Breakfast was included with our hotel stay, so of course we are going to take advantage of it. Edie Rae's Cafe is a very small place that serves breakfast and brunch with limited hours. It's inside the Old Courthouse Inn, which is a place you should stay in Powell River. Built in 1939, it's decorated in that era, and it's fantastic in my opinion. The restaurant has a series of photographs that are black and white on the walls, and are not to be missed. The service was prompt and attentive, although to be fair there were only two tables occupied. The food is straight forward, well cooked, tasty and comes out promptly and hot. Bacon and eggs, potatoes and toast along with tea, nothing better in the AM for us. Would most definitely stay at the hotel again and enjoy their breakfast! read more

Charming little cafe set within The Old Courthouse Inn. You can enter from the front or back (parking lot area) of the historic old building. We decided to sit at the patio to enjoy the warm weather. There is a swing at one side which is fun for both adults and kids. Our server was fantastic! Friendly and very accommodating. Some of us were sharing dishes and he managed to get the orders right and came with extra plates and napkins etc. I shared an eggs Ben (Figgy Linda) and small pancakes (Chase's cakes) with my friend. It was the perfect portion to try the egg Benny and pancakes. The food was very yummy and well executed with fluffy soft pancakes and runny yolk for the eggs. I have attempted to dine here several times, but have been unsuccessful each time. The hours posted do not reflect the actual hours they are open. I usually enjoy going out for brunch with my family on Sunday afternoons, but every time I call, they inform me that they are "closing early." On one occasion, I even decided to show up in person because no one answered the phone. Despite seeing them serve other guests, they told me they weren't taking any more customers and were closing early. This was incredibly disappointing, especially after driving all the way to Townsite. Unfortunately, this experience might explain why Megpies is so busy on Sundays, often with lines out the door. From what I've read in other reviews, it seems the issues might extend beyond just the irregular hours to include the food quality and the owner's attitude. read more

Had breakfast here twice during my stay. It was fantastic both times!! I loved my meals both times. The hash browns are super good (better than I can make at home). The bacon is thick. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the French toast was yummy too. Everything is made in house and you can tell. My only regret is they close too early. I would have come back for a breakfast themed dinner. I'll be back my next time in PR. My server, Kendra (I think) was very friendly and helpful. She's lovely. read more

Wonderfuly quaint. Personality themed retro diner in an old courthouse turned hotel. The waitress was awesome. A hard worker and very kind. We were seated right away and lulled with nice 40s music playing in thr background. I had the Leo and my wife had The omelette. Over all it was a very old school homemade but with flair affair. Homemade preserves accompanied the toast and all in all it was all very good. I was a little disapointed i didnt get sausage links but patties instead which can be asked for but i didnt read the menu very well. The sauasage patties taste homemade but i am not a fan. They are also i. Thr omellette but my wife loved them. I find them sort of dry. Not complaining mind you. Everything was good, just know if you want links ask for them. read more

We went to Edie Rae's with high expectations, we left severely disappointed. I would first like to say that this post has nothing against the servers, they tried their best and were courteous throughout. This post relates to the quality of food which was poor and the chef/owner who is downright disrespectful. Yesterday we went to Edie Rae's for Father's Day, we were visiting from the lower coast and had another family with us, a total of 7 people. We ordered 7 dishes and coffees and this is where the farce starts. Our coffees were bitter and cold. The food was poor at best, the toast burnt, the eggs whether scrambled or poached were totally over cooked, the meat was dry and the hash browns were raw. Given this we hardly ate any of the food but still paid $180 with tip for this breakfast. My partner who is a server was upset with the quality of the food and the cost and went to speak with the server. The server was great and offered to refund 2 of the breakfasts, we expected more but we were happy to take this offer. There was an issue processing the refund so the server went to speak with the owner who happened to be the chef. This is were it got serious. It was pretty clear that the owner/chef was clearly offended that someone dare question the quality of his food, especially a server. He came rushing out the kitchen and started being verbally intimidating and confrontational with my partner who stayed calm throughout. He was rude, offensive and disrespectful to a female customer who he had just served a terrible meal too. This was a male being aggressive to a female in front of other customers including children. I guess the moral of the story is don't question quality of this guys food unless you want to be berated. Needless to say we will never be returning and we won't be recommending this diner to any of our friends and family. read more

