Credit unions are so much better than the big evil banking corporations, you know the ones that tanked our economy in 2008. Educators is a great credit union with an excellent website and associated computer program (people who are younger than I am call these "apps."). Don't know about the negative reviews here, but they seem old. Currently, the workers here are great, this is a very good location, the support services are excellent. While I don't have an account at Educator's Credit Union, my son and my sister do. Because of this, I have had the opportunity to visit several times with them. The aesthetics are beautiful inside and out. Set near a pond and the use of beautiful brick, the exterior is warm and welcoming. Inside is spacious with a hint of Frank Lloyd Wright. Multiple seating areas and a small dining table and latte machine really make things comfortable. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. There is a coin machine that I wasn't sure how to use. The information lady kindly came over to assist. The tellers at the counter are equally knowledgeable and attentive. Parking is plentiful, which makes it very convenient. read more

Used to have a home town feel, now it's corporate with high turnover, usually young kids who don't know you've been banking there for years. Forgot my i. d. on one occasion and because the new tellers didn't know me, I couldn't complete a transaction despite giving them all kinds of other verification like the password on my account, my debit and credit cards with them, etc. Ridiculous. To top it off they are too cheap to keep their coffee machine. Looking for a new credit union. read more

Checking and savings has been unremarkable. However, the website is a wreck. I have not had access to the bill payer feature for over a year. Despite multiple sessions with tech support (the same person every time - do they only have one?), the problem remains. So I've stopped using them except for just occasionally. read more

Educators Credit Union rocks! They rock, because they offer some amazing services. Most anyone has some kind of debt these days, so they offer plenty of alternatives to help you get rid of that debt. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and will take the time to sit down with you and look over your finances. They offer super-low rates on credit cards, car loans, home loans, and virtually any other type of loan that you are looking for. The biggest thing is this; Educators is a non-profit, so that means they aren't looking to nickle-and-dime their customers for money. Each year they divide their profits among their members based off of the services they use. For instance, if you have a credit card, car loan, mobile banking (free mobile app), e-documents (statements sent to you online), and direct-deposit; that would have qualified you for fifty dollars last year, just for using the services. This is the worse service I have ever experienced. I will be closing all accounts. We were told approved for a loan and went in to sign papers. The loan officer had a bad attitude before we even went into her office- condescending a real jerk - we almost walked out before started- poor customer service and poor relations. Midway through we walked out- would have continued had she been decent but good Lord- we financed with another credit union as this was unlike any service we had experienced. I hate to give one star- educators find personable people that are experienced in customer service- both your loan officers are horrible- one at online and the one locally needs to find a new job she is burnt out! read more

I recently withdrew some money from my 401k from the federal government to finance some renovations on my home. After depositing the check I was told there would be a 5 day hold placed on the money due to the amount. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told that he would probably tell me that I could not access my money as well. After insisting to speak to the manager I was told to wait. After 5 minutes the bank employee called me to the kiosk and said the manager released a portion of the funds but said "this can never happen again"! If the credit union cannot trust a check from the US Treasury then its time to shut down! I did not take kindly to being made to feel like a criminal for wanting access to the money I've saved for the last 16 years! I understand Educators probably has dealt with some unscrupulous people but I'm not one of them. Time to put my federal deposits and checks somewhere else! read more

Went to use the flach cash monile deposit for the first time, went to the bank a day later and they told me its gonna be a week until i get my money because the amount was to high, without any warning on the fucken website or any thing. They will not approve it and now my power is gonna be off for another week. Thanks educators. read more

Worst banking experience of my life. Intentionally not posting some pending transactions from noon Friday then BAM! Monday morning comes and its transfer fees and overdraft fees up the wazzo. THEN the audacity to train your customer service folks to blame the merchant... Every damn Monday... Its a crap shoot banking here. No thanks. Not to mention you dont show hard live checks as pending those are just pushed through but you'll hold a $3 debit card transaction hostage for a week, then post it well before the pending until date just so you can collect ur little $5 transfer fee. Yes indeed I have been educated about what a craptastic financial institution you are. Its all processed intentionally so these bozos make money off of you. First off, I am a student and was told that I was able to get a savings account there. I went to go sign the paperwork for the account at the branch and they said that the person who set it up was wrong, and that I could not get a savings account for whatever reason, which wasted my time in the first place. On top of it we had to wait for the lady to get back from lunch so that wasted 20 minutes of my time just waiting for a banker. Second of all, my grandmother wrote out a check for one of my kids. She has an account there. I figured like any other bank I could just go and cash it there since the credit union was right down the street versus going to my bank which was further away. They wouldn't let me cash it because it was my 3 year old's name. So my 3 year old is supposed to sign a check? Then they told me it would have cost $10.00 to cash it anyway when it is only a $25.00 check. If the person at your banking establishment wrote the check, why is the fee so high? At Johnson bank, you can cash a check for free as long as the check is issued originally from someone who banks with them. The teller was not very friendly about the check cashing situation and made me feel as if I had wasted HER time. She wasted my time. I will never bank there. or cash a check. One word --- "RIDICULOUS" for a credit union. read more
