I'll admit, I had reservations on how strong their academics would be. But, when my child had taken their ACT and did so well, I know that this school had prepared for college and beyond. Well worth going to an informational session, see if there are other parents too with current or previous students to hide you input on the school. My child has always felt safe and able to express who they actually are.

They made soap, made and painted sculptures, worked with clay, water colors, drawings and collages, paper flowers, woven llamas and even had a llama visit and had ice cream at the neighboring parlor. I asked what our son would like others to know, and he said: you may not make what I made, but you'll get to do something awesome. Mrs Ross knows how to run a classroom too. There were a lot of vendors selling all types of goods from jewelry, clothing, accessories, trinkets and more. They had some performances going on as well. They also had traditional games and crafts going on in one of the conference rooms. Generally something for everyone! The building itself was nice from the areas we were able to access. I actually probably spent more than ten minutes there. Call it twenty. If you are older than 30, you have probably seen some of his work at one time or another in your life. It has been featured on numerous magazine covers. Usually, caricatures of political figures seen on the front of Time, U.S. News & World Report, etc. He has also had work published in Mad Magazine and other periodicals. Much of his stuff will definitely give you a chuckle. My only complaint about the exhibit is there was not a ton of stuff in it. Just one smallish room with maybe fifty or so pieces and many of those being sketches and not paintings. In addition to the caricatures, there were many pieces featuring dogs, religious work and a few other odds and ends. If you are interested in drawing yourself, he will be teaching a class at the Center in August. Per his Wikipedia page, he currently resides in Minnesota.

Mistakes happen. We had a significant billing issue involving several hundred dollars, along with a communication problem that Kidcreate itself acknowledged was caused by its system sending incorrect cancellation notices. What concerns me is how the situation was handled once we tried to resolve it. We reached out to Lara, the owner, explained what happened, and tried to find a reasonable solution--even offering to accept a future credit instead of a refund. Lara initially responded, but offered no resolution. Since then, repeated emails and calls have gone unanswered. I don't expect a children's program to operate without ever making a mistake. I do expect the person who owns and operates the business to communicate, show some empathy, and take responsibility when a legitimate problem arises. Our children enjoyed Kidcreate, but how a business responds when something goes wrong matters just as much as the experience when everything goes right.

Her teacher is great; our daughter talks about how much she likes her, and she has been great at debriefing us on progress. The whole space is very clean and comfortable, and they are so flexible with when you can come too. My only real complaint is that they need one closer to Minneapolis! If you are pregnant, get on the waiting list asap. When we toured St.Peter's we knew right away this was where we wanted our son. The facilities are beyond anything you will find for child care. It is clean. They have a HUGE gymnasium where the kids can have recess in the winter or when it's rainy. There are balls, toys, trykes for them to ride, etc. This is something we didn't find ANYWHERE else. And in Minnesota, a space for kids to run around indoors is so essential. They also have a muscle room for the kids who are just learning to move around. There are safe objects for them to climb on. Often times at pickup I will see kids riding around in the buggies down the halls just for a change of scenery while they wait for their parents. I think in the summer they walk back and forth outside on the sidewalk out front. The infant room has volunteer grandmothers that come and rock babies, our son gets a ton more attention than he did at the daycare we used while waiting for his spot at St.Peters. The grandmas enjoy holding him when he naps at times, even though it's not necessary, they just like to. I drop in sometimes and visit my son. Most of the times I've come he's being held or he's playing and happy. (they do not ususally know I'm coming) The atmosphere is inviting and the staff and volunteers display so much love for the kids it makes my heart happy to witness. In the short time he's been there they have done multiple art projects. The kids go to chapel on a regular basis as well. Tonight is a christmas concert that the children are putting on for the parents. They have parent aware nights where you can meet other parents and everyone does some type of volunteer activity together. The last one was making meals for people less fortunate. When we started we received a welcome bag with lots of fun stuff including a hand made knitted blanket. I mean I could go on and on all day. This place has exceeded our wildest expectations and knowing what childcare can be like elsewhere I sometimes have to pinch myself that this is real life. Since starting, my baby boy has not giggled and smiled so much in his entire life. I can tell he is truely happy here.
