I first contacted him when my husband received an interview at Mayo Clinic for residency. Mayo Clinic was high on his list and we were very seriously considering buying a house. When I contacted Justin, he was able to schedule me in for the exact day of my husband's interview. This worked out very well as I was able to get a tour of the whole Rochester area and potential houses/neighborhoods we would be interested in. I was very impressed that he spent almost the whole day showing me around when it wasn't even guaranteed that my husband would match here. Fast forward five months, match day came and we ended up matching here! Justin was one of the first calls I made to try and schedule a day we could come look at houses :-) He was very flexible and accommodating and worked with our very hectic schedules. He was very observant and pointed out flaws on houses that we didn't end up buying. I appreciated this as he wasn't trying to make a sale, he put our best interests first and wanted to make sure we bought a home that we would be happy in. He also did a video recording of the house we ended up buying as we quickly saw it and had to make a rushed decision (BTW - Rochester housing market is crazy! If you see a house you like make an offer because it won't last!). At our request, he was present for our home inspection. This really made us feel comfortable as I know he was always after our best interests and asked questions I didn't even think to ask. We also wanted to put a fence up shortly after moving and he contacted our future neighbor for us to coordinate latching onto their adjoining fence (since we were 1600 miles away). Furthermore, Justin didn't just walk away when our sale was final on our house. We had some follow-up questions and he was readily available by phone just as he always was to help answer any questions. His response time via phone is great for us millennials who hate waiting and want a response back asap :-) I would highly recommend Justin to all family and friends! We plan on keeping him not only as a real estate agent to use in the future but also as a friend!!!

(April - June 2021) He walked us through every step of the process and was always readily available to answer EVERY question I had. I tend to stress very easily in these type of proceedings and Alex made me feel as if we were his only clients (when he was busy with many)! In buying a new home, he worked with us to get a feel for what we wanted, what we could afford, and to understand just how competitive the housing market is today. We knew it would not be easy, but he definitely made everything easier to handle. He was also the listing agent to sell our old house and again, he walked us through what we wanted to get out of the house, what we would need to do on our side and what he would do to make it available. Alex went above and beyond our expectations here and again, walked us through step by step. I can't thank Alex Mayer enough for all he did, as both buyer and seller. I highly recommend working with him for his skills, expertise and just making his customers feel positive all around. Thanks Alex!

I was observing the agent from Counselor work with my daughter in selling her house August 2018…read more Its my opinion this agent was more concerned about getting the house sold asap for his own agenda, not concerned about getting the best offer for the house, taking advantage of my daughter's inexperience, giving all the negotiating control to the buyer, getting a deal that was below asking price with large dollar concessions and lots of hoops to jump through for the buyer, and costing her the total closing costs. And then this agent tells my daughter that she really did good on this deal.

Black Swan Living - Mold affected washing machine on move in.

On my move-in day, there was a trespasser in the building that required a law enforcement response, which wasn't a great start and raised concerns about security and lack of management response during this incident. Shortly after moving in, I discovered the washing machine in my unit was mold-affected. It took additional follow-up before it was replaced. Within the first week, I was also told that the garage parking space included in my lease had been double-leased, which led to billing issues and took over a month to fully resolve. Over time, there were additional billing errors and communication from management often felt inconsistent or unclear. I also raised concerns about building access and security, including occasions where entry points were not properly secured during winter. While I made consistent efforts to address these issues, the experience overall didn't meet expectations in terms of responsiveness, value, or coordination. The leasing team did work with me on a mutual early termination agreement, and my security deposit was returned in full. I would recommend asking detailed questions about how maintenance requests, billing, and security concerns are handled before signing a lease. Please consider all of your options before pursing a lease with Black Swan

I was charged double rent, and not a single person followed up with me or apologized. I emailed, got no response, and finally had to call in. When someone finally did speak to me, I was told not to pay anything until they adjusted the mistake. I followed their instructions. Because of their error, I had to remove my autopay so I wouldn't be charged 2600 dollars again. Even after all of that, they still charged me a late fee for a situation they created. The lack of communication, the billing error, and the complete lack of accountability made it clear to me that they don't value their residents. The experience was bad enough that I chose to pay an early termination fee rather than continue renting with them, even though I had 14 months left on my lease. If you're considering renting one of their properties, please be aware: Their accounting is sloppy, communication is slow, and mistakes are pushed onto residents instead of being owned and corrected. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone based on what I've experienced.