Edie Rae's is an adorable, quaint little gem. We had to leave our campsite in Lund by 11am but our ferry wasn't until 4 so we decided to stop for second breakfast (because camping = everyone is now a hobbit). We did a quick Yelp search of the area, and Edie Rae's was top of our list to try. It's super easy to find, being just off the main road, and inside the Courthouse Inn. We were greeted by a delightful man who called us 'silly kids' for not making a reservation for 7 people on Father's Day! He was a sassmaster, and I was a fan! The other server we spoke to was also delightful, making jokes and smiling the whole time. The decor is really cute - lovely wood everywhere, and everything painted a bright, robin's egg blue. There are little trinkets of silverware on a high shelf, and large blown up photos of Edie Rae (the mum of one of the owners) doing some pin-up style modelling on the beach in Powell River! We ordered, and I was very happy with the giant french press of decaf coffee they brought me! When my hash arrived I was definitely ready for second breakfast, but managed to snap a quick pic before I devoured it! The potatoes and veggies were cooked nicely in together, and seasoned well. My medium poached egg on the side was a little harder than I was hoping (no runny yolk) but it was still delicious. They had Sriracha and ketchup galore to perfect the meal, and they sure don't skimp on the avocado! I was very happy! My friends' french toast and pancakes all looked great, and everyone seemed very happy with their meal. If I find myself back in Powell River I will definitely stop in here! read more

If you want the real deal for breakfast while in Powell River?? Well then Edie's is the place to go. By far the cleanest restaurant in PR and to my knowledge the better of the 2 that actually make fresh Hollandaise from scratch, (the other is Nancy's in Lund a bit of a drive for breakfast unless you're out that way for fishing or a hike) just sometimes I need like 2 tablespoons extra lol. Homemade blackberry jam and nothing deep fried either my recommendation is the Powell Riviera Benny with added fig jam and a side of local sausage patties. A meal that'll keep you running till 6pm or later. Wanna lighten it up a bit swap out the homemade biscuits for toast rounds under the Benny. All in all a place that doesn't disappoint and has kick ass hash browns. read more

This place was recommended by our BNB hosts so we decided to give it a try. Located in a historic house that feels like a museum, it looks like it has kept the same decor since it was an old courthouse almost a hundred years ago. The cafe is small, clean and quaint. Our server was nice and the menu looked pretty good with a decent selection of breakfast items with reasonable pricing. Coffee was decent and the food came out pretty quick. I ordered the Denver omelette which was so over cooked it was crispy and dark brown. Then sliced cheese was layed on top and it was put in the salamander which over cooked it even more, a shame really. Hash browns were undercooked, bland, burnt and cold, which is tough to do. My girlfriend got a salmon Bennie and said the salmon was nice but the English muffin was stale and tough. Her egg was also poached hard when she asked for soft poached which as anybody knows is a real let down. Overall a pretty crappy breakfast. I wouldn't go back. read more

Beautiful decor, robins egg blue walls with vintage pictures on the walls. Huge variety, I can't remember the name of what I got.. It may have been the townsite bene.. It was an English muffin topped with avocado, fried tomato, poached egg, and hollandaise. I also got a side of back bacon.. After taking one bite I almost melted to the floor. Edie Rae's, in the Old Courthouse Inn, serves up a mean breakfast in a lovely space. One of the best eggs bene's I've had-- I had the powell riviera and it was fresh and tasty! My partner had the Edie Rae and loved it. Everything, including the biscuit, from scratch--breakfast perfection! The staff are such a friendly bunch. I love that the breakfast item names reflect some powell river history, and that the place is in homage to the owner's mother. The room is lovely and the vibe is comfortable. Many personal touches and you can see (and taste!) that this is a labour of love. Next time I'm in town I want to check out dinner and the signature drink! read more

Lovely place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. Nicely decorated, excellent friendly service with very reasonable prices and cheap by most city standards. Today's carrot ginger soup was excellent, the salad very fresh with a lovely light miso orange dressing and a huge sandwich all for $12.00. Best Eggs Bene ever! Had the vegetarian Powell Riviera (avocado and tomato) and it was Amazing. Eggs where so fresh I asked if they had a chicken in the kitchen. The ripeness of the avocado and tomato was just right and the ratio of hollandaise sauce was perfect with the richness of the avocado. The eggs where cooked to perfection and the homemade biscuit offered a crispness to this delicious dish. Definitely the best breakfast in town. Coffee is also 5 star!!! read more
