Helping a relative pay her ECU credit card online (instead of mailing paper) became a time-waster. There's a $1500 daily limit on transactions INCLUDING paying off a credit card. Any amount over that, the customer has to come back a different day. First chat/call, rep insisted the $1500 limit was from the paying account & not from ECU. So had to call that institution & they told us no, it was on ECU end. Called ECU back & finally got them to admit the $1500 limit was on their end. Asked them to change it... no, they wouldn't change it. 'Why can't you just do it across multiple days?' Another issue. I have POA on the ECU accounts but they could not provide me with a separate login for the account. So I don't have access when they prompt me for 2FA. I had an account with them in the past but moved it when they messed up. Had to file with the IRS (recharacterize tax year) to get the problem corrected. Go elsewhere. read more

I have been a customer for MANY, MANY years having checking, savings and mortgage @ECU. I recently opened a biz account and I wish I hadn't. To give my customer good customer service (pay attention ECU) I offered them the option to pay via check. ECU held my initial check deposit for over 17 days before I had access. Now a month later, they need to hold the second check for 5 biz days. I'm sure the check cleared asap! Small biz needs cash flow! I have to take from my personal account to pay bills. When I opened my account, I wish they would have been more honest and let me know I would not have access to my funds for almost a month, and after that... they would be holding checks that I deposit. I am sure, in this age of technology that the check I deposited cleared immediately. Why then hold my funds. This is unacceptable read more

Educator's Credit Union participates in account draining. Lack of accountability and customer support. ECU seemingly embezzles money by ghosting your transactions through digital banking e.g. when funds are held to ensure you have money in the account during a transaction process. Digital register will never match your purchase receipts and paper ledger. read more

I have been a member with educators since the early 2000's. I have been impressed with my experience with them. They are always responsive and truly make me feel comfortable. There are other credit unions who are conducting business, using experienced people at the top of their game. This place unfortunately does not. You can call and leave messages and nobody responds, except with finally saying they are just too busy. Give your hard earned money to an institution who is more qualified to accept your hard earned money. read more

10 years ago I would call Educators C. U. and the President himself would answer his own phone (usually in 2 rings) Call today and you are hanging a slow ride on the Educators Phone robot merry-go-round. Call anytime of the day and you hear "we are experiencing larger than normal call volume - please hold". Why not stop lying to us and try some old fashioned customer service and put a few more employees on the phones? And why must I pay you $10.00 for the privilege of making a car payment on the telephone? When I got my loan you went out of your way to offer convenient phone payments - but never mentioned a $10.00 fee for a valued customer. read more

This is not my branch, but being a big fan of both YELP and Educators Credit Union, I felt I had to visit all the branches to see. Well this one also is very pleasant, sunny, friendly with great staff. And, free coffee. You know those evil big banks that tanked the world economy in 2008? These little credit unions had NOTHING to do with that. That alone is enough to get my business, but having been victimized most of my life by big evil banks it was refreshing to find the reasonable fees and policies practiced by Educators Credit Union. Having a car loan and try to apply for home equity loan, it's a complete fight. I try to use the online service but there is always an error when you try to get it done yourself, so I call and talk to a loan agent and after checking all income and credit, she promises to call back after having all paperwork approved. Well, all I get is a letter in the mail saying that unfortunately they cannot approve my request at this moment. What ever happened with the expected phone call? This woman named Vivian never called back or even sent me a direct email to let me know of the application status. So incompetent. Never have I made a late payment or have I been in negative balance. This place is not the same after their last manager passed. So sad. Will look for more options elsewhere. read more

I have been a member for 25+ years. I have always praised Educators for their customer service. The experience has been second to none...until the past couple of years. There has been a slow, steady erosion of the overall customer experience. They are no longer standouts in any way. You're just a number, and they're a credit union in name only. I was a client for several years and would have scored ECU 5 stars up until 3 years ago. Since that time I've been asked to change my account password at least 20 times for online banking and still routinely can not get into my own account. I've received one excuse after another but the problems are not corrected. read more

Long time member but can't say anything good about Educators Credit Union anymore. Fees are high, products are not competitive and you can't talk to tellers in person anymore. Tellers talk to you from remote locations on video screens. Credit unions are supposed to be better than banks in most ways and over the last few years they've managed to become worse than the big banks. read more

Just bought a second used car within the last year and a half. Both from large new car dealerships. Both tried to get us to finance through the dealership. Each time ECU was far and away the best rate. Friendly staff and close to home. read more

Literally the worst. Doing anything with this company is a hassle and a half; you can't even pay your loan payments online unless you want to transfer money to one of their savings or checking accounts first. If you want to refinance to a different company you're shit out of luck because they refuse to print full account numbers on ANY of their official documentation for security purposes. Completely paranoid, and backwards to boot. read more
