I'm so upset about our experience with Edina Urgent Care. My husband went in on a Sunday with awful throat pain. He is immuno-compromised so we were trying to avoid ER due to Covid. He went in and was never looked at by a dr but was given a strep test and a Covid test- they promised to follow up with test results and a treatment plan before closing on Sunday. We've never heard back from them. He was rushed to the ER the next morning because his throat was so swollen, he couldn't swallow. The ER Dr confirmed someone should have provided him care. At the bare minimum, provided him with the test results. They provided him with absolutely zero care or direction and in turn this ended up being so much more serious than it needed to be. If your seeking actual health care, i'd encourage you to go elsewhere. read more

Walked in and was pleasantly greeted by the front desk staff. Took them about 10 minutes to check me in as a new patient. Waited about a minute after that for a nurse to call me in. The doctor came 10 minutes later. All in all, it took about an hour. I did not feel rushed, as they offered for me to stay longer until I felt better. I thought this place was clean and efficient. The nurses and doctor were knowledgeable in my opinion, and had answered all of my concerns. Not sure what the negative reviews are all about, but I would recommend coming here vs going to an emergency room. read more

I've come here for treatment for cold symptoms/sinus infections several times over the years and was always able to be seen quickly and was happy with their service. They have relocated twice in the last few years though and appear to have downsized some. I stopped there this morning without an appointment and they were closed, which was disappointing but they later opened about 3:30. Dr. Thompson is a nice, no nonsense person and they don't make you wait so I will likely be back. read more

Front desk receptionist / nurse was friendly enough. Took my insurance card and filled out paperwork for me ( I guess... I never filled out any) Elderly doctor was just busy hearing herself talk. I finally had to ask her to prescribe a common drug -- and she asked me "What is that?" After my jaw came up off the floor, I was given a paper Rx and sent on my way. No follow up instructions. No papers. No one to check out with. Bizarre experience. If given the chance I would go elsewhere. read more

Don't go here if you expect timely results. I came here on Tuesday to take a Covid test just as a precaution for work (it turns out I have the flu). Made an appointment for 4:30 and the receptionist never took any of my information. So when I get there I had to wait at least 30 minutes before anyone talked to me. The front desk lady was not nice or friendly at all. I don't expect her to ask how my day was but the way she talked to me was almost degrading. Anyways, after the doctor takes a nasal swab and gets my information he says to expect to hear back with results either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning at the latest. Still haven't heard anything from them yet. I will never go to this place again. read more

This woman never called me back to tell me I had parasites. I thought I was dying. 4 weeks later I go to a doctor at a actual clinic and they said the results from Vicki's tests were positive. Dr Vicki Thomson is a competent but I don't think she should be working with children. I'm not sure I've ever seen her smile... or frown, or demonstrate any emotion. Wait times have been up to 30 minutes. She always does a white blood count if the kid comes in with any possibility of infection. To get the blood sample the doctor's assistant pokes a finger and then milks it to fill a vial. My oldest son can't stand it and begs me to not take him to the doctor's office. Why do we use her services? As I said, she is ok at the the diagnosing and prescribing and we are established with her in a field where I don't think there are a lot of other practitioners. read more

We have been here twice now. Check in is fast and the receptionist is lovely. So kind and caring. We have had the same doc both times. Each time she has repeated questions which seemed a bit odd. The first visit I was so pleased with the thoroughness of the visit. Checked multiple sources a s a cause for my kiddos symptoms. The second time with my other kiddo didnt go as great, but still a thorough visit. She asked that he take advil while in the clinic for his fever which I felt we could do at home. Blood work was also ordered and we didnt get the results. She came in and out of the room several times and seemed confused a bit. Still recommend as multiple sources for symptoms were checked. The nurses and staff were great but Dr. Thompson was not. She forgot my children every time we went in and called my children the wrong names. Dr. Thompson also said definitively that if I didn't get my infant a bottle by 1 month she would "never take it". I wasn't able to pump until my daughter was around 2 months but she still took a bottle. At a later visit, Dr. Thompson said that if I didn't give a bottle by 6 months she would "never take it." I didn't feel much confidence in her opinion after that. My kids were on insurance through the state of MN and I wasn't told until after the first appointment we were supposed to get her vaccinations that they don't give shots to state insurance. It was a wasted appointment. Prior to switching clinics, my second child had a nasty bout of eczema and cradle cap. Dr. Thompson have me very little help and it wasn't until I went to a different clinic that I received actual creams for my baby's severe itching that I saw real results. She as well as her medical staff took excellent care of me, took the time to listen to my concerns and treated me quickly. Very professional and kind. Not the way other urgent cares treat you. I highly recommend this clinic, Dr Vickie Thompson and her amazing medical staff. She has the ONLY pediatric urgent care in the area! She also sees adults in the afternoon and evenings. I am so surprised about the range of feedback in all of the reviews. I have gone to this clinic about 6 or 7 times and found the care absolutely exceptional. Last fall I had been really struggling with breathing issues. I didn't have a regular Dr to see me as she is in another city. Dr Thomson worked with me for weeks trying to get my mystery solved. She and her staff helped me get to the right specialists and found the solution. They are an urgent care facility, but took the time to really help me navigate the complex situation. I just returned to here today to get help prep for a global trip and once again they were wonderful in every aspect of the service. The key is to look beyond the simple setting of their waiting/exam room and basic technology around file mgmt etc and be focused on the care, the treatment and the passion that this team has to genuinely serve this community. They truly view it as a calling, not a job. I would highly highly recommend this team. To be clear, I am not being paid to do this. I am not a fraud. I am truly a patient and wanted to take the time to write this review when I saw some of the other negative reviews. No one is perfect, so maybe there may have been an off day, but I have gone into this office when there is a huge line and no line. The kindness, compassion and care here is wonderful. I go to Edina urgent care whenever I have any medical needs. Dr. Thomson and Dr. Rubin are so friendly and make you feel comfortable. Anytime something is wrong they are able to diagnose the problem and get me the treatment I need. The front desk staff are very friendly and welcoming. And the nurses are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Best place to go for immediate care. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it is much quicker and easier than the hospital. read more

