Doctor Sonpar at the Smyth Clinic has been my Doctor for 15 years. He is always available and makes sure I get the care I need.

Over the past few years I've gotten a little bit of vertigo from time to time. When I woke up a couple weeks ago with the "I'm on a boat" feeling (even though I wasn't on a boat) I thought I'd call around to see if I could get into see a doctor. I called the Smyth Clinic and was told I could only get in if I got one of their doctors to be my family doctor. This was okay with me because I don't have a family doctor. I got into see Dr. Smyth that afternoon and got a prescription for my vertigo (which subsided in a few days). Only issue I had was the receptionists. Obviously, with Covid there's a plastic partition and everyone is wearing masks so it is hard to hear, but I stood and line and couldn't hear anyone say "come up" or "next person" or anything like that. The receptionist seemed annoyed that I didn't come up, but it wasn't obvious that I could/should. But the visit with the doctor went well and I'm glad I have a family doctor I can go to now. read more

I read over some of the reviews. I do agree that a few of the receptionist tend to be a bit cold and lacking people skills. That being said I called today to make an appointment and the lady that was working was SO pleasant. I had to call 2x today and SHE was amazing each time. I am leaving a 5 star review because what really matters to me is the quality of care I recieve from the doctors. My family doctor since I was young has always been Dr. Smyth. He is a 10 out of 10! His daughter is also working there now and is also amazing. Dr. Sonpar is also great when I need a quicker appointment. I drive from Edmonton to this Leduc clinic and will continue to do so for years to come. read more

The Smyth clinic has looked after both me and my mother for as long as I can remember. It's very clean with a decent sized waiting room making it easy to sit down and wait comfortably without feeling like your intruding on other patients personal space. There is of course also the typical stacks of magazines,television,and small play area to keep your little ones occupied. After the clinic expanded they offered quite a few more physician choices but it is still sometimes hard to get in to see your doctor. The longest wait I have experienced personally being about three weeks. The female doctor who we initially started out with who has since retired (her name escapes me) was excellent....my new physician not so much. I currently see Dr. Naidoo when I can't convince the lady at the front desk to book me with someone else and I find the way he deals with his patients to be quite cold and sterile. Quite literally if you get asked how you are doing today be grateful as you have caught him on a good day. He is also quick to prescribe medication. I came in once with issues concentrating,anxiety,headache,and slugishness and he immediately gave me a prescription for anti depressants within the first ten minutes. There was no discussion about other possible issues or suggestions of following up with a counselor just pills and then shooing me out of his office to get to the next patient. So in summary if your medical concerns don't need to be addressed immediately this is a decent clinic. The majority of the doctors are quite friendly and skilled in their profession with the one exception mentioned above. I have actually been in to see other doctors and if I took Naidoo out of the equation this would easily be a four star review. read more

The Smyth Clinic is a great medical clinic which is small/friendly and well staffed. I love how clean it is and how homey it feels but the receptionists at the front need to learn what a smile is and to sound more friendly on the phone. The doctors here are quick to prescribe pain meds as I found most docs in Leduc are. I once came in with a migraine and was given Percocet. I also was given T3s for a cold with some sinus discomfort. Luckily my family physician Dr. Rankin is an amazing man who I feel truly Is concerned about his patients but wont' sugar coat it for you...he will call you out on your BS if you are BS'ing him. He scares me sometimes but he's good at what he does. I switched to him after having Dr. Lee and that man I disliked with a passion as he once called me psycho and that the chronic pain I was suffering was all in my head and he was always quite rude to my children whenever I brought them in with me and bossed them around. I would give this a 4 or 5 out of 5 but I can never get In when I need to. read more
