This feeling of uneasiness quickly subsided. Upon our very first visit, the PFM team jumped into action and together we put a comfortable transition plan into place. The teachers in his classroom (as well as the Director and Assistant Director) were very warm and showed a genuine interest in our sons onboarding, providing personal updates throughout his day as well as advice on naps and feeding. Relationships quickly bloomed. The online portal that is updated by his teachers throughout the day documented sleeping, eating and diaper patterns, giving us full visibility to what his days looked like. All of this provided me with peace of mind, which is what you need as a new parent during this transition. Fast forward four months: we have an extremely happy child who lights up every day at drop off for school and is in no rush to leave at pick up time! Children cannot fake their excitement, so you know that this is genuine. The child-led philosophy of Montessori allows our son freedom in the classroom to "choose his own adventure" every day, while still providing him with a structured curriculum that has enabled him to surpass his milestones. Being a very active child, our son is thriving in this environment and we have seen tremendous growth in him, both socially and developmentally. It is evident that the team here truly cares about the children and love what they do. The yard is fenced and very well maintained with space and interactive play equipment perfect for a pre-school. The interior had a very comfortable play and study area. The whole property gave "grandma's got style vibes". Crystal also had a perfect vehicle to taking the kids anywhere they need to go. Crystal is open and pragmatic and she cares about her community. My son ended up at a different facility due to a connection to my husbands work. But truth be told I knew out of all the people we interviews for care Crystal was providing the most love and intimate care. She's a lovely woman and if you can get your kids into her daycare you are very lucky! Not surprised she has nothing but positive reviews here!

Crystal, the main caretaker, is a very experienced, loving, and dependable educator. I love that she is always there, giving my son the consistent experience, kids at that age crave. Especially since I'm hearing about the constant staffing changes in bigger childcare centers and that impact on the kids. His days at the Teaching Home are filled with play (there are many building toys, he especially enjoys), doing arts & crafts (he brings something home almost daily), and eating healthy meals (all meals and snacks are provided). Kids are even involved in preparing some foods (for example kneading dough for home made bread). There is a nice outdoor space for them to play, dig in the dirt, and run around. Wednesdays during the school year, the kids get to attend a preschool coop, where they dive into a new topic each week (eg. friendship, the letter, F, how to be a good friend, read a book about friendship, draw your best friend). My now 5-year old is graduating to kindergarten but his little sister has been here since she turned 2.5. Teachers Kerry and Andrew run a compassionate preschool with lots of exploration play, unstructured time outside, weekly themes, art, healthy food, and so much emotional intelligence education. The school is small (one mixed-age class), which means the big kids learn to care for the little kids. My kids are delightful, polite, and caring humans and I credit this school with almost all of that influence. If you're reading the reviews (which are old), know they are no longer drop-in, and masks are only worn after a community exposure event, though they were previously worn 100% of the time for almost 2 years of covid.

At the time, our son was acting out and very jealous of his new sister. His enrollment at OTS has really helped his transition from only child to big brother. While it's always difficult sending a child to school for the first time, I couldn't imagine a more nurturing environment for him. Teacher Kerry and Teacher Andrew are absolutely wonderful with the kids. I love their focus on emotional intelligence because it was what my son needed at the time--and truly what any child this age needs. I also noticed that his manners have improved tremendously since he started attending their school. Although we had been working consistently with him on manners, he would often need reminders. After a few months at OTS, everything finally clicked, and he even asks to be excused from the dinner table. Aside from good manners, his imagination has really taken off and he engages more in pretend play. Prior to his time at OTS, he was very needy and always asked one of us to play with him. Now he exhibits more independence and takes the lead in pretend play. I believe the small, intimate, home environment of OTS has really enabled him to thrive. It's like his home away from home, and I know he thinks of Teacher Andrew, Teacher Kerry and the other kids like family. I moved to this country as an adult and my entire family lives abroad. She and her family are like having local family my boys have never had. I really appreciate the level of care they are receiving here and the fact they have zero screen time as well. The other parents and children have been lovely and my boys have become good friends with the other little children here. They are always so happy when I pick them up. There have been a handful of times I got stuck in traffic on the way home from work because of issues with the West Seattle bridge or car accidents, and she was just as cheerful and kind when I was late as when I arrive to pick them up on time. She refused to let me pay for the minutes I was late. I visited a lot of daycares before choosing this one and I have not regretted my choice for a second. Zion is truly a gem of the highest order.

How do I explain my love for Blossoms and Becky? Let's start at the beginning!! We heard about…read moreBlossoms through friends of ours who had their son and daughter there and so we enrolled our kids as well. We've been there for two years on and off. The "off" part because we moved and it became really far for us to come here. Blossoms, in my opinion, is everything you want in a childcare center for young children. I worry that children these days are being pushed to grow up too quickly, and academics are pushed too heavily on children. When looking for childcare for my children, I don't want someone teaching them how to do calculus when they're three years old I would much rather have someone focus on giving my son the love that I'm not able to when I'm working. I want him to have socialization and I want him to be able to do fun activities with other children. And Blossoms is all of that. These factors are far more important than academics! In addition, it's a family environment; the chef and some of the daycare workers are related and it shows me how valued a family environment is. Our son, more than a year ago, was in Colton's class and now Colton is headteacher and I don't have enough words to say how amazing that is. Colton is a kind, loving individual and deserves accolades for being such a good human being. Mariya, one of the other teachers, is also just a beautiful human being. My 3yo asked to be in her class even though she watched the younger kids mostly; he just gravitates to her kind nature. Becky, the director, isn't just invested in your child's schooling; she's invested in the big picture which is psychosocial and emotional growth. This is how Yelp works apparently. Use caution and investigate reviews, the good and the bad. It pains me to write a negative review because the first year our daughter was at Blossoms was great. But these last few months we've had a terrible experience and have recently heard some alarming stuff from other parents. I received a text from the owner Becky, informing us that our daughter is no longer welcome at her daycare because of a "threatening" message I sent to Joslyn and her staff. I have attached the message for all to see. What prompted such a message to her teachers and the owner? First, we received less than 24 hours' notice that our daughter's class was moving to a different building. We were told the space would be bigger and the kids would be happier. Awesome, we can roll with this. But two weeks later we discovered from Facebook photos that our daughter was moved to a different classroom without our knowledge. Prior to us realizing she had been moved, she would come home upset and we had no idea why. She said, "school was scary, there were too many new teachers and kids." We then messaged her school asking for clarity. They flippantly told us she had indeed been moved 2 months ago (which was also untrue) but she is still with the same teachers and students. After further investigation, we realized this was far from the truth. We had been telling our daughter for weeks, it's fine, you're just in a new building. They lied to us again and again. Her teacher refused to meet with us because we were "bullying" her. We are upset parents and asked very directly what was going on. We never received a clear explanation as to why she was moved. Becky the owner again and again said it was because of licensing. Here teacher Joslyn reassured us everything was fine after 2 inquiries about our daughters well-being after the move. It was only after I saw FB posts of our child in a diff class that she revealed that yes, our child was indeed moved to a diff class...2 months ago. Which was also false. After reaching out to other parents, we learned other disturbing facts. Communication completely stopped for weeks not only with us but other parents. We've been called bullies for demanding the truth. Becky repeatedly told us that she is not about academics and that her school is really in the business for drug prevention, whatever that means. Becky and Joslyn are all smiles but when it comes down to the true nature of their business, that's all it is. Profit and business. It's sad that we were treated like this. We know how hard the teachers work. Becky's unprofessional and unethical approach to her business harms not only the kids and families but also her staff.
