While he was supposed to be here for just a test or two they kept him at the Maz for about a week, because there were some issues. I really liked that the Mazankowski specializes in heart issues, and that the doctors and nurses here weren't just going to do some tests and let my grandfather go home without being certain he would be okay. I came here with my grandmother to visit my grandfather one evening and I was pleasantly surprised at the facilities. The hospital (institute) is clean and well taken care of. The nurses that came by to check on my grandpa and his charts were friendly and professional. The space here is very nice. I mean the hospital rooms are still hospital rooms (can't get too fancy with that), but they have a healing garden on the main floor, which is really nice to go into and I'm sure patients appreciate getting a little greenness into their stay here. They also have free wifi here, which was great. There is a parkade and a pedway, which is probably the easiest way to get in. If you can walk a bit further the LRT (Health Sciences/Jubilee station) is a few blocks away. The Maz isn't a place you want to go to, but if you or someone you know ends up here it's a great health facility, and one I'm happy to see in Edmonton.

It gives me relief knowing that a place like this exists for people like me who have heart issues. My doctor was very informative and (obviously) truly knew what he was talking about. They also gave me the option to conference call with my cardiologist for my follow-up appointment from another city so I wouldn't have to travel. Would absolutely recommend this institute!

I really appreciate that Alberta Cardiology is adopting modern technology to help streamline the…read morepatient experience. There are some great ideas here, but a few technical and operational adjustments would make a world of difference for their patient base. What works well: The automated text messaging concept is excellent. The reminder sequence is very helpful, and the one-click option to add the appointment directly to a smartphone calendar is a wonderful, highly convenient feature. Areas for improvement: Form Links and System Stability: The text links sent to fill out patient consent forms ahead of time appeared to have formatting issues and wouldn't open. As a retired IT manager, I tried accessing the forms manually through the website across multiple devices (Mac and PC) and isolated the network using both Wi-Fi and cellular data, but the site was completely down. It took a few days of periodic checking before the forms finally became accessible. It would be highly beneficial for the clinic to implement better quality assurance testing and monitoring to ensure these digital tools remain stable. Appointment Timing and Door Opening: The automated system asks patients to arrive 15 minutes early. Many seniors value punctuality and will naturally arrive 30 minutes early as a courtesy. However, the clinic doors remained locked until 9:35 AM. While waiting outside wasn't a major issue on a nice spring day, many seniors rely on transit or drop-offs and shouldn't have to wait outside in inclement weather. If you ask patients to be early, it would be a huge help if the doors opened an early to accommodate them. Conclusion: Because this is a cardiology clinic, many clients are elderly or managing stressful health conditions. When automation doesn't work smoothly or doors are locked, it can add unnecessary anxiety to an already stressful day. The tech concepts here are great, but taking the time to thoroughly test the software and coordinate clinic hours with automated messaging would create a much more comfortable, seamless experience for everyone. Additionally, providing a 24-hour blood pressure monitor is a great service for gathering practical data. However, the physical setup of the device could really use some improvement. The unit hangs around your neck, but the tubing hangs completely loose and unrestricted, making it quite awkward to get on with your day. This isn't rocket science or high-tech; simply including a basic belt clip or an attachment to secure the system properly would completely fix the issue and massively improve patient comfort.

After being in the medical field for many years I can honestly say I do NOT recommend this clinic…read more I lived out of country for over 14 years to come back to the apidimi of socialized medicine. I chose Kensington medical clinic. At first, I thought I had made a good choice. Over time, I have learned I did not. At Kensington, I feel you are treated like cattle...get em in...get em out! You are lucky if you actually get 15 minutes with your doctor and still at best accomplish nothing. My doctor at Kensington forgets what tests (labs, X-rays etc she sent me for and to boot.,,NO FOLLOW up whatsoever. Her assistant is as phony as a two dollar bill! She's rude, abrupt and in my opinion a liar! I became quite ill and am still recovering. Over the worst part of my illness, WCB, my employer and insurance company sent many requisitions to my doctor and would contact me weeks after stating that they had sent required documentation 2-3 times with no response. I contacted my doctor assistant to inquire and she advised me in no uncertain terms that they have not received anything from these entities. I call all these people back and was emailed the fax transmission sheets and asked to confirm the fax number. I called Kensington again and spoke with my doctor's assistant and she confirmed the number and again in an abrupt tone, stated no documents have been received. I then advised her that I had copies of the transmission slips. She says "hang on, I'll go look one more time". It's a miracle she comes back and advised we just received it or I'm sorry, we just received it yesterday. I notified the companies who said "not us, we sent on this date, the date etc. Definitely not yesterday etc. This has not been the first time this assistant has been rude or lied to me. I had a prescription refill request sent twice from Costco and each time was told by the assistant she had not received it and was very abrupt stating it takes a week for the doctor to review and respond. Wow! Costco also confirmed they sent the request twice and sent again while we were on the phone. A few days later I received a call from the pharmacy stating they just now received the response from the doctor and would rush it out to me. Fees on doctors notes are outrageous. The insurance company requested a physician something or other to which Kensington charged me $195.00 which took about 6 minutes to fill out. I was grateful they filled it out immediately in front of me and gave me some grace period to pay as I was on short term disability and received only enough to cover my rent...not even extra to put gas in the car or cover a majority of monthly expenses. Not their problem...I get it. Here's my opinion...if you are a patient looking for a physician who truly cares about you and your healthcare...please do not go the Kensington. I am currently looking for a new doctor. As for the assistant...my opinion is she really needs to look in the mirror and consider a job change. People and honesty are not her forte. At Kensington I feel you are only a $$ sign to them. It's too bad as I feel if they focus on their patients instead of numbers they could do good things. Going here I feel like a bother to them. NO, I do NOT recommend KENSINGTON MEDICAL CLINIC

Since approximately 2018, I have experienced ongoing difficulty reaching the clinic by phone after a longstanding pattern of not receiving callbacks after leaving voicemail messages. Calls frequently go unanswered, and voicemail messages are often not returned. This has been a consistent pattern over several years, resulting in limited ability to reliably contact the clinic regarding patient care concerns. On the occasions I have reached "Pat" (office assistant), I have been told she is busy. However, when I attend the clinic in person she has not appeared to be occupied with patient related tasks and has instead been conversing with staff or not engaged in work at the front desk. I have spoken to other patients that attend this clinic and they have the same complaints and find it highly annoying. This creates a barrier to accessing care and communicating with the office. Based on my experience, patients should be aware of communication challenges when dealing with this clinic.