A few years ago I had to sit in an crowded emergency room in excruciating pain for 4 hours before I could be seen for gallstones. That was still a better experience than going to Edina Urgent Care. I showed up at 3:30 and hoped it would be quick because the waiting room was empty, yet I ended up sitting there for 30 minutes for some reason. Apparently the nurse got distracted on her way to come get me, because I listened to a her gossip with the receptionist for 10 minutes before calling my name. I thought I had bronchitis. They did a bunch of tests that my mom (a nurse) later told me we're pretty unnecessary. The nurse who worked with me was nice, but the doctor I saw was unfriendly and barely talked to me. She never told me her name (I later found out it's Dr. Thompson). Instead of telling me what she was diagnosing me with, she just gave me a handout about pneumonia. No one had even mentioned pneumonia to me, so I was confused and said, "Oh, so it's pneumonia?" She just said "mmhm" and kept writing something down. I got a nebulizer and a script for Albuterol. The nurse said the nebulizer would be just like the one I used in the office, which it wasn't whatsoever, and I didn't realize until I got home that neither her nor Dr. Thompson told me how often to use if or for how long. Dr. Thompson also told me to come back in 2 days. She didn't say why, and I didn't even think to ask. So now it's 2 days later, and here I am. Actually, I'm sitting in the lobby, because there's nobody here even though they're supposed to open at 9. I got here at 9:30 and there was sign on the door saying they won't be open until 10 today. It's 10:30. There's still nobody here and the office is still pitch black. This is so totally, completely unacceptable. When will somebody show up? WILL anybody show up? I wouldn't even be surprised at this point. Worst urgent care ever. Don't go here for any reason. read more

