Okay, I need to get the obvious out of the way: EDSA Beverage is a goddamn hassle to go to. For the most part, I didn't even know where it was exactly. I mean, I knew it was in EDSA Southbound, between Connecticut St and Ortigas Ave, but that doesn't really narrow it down. And it's also difficult to commute to. Either you take a taxi (Good luck explaining the directions to your cabbie... if he will drive you there in the first place), or you get down on Santolan MRT (Via MRT) or Soliven bus stop (Via bus) and walk. Yes, walk along EDSA. Yes, god mode ang difficulty, guys.
But frankly speaking, that's the only reason I knocked off a star from my review. If not for that, EDSA Beverage should have top marks. EDSA beverage is as good as the hype claims. I had one of the best coffees I have ever had in here, and coming from a self-confessed coffee snob such as me, that's saying a lot.
The major takeaway with these third wave coffee places is that they do the whole hullabaloo to give you a coffee with tasting notes. Coffee that has hints of other flavors. For coffee snobs, it is simply divine, and even non-coffee snobs will concede that these coffees are much more flavorful that what they usually drink (Which isn't saying much, TBH). Well, EDSA Beverage served me an espresso (Done as a latte) that had incredible flavor and nuance, with exactly the tasting notes they said it would have. These guys know their stuff.
I'm almost sorry I'm not having any of their handcrafted beers, but I did have one of their fizzy drinks as well. Lunch was excellent as well.
The interiors are either dark and comfy, or light and cheery, depending where you sit. These guys also have a thousand and one things going on in here, and the barista who served me gave me names of coffee shops I need to try out. Considering I've tried out a lot, I can't believe I still missed out on some places. Again, these guys know their stuff.
This would be a perfect Coffice, IF they had wifi. Having said that, it will do quite nicely. read more
