I originally when in looking for Italian or South American wines and to y luck, I found some well rounded options. While I have to say that I am a tremendous fanatic of Italian wines, I have been venturing to explore more in the regions of Puglian, tuscani and Veneto 1- Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo 2017 / 750 ml. IMO, this wine was an easy drinkers wine, you don't have to have food to really appreciate this Sangiovesi-merlot blend. This wine offers a very intense bouquet as you open it you can smell the nose strong alcohol 13.5% and I had this wine with a beautiful Pizza pie from my favorite local pizza "Brothers Pizza " ( see my review for this top pizzeria in my neighborhood) The wine lends itself to be paired with red sauce, intense ripe cherries and while it is a high level of alcohol, it feels well balance on the palate. So much so that I bought 3 bottles and we had 1 bottle over pizza and 1 on another occasion while we were chatting with friends and sharing good wine. The price is what I like the most as I did not want to spend more than $20 per bottle, so I was definitely well below my budget. I have had a blended Valpolicella Ripasso-Merlot, which by the way it was way out of my budget at $40. While I do not recall the name now, it certainly was worth the price but is not an everyday drinking wine. 2- Allegrini - Palazzo della Torre 2016 (750ml) Red Wine Italy | Veneto Valpolicella | Corvina , Rondinella , Sangiovese I had seen this wine at the Edison costco a while back and I never got it. A buddy bought it and he shared it with me and it end up being a good solid reliable choice for a wine that can be had as an easy drinking option under $20. This is another blended wine with corvina and Sangiovese being the most predominant varietals that immediately come thru on the palate. I had this wine with grilled pork chops and it came across lighter on the palate when had with food. I had it now a few times, very consistent in terms of quality and smooth finish. 3-Castello Banfi Rosa Regale Brachetto de Aqui This was an excellent choice for a light summer, refreshing sparkling wine. The nose has a soft yet delicate scent of Strawberry, rasberry and slight effervescence that does not impede the palate. In fact the effervescence make this wine an ideal dessert wine as it settles with a nice crisp, dry finish. We paired it with a grilled shrimp salad and I have to tell you all the ladies loved this wine. Depending on where you are this wine can be somewhat expensive $23 to $28 per bottle. 4- Castello Monaci Aiace Salice Salentino Riserva 2015 Negroamaro from Puglia, Italy This wine was picked based on the urge to try something new and different. Totally by chance and as such that is why is at the bottom of my list. Negro Amaro is a not a well know varietal. The name it self translates into Black-Bitter, think of the heel of the boot ( map of Italy) and you know where this wine comes from. This is a blended wine as it is blended with Malvasia, another less known varietal that you hardly ever hear about. I would consider this wine a hate or love relationship or maybe short or long term relationship? Certainly there is no in between, definitely jammy fruit forward wine with a moderate level of acidity that on the first sip can pucker your palate and deliver heat simultaneously. Very strong character for an Italian blended red wine. My suggestion is to have this wine with lamb chops, mouton or pork. We had it with the New zealand lamb chops from Costco, which are totally awesome simply grilled with salt and pepper but that's another review all together. Negro Amaro delivers sophistication to the palate. You nose picks up a strong scent of alcohol, which in terms can tell you there is a high level of heat to the wine. I would say that if you are familiar with sangiovese you will not be disappointed with this wine. Really it was a good talking point during dinner with our family as I am always left to figure out what wines will be used during family dinners. Honestly I enjoyed it but not everyone felt the same. The above 4 bottles were all very good. However, I would recommend you try them in the order listed, Trying the NegroAmaro first may deter your from moving forward. They are there to provide guidance and direction when making selections. They have quite a variety of microbrews both refrigerated and on shelves, a distinct wine and liquor selection beyond average. If you are looking for something rare like Whale's Tale Pale Ale or Death by Coconut Oskar Brewing (just examples), they can special order for your convenience. I am glad there is an American owned business which employs staff that speak English and are passionate about their service. The establishment has this hip vibe to it.

is it just me or do they only card women in this liquor store? not that I mind being carded ;)…read more (adds another star thing to review) this has got to be one if my favorite liquor stores EVER. it reminds me of my younger days , my misdrunk youth. one of the things I love about New Brunswick is all the bars and liqour stores within walking distance of my apartment. you can drink and NOT drive. they sell wine here by the BOX, how cool is that. so the booze here is plentiful and CHEAP. remember to bring cash because they don't take credit cards and remember to get someone to help you lug the liquor back to your apartment. liquids are heavy. besides it ain't fun drinking alone ;) they open late and they stay open late. the people that work here are always very helpful . the selection is not very sophisticated but neither am I, so it all evens out. its called Hub City because New Brunswick is called the Hub City, don't ask me why. summing up: good local place that is open late when you just need to replenish your depleted alcohol reserves in a hurry.

With a name like this, you wouldn't know that stocked inside is one of the best selections of bourbons, ryes, and other spirits -- especially for a little mom and pop store. It seems like every trip here (and there are many) I'm leaving with a new and obscure bourbon to try. I love that. And for those of you with deep pockets, they recently they started building out a section of higher end scotches and bourbons. No doubt that the selection of wine and beer here is excellent as well. The guys running the shop here are curation experts who know how to make the most of their space. And their prices are, without a doubt, the best in the area. Sign up for the club and save even more. In the rare event that they don't have what you're looking for, just talk to the owner and he will get it for you. These guys are all about customer service and building a loyal following of fans. They have a great selection of wine from the US, Europe, and South America, They had prosecco (!), Rosé, and Red Velvet wine from the Cupcake Vineyards. I love anything Cupcake Vineyards and it was exciting to see the Prosecco. I didn't spend too much time here since it was New Years' Eve, but I liked what I saw and can't wait to discover and try out some new vino. They have "Members pricing" which is free to join; they just need your drivers' license. I picked up my bottle of Pacific Rim and the cashier gave me the member pricing since I expressed huge interest in joining. It was too busy to sign up, but I'm definitely going to shop there from now on! Woohoo!

On two separate occasions now I have found expired seltzers in their refrigerated section. The first time I didn't realize (because I assume things are not expired if they are being sold) only to open the box to crushed cans (a clear sign of being bad). The box had expired in 2023! The second time I brought it to the attention of the staff who unfortunately did not believe me. I can't keep risking spending money on alcohol that isn't drinkable so I will have to go to one of the many other liquor stores in the area next time.

They have a ton of different types of wines/ champagne/ beer/ whiskey and more. The quantity and the availability of each type of alcohol is abundant. They have social distancing inside the store with masks on policy as well. The checkout process was hassle free and the overall experience was good. If you compare the prices to the big supermarkets then of course, there's gonna be a difference. This is a small/ local liquor store whereas supermarkets have their own policies and marketing tools. All that said, in need, this store came in handy for me and the prices weren't off the charts maybe a couple of dollars here and there but that doesn't take away from my experience especially when all the nearby stores were closed and this was the only option.

It's within walking distance of a friend's house for those late night move sessions, and they are next to a dominos in case you're hungry. I find this to be one of those places that are hard to find unless you're from perth amboy. Definitely recommend this is you really need a glass of wine after a long day or if you've ran out and just need more.
