My two children attend KidsCentre Spring Street and both have attended since they were in the infant room at 6-7 months old. We have had a wonderful experience with both children thanks to the caring and skilled teachers and staff. Other things we love about KC: 1) All classes spend a fair amount of time outside every day (unless there's extreme weather) - and our kids love to play on the playground overlooking Elliot Bay and go for walks (on the rope) with their class to watch the ferries, the fire trucks, and all of the waterfront action 2) The toddlers and pre-k go on a field trip every week! Locations include the aquarium, Pike Place Market, the fire station, the library, Volunteer Park, and the water taxi to West Seattle. This is always our older child's favorite day and it's amazing how much it has fostered a sense of independence and curiosity about our community. 3) KidsCentre provides pretty much everything - diapers, wipes, and all meals. Both of our kids have food allergies and KC is accommodating and provides alternative options when needed (which we found was not the case at most other child care centers we toured) 4) The teachers foster a sense of routine so that the children know roughly how the day will flow every day, which has created confidence and a sense of calm with our kids. But most importantly, our kids feel safe, loved, and intellectually stimulated at KidsCentre and we would highly recommend! read more

We absolutely love KidsCentre! Our daughter has been at KidsCentre since she was 6 months old, and she is now in Preschool. The teachers are wonderful. We know our daughter is loved and well cared for when she is at school. She goes to school readily and comes home happy, talking about what she learned and who she played with. The location is fantastic. The outdoor play area overlooks the water, and the children can see the ferries coming in. KidsCentre takes advantage of its location by taking children on waterfront walks, and when they get older to Pike Place Market, the Aquarium, the Water Taxi and more. We have had one child in Kidscentre since 2015 and our second since early 2019. Both children have been through the infant and Penguin rooms and our oldest has been through all the rooms and is enrolled in private Kindergarten for the fall so that we can continue working uninterrupted. We LOVE KC. They were always my first choice and my favorite tour. What stood out to me was that the center felt like a place where play and creativity were at the forefront. That impression has played out as accurate. In every room each of my daughters has developed special relationships with one of their teachers. We have adored all of their teachers. We love the field trips and are hoping that our youngest will be able to take advantage of that post-COVID. read more

We have been at KidsCentre for the last 4 years and have loved every minute. The diverse staff have made us feel like family, loving my child as if she was their own. They provide education through play and have partnered with us on the best plans to work on skills with our kiddo. Through the pandemic they did everything they could to keep the kids and staff safe and healthy while managing to keep from closing. I highly recommend KidsCentre for any stage of your child's life. Our daughter is two and has been attending Kidscentre since she was 4 months old. We have loved all of her teachers and I feel like she is safe and cared for while we are at work. The curriculum is amazing, she has learned so much that I would have never thought to teach. She especially loves her Spanish lessons and soccer class. I love the HiMama app and I check it regularly during the day to get updates, pictures and videos. Also, we are a lesbian couple and I have always felt safe and welcome among the staff. Good daycare with undoubtedly a premium location. My son was there for a year and I thought it was great at the time but now that we've been going to a different preschool in another city, I now see that KidCentre was just mediocre at best. What it really has going for it is the location. When I was there, I could NEVER understand how they hire mothers (with little babies at home) as caregivers but those moms must take their kids to other daycares that are more affordable. Either pay your caregivers a living wage OR give the moms the means to bring their own children to KidCentre. I hated that I was supporting a business who, at the end of the day, truly did not look out for its own. Luckily I was only there for about a year so I don't have to see the greedy, selfish faces of the owners/managers anymore. It's about time you support your working moms, KidCentre. My daughters attended Spring Street and I was so confident dropping them off, that they were well taken care of. My youngest was only a mere 2 months when she started there and I was so nervous, after touring and her first day - those feelings of nervousness and anxiety quickly left. We have had our seven month old daughter at KidsCentre Spring Street since she was four months old and we love it. This is the type of place where you're welcomed with a smile and "hello" every time you walk in. Our experience with the infant room teachers has been amazing. Our daughter absolutely adores them and is so happy each morning when we drop her off. She gets to go on neighborhood walks, take field trips to places like the aquarium, have Spanish lessons with Miss Joanna, and music time with Mr. Matt. She absolutely thrives in this environment. We have felt confident that she is getting the best care and education possible. It cannot be understated the gratitude we feel as first time parents to have staff that have guided us and our daughter through the transition into daycare, as well as through her milestones like rolling over, sitting up, starting solids, and teething. They offer reassurance along with insight into our daughter's development and tangible tips on how to support her as she grows and learns. We also love their HiMama app where we can communicate with her teachers, get photo/video updates during the day, and check in on her schedule (did she sleep? how many bottles has she taken?) throughout the day. We can also share photos/videos with our family members through the app, who absolutely love it. Parking and drop-off aren't ideal, as the alleyway behind KidsCentre is often full of delivery vans (the centre shares a building with the Alexis Hotel and other businesses) but it's manageable. Payment is easy and can be done online (though there is an extra charge to use a credit card, which isn't unusual.) Like any daycare, they have early closure dates and in-service days but these are easy enough to work around with prior planning. Full disclosure, we get a small, one-time tuition discount for posting a Yelp review but we truly, truly love KidsCentre and are so grateful to have our daughter in their care. read more

