7 of us were hungry and couldn't decide if we wanted K-Pot or this place. I'm still sitting at the…read moretable with my family writing this review because we may not ever go back any K-Pot again. Honestly, I was so skeptic because my daughter said that you don't cook the meat yourself here, that instead, the server will. We're so used to driving out to the city for Korean or Japanese BBQ where we pick out our cuts and cook them ourselves. However, after tonight, I've been converted. Our servers Eric and Jinju were exceptional. There was never a moment that we needed anything from the moment we were seated. Eric helped us with the menu and suggested popular cuts while Jinju left no gap in service. If Eric was away from our table, Jinju was not too far behind, and vice versa. They never hovered either. Just there when you needed them, and space when you needed it. We truly enjoyed the selection of proteins we chose, the unlimited sides, the sauces, the service, the atmosphere and the attentiveness of our servers. Not once did we feel rushed and when the bill arrived the cost to value matched perfectly. I wouldn't come back too soon so that I don't get over this place. I want to wait a bit so that the next opportunity to eat here will be even more exciting than the first time.

Let me see... this place wasn't bad at all. But, I had to give it 3 stars, because I feel as though…read morethere a couple of areas that weren't to my liking. Pros: Food is tasty--I really appreciated the options for sides--I loved the dumplings and and the Japchae, service was pleasant and timely-shoutout to Carlos, wait was short for a Thursday evening (no reservations--add your name to a waitlist when you arrive), all you can eat (within 2 hour window) Cons: You smell like grease and meat when you leave as they cook everything right in front of you (not bad, but don't wear anything too precious lol), you must get up to get your own beverages which seem limited to soda and other sugary options, parking was tricky and very limited Please only come here if you're really ready to throw down with some meat. You're going to get filled to the brim with protein.. so, come prepared to get your $45 per person's worth!

The seafood is extremely fresh, the broths are rich and flavorful, and the selection of small dishes is huge. There are tons of options for sides, appetizers, and even BBQ items before the meal. The dessert selection is also impressive. One thing I hope they can improve is the ice jelly (冰粉). The current red version tastes a bit like Jell-O, which feels a little off compared to authentic Chongqing ice jelly -- would love to see a more traditional texture and flavor in the future. My personal must-haves here are the lobster, crayfish, beef tripe, and pork aorta (黄喉) -- always fresh, always delicious. Overall, amazing quality, super fresh seafood, and great variety. No wonder we keep coming back.

There is such a large selection of seafood to choose from, for the price of $63.99 per person, it is not bad especially considering how much seafood and meat costs. Ordering is easy as each table has their own tablet to place orders but my only gripe was that staff need to enter a code before you can submit to the kitchen. Drinks are self service and you can get as many as you like, from sodas, water, soy milk, green tea. There is also a sauce bar that is kept very clean. Decor is amazing as staff informed me that the paintings on the walls were hand painted by an artist from China. For every 2 people, you get an option of a lobster or another type of seafood. Seafood options range from mussels to class and even razor clams. Plenty of meat and veggie options as well. Although this is supposed to be a hotpot and bbq restaurant, hotpot is the only thing available as the restaurant does not have the proper ventilation installed for the bbq grills, although the grills are right next to the hotpot. That's unfortunate as I was looking forward to grilling some of the seafood. For dessert, they had durian which I tried for the first time. It was super creamy and sweet! I've been missing out this whole time! Overall, our entire experience was great and I would definitely return.

EDIT: I have raised…read moremy review to 3 stars based on the fantastic customer service I received after I posted my review. The owner was not only open to hearing my criticism, but followed up on my complaints. He walked me through step by step what had happened, and said they are making tangible steps to improve the process. Based on this customer service, I will try the store again, with hopes that the improvements have been made. -- I bought a goat leg a year or so ago, and it was expensive, but I was okay with spending more for quality, and didn't have an issue. I recently came in to buy some more goat meat... I needed 2 lbs, but they only had 3 and 5 lbs packaged and that's all they were willing to sell, already packaged, already cut meat. I should have walked away then but I didn't. I bought the already packaged and already cut "bone in" meat. I've never before bought cut meat that was bone in, and when buying leg meat not stew meat, it's just plain weird. I am willing to pay more for quality, but I didn't get quality. The meat I bought was 1 lbs of bone, not usable for what I needed. So in reality I ended up paying not $13.99/lb but $48.55/1 lb and 13 ounces, a ridiculous price. I also feel a bit cheated, since when I weighed the meat it home, it was short by a good 1 lbs from what the package claimed. Now if the meat was good quality, that would be one thing. But the thing that really bothered me, and caused me to write this review, was the clear lack of care that went into butchering the meat. It clearly was not butchered at all, but sawed through, bone and all, into chunks. Bone dust was all over the meat, meaning I had to carefully rinse each piece to get off as much bone dust as possible. I know how to butcher meat, and should have done it myself, but this is just unacceptable from any place calling itself a butcher shop, let alone at these prices.