Worst urgent care ever. I have been twice and prescribed a heavy antibiotic for pneumonia, but never got an x-ray. When I needed a nebulizer and needed my chest listened to by the medical assistant (who was male.) the doctor told me that he is shy about treating women, but just tell him to listen anyway. Worst urgent care experience and medical treatment I've ever received. Would highly NOT recommend, nor will I ever return. Though I was checked in and seen quickly, the rest of the experience was awful. I visited the new Edina location, 7380 France Avenue South. It clearly was not set up to see patients yet. It looked like they were only half moved in from the other Edina location. I found this to be very odd and unprofessional, but tired to see past it since I knew they had recently relocated and figured they were still getting things set up. I was never seen at the other Edina location, but knew where it was. I came in with what I assumed to be an infected cut. When Dr. Vicki Thompson (who had a huge stain on her jacket) came in she said, "so you have a rash." I proceeded to tell her I had an a cut that looked infected, and she said, "oh, so you have an infected cut." The whole reason I was there seeking medical attention was because I wasn't sure if it was infected or not and I wanted the opinion of a healthcare professional. She said she was going to soak the wound for 10 minutes and then "dig around in there to see if there's any dirt." After 10 minutes the nurse came in to put the dressing on to soak. She did a good job, but I never saw her again. I was then left in the room alone for 20 minutes. Finally, after 30 minutes Dr. Thompson came back in with a different nurse. The nurse opened a highly discolored plastic bag and pulled out a big tweezers, which was also very discolored and appeared to have stains on it. YUCK! I literally almost asked if it was sterile. Maybe it was, but as a patient I shouldn't have to question whether or not something that the doctor is using to poke around in an open wound is sterile or not. As if that wasn't bad enough, Dr. Thompson basically used the tweezers to poke at the wound and used what felt like a coarse paper towel to repeatedly wipe the wound. I asked her if she could be more gentle, suggesting she dab the wound instead of wipe it. She said, "okay," but totally disregarded what I had asked as continued wiping it over and over again. Not the most comfortable feeling on an open wound. I finally had to lay back because I couldn't stand the pain any longer. Multiple times she asked, "am I killing you?" I was clearly in a lot of pain but she didn't seem to care. At one point, Dr. Thompson open the door with her gloves and then came back into the room just a few moments later to treat me with what appeared to be the same gloves. Once the torture was over, the nurse left the room and Dr. Thompson said she would be prescribing an antibiotic. She proceeded to hand write a prescription and told me to "take two as soon as you get home, and take one later tonight." Once Dr. Thompson left, the nurse came back into the room to put on some gauze, but they didn't even have a band-aid big enough to cover the dressing, so they put tape on either side to hold the band-aid and dressing in place. She also saw the handwritten prescription sitting on my purse and said, "do you want me to just send that in for you?" After leaving the exam room, Dr. Thompson was sitting on a chair and said, "oh, and if you see any streaking, come back right away." Apparently she forgot to mention that while I was actually being treated. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription, I gave them my name and they said, "we have one ready but we're waiting for the second one." I wasn't sure why I was getting two prescriptions, but I thought maybe it was one of my regular medications that happened to be getting filled at the same time. When I finally got the prescriptions and opened the bag there was an oral antibiotic and a topical antibiotic. The oral antibiotic had instructions to take one pill three times per day. Dr. Thompson had never mentioned to take any past the the original three on the day I was seen. Having been on oral antibiotics before I figured I would have to take them multiple times per day for 10-14 days, but Dr. Thompson failed to actually tell me that when I was being seen. Additionally, she never mentioned that I would be receiving a topical antibiotic, so I used the instructions on the package for treatment. After a few days the wound appeared to be getting worse, not better. I ended up going to a different urgent care since I had vowed not to be seen by Dr. Thompson again. Turns out I was having an allergic reaction to the topical antibiotic that Dr. Thompson never told me how to use. I stopped using the topical antibiotic and finally started to see improvements. I am absolutely disgusted by the level of care I received and how unprofessional Dr. Thompson was. I will never return as a patient to Edina Urgent Care. Also knowing that Dr. Thompson sees children as part of Edina Pediatrics highly concerns me. I don't have kids, but I would never let her treat my children. read more

Ridiculous wait times. Over an hour at every step of the way. The nurses forgot numerous pieces of equipment during the process of checking vitals. Their computer systems didn't work and as a result they were unable to determine my insurance eligibility. All in all, I can't imagine ever coming back here. Dr. Wengler is competent, efficient, and pleasant. She knows her stuff. Dr. Thompson is brusque, quick to order tests (especially white blood counts as another reviewer noted), and has prescribed antibiotics a couple times, when their own nurse practitioner later noted it wasn't necessary. They lost our daughter's files--all of them since birth--and in the process of trying to pull school records together, Dr. Wengler discovered the office staff hadn't been entering my daughter's vaccinations in the state database. It took them a month to do anything about it, and by then we'd moved out of state. We had to recreate everything from my vaccination records and the records we had on file at our nursery school. Everyone but Dr. Wengler was rude and unresponsive, and they never refunded the $25 I gave them to pull her records. I would not recommend them. read more

I've been here 3 times and every time I have come I have to wait at least an hour. For "urgent care" it's not very urgent to them. I literally waited 45 minutes after they took my strep test to walk out and ask what's taking so long and there were no other patience in any of the rooms around me. I went to this clinic 2 weeks ago after experiencing pressure in my chest, some shortness of breath, and a lot of anxiety. I asked the woman at the front desk if I could get checked out because I didn't feel my symptoms were severe enough for the ER. Without even looking up at me, the woman said, "Read the door. Urgent care isn't open yet." I asked if she knew of another clinic that WAS open nearby and again without even looking at me she handed me a piece of paper with locations in distant suburbs of Minneapolis. The service at Edina Pediatrics was questionable, from the doctor, to the billing staff, and the front desk staff. We had to do several follow-up visits here just after giving birth at Fairview Southdale (they must have a partnership with the hospital). We were not terribly impressed by Dr. Thompson, as she is very brusque and quick to order tests, as noted by other reviewers, and they took almost a full year to send us a bill for one of the visits, making it difficult to reconcile their billings with our records and memories. Some time later, we had a need for a walk-in visit when our child was ill and we tried the clinic again. Dr. Thompson saw us in an exam room, and peevishly noted that we had chosen a different clinic for our regular check-ups. Then, immediately after handing us a prescription note, she abruptly left while we were still dressing our child in the exam room, although somewhat humorously she continued giving us instructions about the medicine as she walked away from us down the hallway back toward her office. Upon going to the front desk, where Dr. Thompson had said we could get our prescription filled, there was no one staffed there, and we waited several minutes while calling back "hello?" towards a back room before someone finally came out to help us. To their credit, contrary to Dr. Thompson's advice, this staff person told us their prescription drug prices are extremely high at the clinic, and we'd be much better off going to Target or Walgreens instead. To top it all off, Dr. Thompson missed a heart defect that was detected by our family practice doctor. Under no circumstances will we visit Edina Pediatrics in the future. read more