Their donation of plexiglass that was used during the covid lockdown is now helping Seattle urban farmers with food security by being a critical component of mini-greenhouses and cold frames. Our son has been at KidsCentre since he was almost 5 months old, and I cannot say enough about how fantastic the staff and the programming is at KidsCentre. They are true professionals in their field, focusing on early childhood development and education in very fun and age-appropriate ways. Our son is now 19 months and he truly enjoys his time with his friends and teachers every day. They provide such an impressive variety of ways to teach these little ones, and the teachers always have big smiles, great attitudes, an obvious passion for what they do, and every child here benefits tremendously from that. All childcare in downtown Seattle is expensive, but the value provided at KidsCentre, in all the ways, is worth every single penny. They are top notch. If you're on the fence about where to send your child, here are some highlights that make KidsCentre stand out in a positive way (other than the teachers, who are AWESOME): ~ 'HiMama' app/website enables the teachers to send you photos/videos and updates of your child's activities (often multiple each day), and a full daily report of diapers, meals, naps, etc. (And you can sign up grandparents and other family members to get the same updates!) ~They get the kids outside 2x per day to the maximum extent possible, either on walks or at the playground. ~As your child gets older, they do this amazing transition process moving them into the next classroom, by gradually letting your child spend a little more time in that room over the course of a couple/few weeks, so they get familiar with the kids and teachers and it's not just an abrupt change for them. ~Unlike many centers, they provide meals (which have helped teach our son to eat a great variety of healthy foods), and diapers, which not only is helpful to parents by not having to worry about bringing those things every day, but also adds value to what they provide. Truly wonderful daycare. The staff is committed and caring. My son went here starting in fall of 2019 after spending his first year with a nanny. As his first birthday approached, we became more and more concerned he wasn't getting enough stimulation. After securing a spot at kid centre, we could not have been more pleased with their age appropriate educational program. The moment my wife and I found out that we were expecting our first thought was on childcare. Before hysteria could set in we had scheduled four tours of childcare facilities all in the Downtown Seattle area. Our checklist of needs was not overly lengthy, but we wanted to assure that we were entrusting the right people to watch over our soon-to-be born daughter. Enter Kids Centre. The vibe immediately felt different upon entering Kids Centre than that of other options downtown. The lighting didn't feel overly florescent. The management seemed to actually be invested into the care of the children, and most of all the teachers had a nurturing touch that seemed to be lacking elsewhere. As we embark towards Kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year, we will look back on the past five-plus years our daughter has attended Kids Centre with great fondness. From the beginning we get multiple updates (with little blurbs and pictures) throughout the day make it easy to focus on my job. He is always excited to go to school and play with his friends. When we pick him up we get a quick summary from the teacher on things he learned or explored today. We love Kids Centre. My son attended from age 1 through 5 and now my daughter is there. The teachers are warm and caring and put a lot of thought into planning the day. Field trips are a focal point for the center, so kids typically go out twice a day. We get updates with pictures throughout the day, as well as a detailed report about eating, napping, etc. The downtown location allows exposure to the art museum every month as well as the Market and aquarium. They are committed to keeping the staff well trained and also bring in a music teacher and soccer coach every week. They provide healthy food. Our children have thrived there. read more

I have two children who attend KidsCentre, one is 3 and the other is 7 months. When my son was born my husband and I enrolled him at KidsCentre because it was close to where we lived then he started at 3 months old. Since starting at KidsCentre we have moved to another neighborhood about 15 min. from the downtown core. We considered changing schools, however decided to keep our son where he was because he loved his friends (he has been with a handful of them since the infant room), his teachers, and it worked out for us logistically. We now have a new baby at KidCentre and a few of the same teachers who were with my son are with her. There have been a lot of changes over the past several months with most of them being improvements (a few of our favorite teachers have left for various reasons). My son just started pre-school (this came too quickly) and he is learning all kinds of new things and loves to tell me about them each day. I love the daily notes and photos they provide to keep me connected to them while I'm not with them. I also know they are both safe, well cared for, and learning new skills every day. read more

When my husband passed away unexpectedly, I had to get daycare asap. KidsCentre was more than willing to help me out. Located across the alley from my job, I'd seen first hand how great the staff was with kids on their daily outings and knew that was where I wanted to send my three year old. They worked with my schedule to help me get her oriented as fast as possible and get settled into a new routine. A month and a half later, my daughter loves going to school. She's always happy to go and happy when I pick her up. She's always learning something new, and thanks to the daily progress reports I always know exactly what to ask her to engage her in what she learned that day. Her favorite part is the rooftop playground! I have every confidence in KidsCentre and highly recommend them to anyone considering daycare in the downtown Seattle area. read more

