialists, apparatus, etc. Thousands of dollars that I did not have and would not have. I called the office and spoke with him about what was going on. He knew what was wrong from my description. Having relocated from Big Sur to Yosemite, it was a 31/2 hr. drive to Pacific Grove. Saw him the next day. He adjusted my neck (without wrenching it around at all) and the issue was gone. Completely stopped happening. I discovered the problem was new furniture that caused me to sit at an odd angle and crinked my neck. I got rid of the set immediately and never had that problem again. How awesome is that? I would never have thought my "heart problem" was a chiropractic issue, however, it was. Anything and everything that I could not resolve by myself, Ed Jarvis has corrected. He is a gifted healer and a wonderful person. His methods are unlike anything I have ever experienced. He understands the human body on a profound level. I have been seeing Dr. Jarvis for over 40 years. When the doctors wanted to do a third back surgery on me, I relented and asked my friend "Who was that chiropractor that you recommended 2 years ago?". We were driving anywhere from 1-2 hrs to see him over the years and now that we are "retired", we have a 7 hr. drive to see him. And YES, it is worth it. Since we have moved far away, we have actually tried another chiropractor, who actually talked with Dr. Jarvis over the phone, but unfortunately, that younger chiropractor finally admitted that they do not teach us new and upcoming chiropractors like they taught in "old school". Dr. Jarvis also incorporates Polarity into his adjustments and YES, what is going on your life is important and it is all private so no worries, spill your guts out! I have met many people in Doc's reception room over the years and actually met a family who drove from Arizona every other month as they were amazed at the results they were getting for their 2 years old, who was diagnosed as retarded. Dr. Jarvis is also a homeopathic Doctor so over the past 40+ years, his guidance regarding our illnesses has kept us, our children and our grandchildren in good health. God Bless him! PS...What I saw when visiting the young chiropractor's office was that his overhead was high and as a patient, we were helping him pay for all of that new, fancy, equipment!