Terrible. I had to wait over an hour before being seen, and this was after I had to knock on the "employee only" door to try to find someone to help me. The clinic waiting room was empty, so I'm not sure where the issue came from. The clinic is not up to date, still using paper charting and old equipment. I'm glad my issue wasn't truly "urgent" and ultimately I went to another clinic. Save your time and go to another clinic. I would say, that the front desk lady when I was leaving was very apologetic and kind. She unfortunately wasn't the one that checked me in and wasn't there while was waiting. read more

I guess hanging up on you after you say "thank you" is the receptionists way of saying "thanks, have a nice day". I mean... twice. They charge $30+ for a copy of medical records. Wait times are long- once a doctor told us she "didn't know" we were there. And my favorite memory of all time: my daughter's 12 month check-up. My daughter's doctor quit, so we were seen by a different doctor. The doctor (who I won't name) said "ok? Ok" enough times to make my partner question my sanity for choosing this clinic. There seemed to be some disagreement between her and the nurses, and she told us about how irritated she was about some misplaced paperwork. She told us to stop co-sleeping IMMEDIATELY, and make our daughter cry it out for 'an hour or however long it takes'. Icing on the cake was when she told me I had to stop breastfeeding IMMEDIATELY or my daughter's teeth would fall out. When I finally couldn't stifle it anymore, and let out a giggle, she looked at me and sternly told me she was serious. Some nice staff here, but they need a nice big team meeting or something. read more

Western medicine scares the hell out of me so when I had a swollen tonsil I felt really unnerved at what might await me. I was seen within ten minutes. Diagnosed with strep within the ten minutes after and sent off with a script and the suggestion of cranberry juice to kill the strep quicker. The waiting room is really aesthetically pleasing too. I had stomach issues and went here for a short visit on a Saturday morning. The good news, it was pretty empty. The bad news was it felt very old school, my physician (Dr. Thompson) really just kept saying "Ok" over and over again and I had to keep asking her questions as she wasn't providing me with any information. From the time she walked in I didn't have a good feeling, she wasn't dressed professionally at all and just didn't seem to have an air of confidence (was she retired and came back to work?). They did run a few tests which I was happy about but all in all, everything she told me I read on the internet. That little one hour visit was billed to my insurance for a whopping $700 (no exrays), I was shocked. Oh well, lesson learned. I would never go back there again. read more

My child needed a stitch or two on the back of her head because she tripped and fell on the sidewalk. I called before arriving to be sure they could do stitches on a child. They said yes. I called again and asked if they could handle a possible concussion and again they said yes. I told them we would be right there. Her and her nurses were so unprofessional, and were ordering so many tests ( including white blood cell) and ended up prescribing so many different prescriptions. We have brought our two sons, now ages 16 and 18, to Edina Pediatrics since infancy. We have met with both Dr. Thomson and Dr. Wengler on numerous occasions and have been very happy with the practice. They are concerned about their patients, are kind and thorough, and in my opinion have never prescribed medications unnecessarily. I recommend them highly. read more

DO NOT EVER AGREE TO BE TREATED HERE! I have never been treated so poorly in my life than at Edina Pediatrics/Urgent Care. I was in Minnessota on business and somehow got an infection. I called the Urgent Care part of Edina Pediatrics and told them who my insurance company was and asked if they accepted it. They assured me that they did and that I needed to come in as soon as possible for treatment. They could not diagnose anything and ordered "tests" to be completed. I called over the next two weeks to see what my results were and NEVER received the results. Upon my arrival home, I received a bill in the mail for hundreds of dollars and when I called Edina to ask what happened THEY HUNG UP ON ME THREE TIMES!!! Then proceeded to tell me that all communication must be in writing from that point on. These people don't care about human beings, they couldn't care less about ethics or diagnosing or treating illness. They care only about money and are the rudest, foulest people I have ever encountered. If you have any kind of choice to go anywhere else, please do so! There is not one person in this office with a conscience, empathy or ethics in this office. read more