My daughter started at KidsCentre when she was almost three years old. It was a huge transition for our family as I went back to work after being at home with her since birth. The KidsCentre staff and teachers were and always have been wonderful!!! Everyone there is welcoming, helpful and we truly feel part of a community. The addition of the HiMama app within the last year was so great. We receive photos during the day of what our daughter is doing with the class. At the end of the day we get a final report that tells us what she ate, when she napped, etc. I was able to add her grandparents as users so they can see her daily updates as well. The other thing that makes KidsCentre stand out are the field trips. Our daughter goes with her class to explore our exciting city. On a regular basis, they go to the library, the science center, aquarium, and more. They also get to go on ferries and take public transportation. This urban adventure aspect is something that I didn't find in the other care facilities I looked at. We are going to miss KidsCentre when she goes to Kindergarten in the fall. A+++!!! read more

I can't recommend KidsCentre enough! Our son has been at KidsCentre since he was 18 months old and he is now about to start Kindergarten and thriving! We have seen the center go through so many positive changes since 2016. They provide the best childcare downtown and are always growing and evolving with the times. The HiMama app is wonderful and we love getting daily updates from the teachers about our son's day, the curriculum, menu, daily activities, etc. The staff at both locations is amazing as well. All staff members make a genuine effort to get to know parents and children regardless of whether or not they are in their class. KidsCentre's response to Covid-19 has been top notch. They have taken so many safety precautions and measures to keep the centers safe, clean and running smoothly. We are so grateful to have a safe and nurturing environment for our son to learn and grow in during the pandemic. They really are like a second family to us! read more

KidsCentre has been an extension of our family. Our little girl will be transitioning to kindergarten in a short week, and saying goodbye to the teachers and administration will difficult. The staff has provided a warm, genuine, and nurturing environment and I have no doubt our daughter will remember her time there with great affection. I never expected a childcare facility to provide such considerate attention to each individual child, but KidsCentre does it with ease. The curriculum they provide seems tailored to our girl's ability level, always providing a challenge but in a way that she doesn't realize the depth of her learning. Her class takes daily excursions into the city, sometimes walking and sometimes taking the city bus, light rail, even ferries to fun and exciting locations. They explore beaches and parks, attend music productions and plays. The school takes full advantage of the local culture and sites. Pike's Place is an incredible place to learn about new foods, and the downtown library story times are epic. The school administration provides an in-depth news letter each month with health and safety tips along with upcoming activities in our city. I never expected to be so pleased with a child care facility, but KidsCentre has exceeded every expectation. Neither my husband or I work downtown, but we're expecting a little girl in November, and if there is any way we can coordinate our schedules to allow for her to attend a childcare program, KidsCentre will be our first choice. read more

We LOVE KidsCentre! Our little guy started attending at six months, and we immediately loved the daily pictures and updates, and it was clear he was being so well loved and taken care of. He's learned new skills, makes adorable art projects and we feel like the teachers are an extended part of our family. Now he's moved in to the 1 year old room and is so busy and happy with fun activities all day. I know he's safe, well taken care of, and is being taught new things all the time. KidCentre has been an amazing place for our child. We've been attending for over a year and we are extremely happy. They have attentive teachers, warm and present staff, the Director knows you by name and the children go out on fun field trips and see the sun twice a day on playground time most of the year. The facility is clean, has lots of windows and they even have coffee and treats out for parents to enjoy. They recently got on social media so it's a hidden gem from all your daycare research and if they have an opening, it's because a second location just opened up a few months ago a block away. While touring daycares, Kid Centre stood out to us for 2 reasons: 1. We liked the balance of play and learning. 2. The children take regular excursions around downtown. Even the babies. How fun is that? Our infant son has been at Kid Centre for 7 months, and we could not be happier with our choice. His teachers are amazing; they truly make me feel like we are all on the same team. They are accommodating and work with us. My son is all smiles around his teachers when we arrive and leave. We don't work downtown, and we don't live downtown. I can't say enough great things about Kids Centre. My first born went to Kids Centre from 3 mo. to 4.5 yrs and my second child is currently enrolled. It's a fabulous facility. My second is still only a toddler but my eldest gained such wonderful social awareness and skillset. We've had our two boys (ages 4 1/2 and 2 1/2) at Kidscentre for about 8 months and are very happy with the school. The teachers are smart, caring, dedicated and fun. The administration is responsive. One thing we love most about Kidscentre is that they take the kids out on so many different kinds of excursions. Our kids regularly go to the Seattle Art Museum, SoundBridge, storytime at the library, Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market and KidsGym at the West Seattle Y. They do so many art projects that we don't have enough room at home to store all the artwork they bring home! The teachers also pay special attention to making sure the kids develop proper social skills and learn how to make friends and interact well with other kids. The only negative thing I would say is that there's been quite a bit of turnover of teachers in our younger son's classroom. But we've liked all of the teachers and there's been enough constancy so that introducing a new teacher to the classroom (since there are three) hasn't caused too much upheaval. read more
