Not worth coming here trust me!…read more A bake shop that specializes in making cakes and cupcakes. You can't just walk in and order a cupcake, like other places. The minimum order is 6! And they arent cheap. So be prepared to wait 15 minutes for a minimum order. I got strawberry shortcake and pretty in pink. The icings of both were good but cake part was less to be desired. The cake was a little mushy and not firm and not tasty. Definitely not of high quality ingredients. It would be nice if they offered other baked goodies that you can get without waiting. On my first visit my guy, was pleased to see a blacked owned business in the area. The owner seemed to be insulted by the comment. She snapped back and said we are a "woman owned business" in a sassy tone. Ummm ok lady, dude was trying to give you a compliment okay! For an expensive cupcake place you would expect better decor. Not sure if the women there are all related but they need to lose the stale face attitude and save the snotty comments and they should lower their prices on their low quality cupcakes.

No worries though, because I went with my number one favorite, Cookie Monster, for one scoop and Buddy's Breakfast for the other. Buddy's Breakfast was super festive and holiday-like with peanuts and marshmallows. I got it all in a waffle bowl dipped in chocolate, and it was absolutely amazing. The shop itself was very clean, and I love how they rotate different flavors, which always gives me a reason to come back and try something new. The staff is always so sweet, nice, and personable, and they really make sure you are taken care of every time. While I was there, I noticed they had dog bones, so I grabbed one for my dog Smokey. The guy working asked if I wanted a pup cup, which I did not even know they offered. He gave me vanilla ice cream with a bone on top for my dog, and I thought that was such a special touch. Smokey loved it, and it did not upset his stomach at all. I already cannot wait to take my dog back for his birthday on January 24 so he can get another pup cup. I love Always Ice Cream and will always be back. If you have never tried it, this is definitely your sign.

So we drove a good 30mins to get here, with anticipation from seeing this restaurant on a travel channel, but the original location is in NY. We get there, and its plenty of free parking. We ask for seating for 3 and we are told they are only seating individuals who booked a reservation. Totally understandable considering its Valentine's day. I dropped the ball folks. I didn't make a reservation. So I noticed a bar lounge which we were told we could wait for a seat to open up. As we were waiting a coupled jumped in front us and took a seat. The manager Claudia came to the rescue like the dark knight but with more grace. She mentioned she was willing to put us on the list for a table in the main dining area. I accepted her kind gesture and continued to wait for bar lounge seating to open up. A couple was kind enough to come over to us and ask if we were waiting for bar lounge seating. They offered their table to us as they were ending their night. There was a 2 man band playing in the lounge area that was very soothing to the ear. As I tried to help my mother get comfortable at the hightop table, I noticed she was having a difficult time getting seated in such a high chair. Guess who came to the rescue, you guessed, Claudia! She's the best, 100 grand, made me a real fan. So she came over and said our table was ready if we wanted a booth seating and we all know that's the best seats in the house. All I could think is look at God. The wait wasn't even long either. 10 out of 10 for saving the day. In addition our waitress was such a sweetheart. I mentioned a white malbec I saw on the menu that I was astonish to see b/c I never knew of such a thing. She bought me a small glass to taste and my God, I am a true believer Jesus turned water into wine. Its so clear like water but the taste is amazing. The food is so delicious. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very personalable. Everyone cartered to us. You would have thought we were the Obamas or something. As we were stuffing our faces, Claudia comes around handing out roses to the men/boys to give to their dates. Complimenting my son and his daper outfit she hands him a rose and tells him to give it your mommy. At the moment he lights up with a big smile as if he paid for the rose himself. I can tell he felt like a gentleman and good that he could give his mother a red rose on Valentine's day. That small gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. I apologize for my essay, but they desired it. I love the service, the ambiance, the food, and service. I haven't seen my mother smile so much in a while. So it bought me great joy to give my mother this experience on Valentine's day. I thank Nonna Angela's staff for such a wonderful experience.

I was planning a tea party and knew I needed a wow factor for the party. I decided from all of the lovely pictures I saw on IG that this bakery had to bake some specialty cookies for me. I contacted the bakery to place an order. The owner was extremely professional and wanted to make sure my vision came to life. We discussed via email what I wanted and I even shared a few pictures that would assist in the decorating aspect. I made an initial deposit to proceed with the order. In the mean and between time before the party, I decided I should probably taste their goodies. I went to the Crofton Farmers Market, where SBL usually is a vendor. I ordered a few cupcakes and decorated cookies. Whew! They were all excellent! I knew I had chosen the right bakery for my specialty cookies. Side Note: they have a chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake that's to DIE FOR! On the day of the tea party, I stopped by the business to pick up my treats. Fun cake pops, chocolate chip and sugar cookies were all in my order. SBL is a home based bakery, so I picked my order up from the family home. The woman that met me at the door was so nice. Just a pleasant encounter from start to finish. The cookies themselves were absolutely perfect! My vision came to life! They not only looked beautiful, they were very delish! I'm going to be honest, the cookies were so pretty, I didn't want to eat them. Especially the wedding gown one. (Wink) Supporting home based bakers, like SBL is very rewarding. I just find them to be more personable and willing to go the extra mile. I'm already planning to make another specialty order in the future.

Pretty good variety. There's coffee and non-coffee options. Unfortunately for me, they ran out out of chai by the time I ordered. In terms of food, there are sweet and savory baked goods. For croissants, I saw the ham and cheese; chocolate filled croissants, bagels, and other sweet and savory pastries. Later in the day, there appear to be more meal options, like sandwiches and such. - Quality. My matcha latte was pretty good. I asked for no sweetener, so the flavor of the latte was the simple matcha flavor, which I really liked. They warmed up my croissant, which helped, because it was soft. The croissant was not too salty and it had a nice flavor. - Service. Their staff appear to be on top of things. They're very nice and answered my questions. I did not wait very long for my order and it looked like everyone's order was handled smoothly and efficiently. - Price. The ham and cheese croissant was approximately $6 and my 20oz matcha latte was approximately $6. The balance came out to approximately $13. For the quality and portion size, it's pretty good value for money. - Layout. Very accommodating. There are a few bar stools at a counter near the front of the shop, several tables that seat 4 people, and a couple of couches towards the back with a coffee table in between. There is also a child size table with a couple of child size seats at the back, as well. This place appears to be popular, so be aware of the time you come here if you plan on dining in. Originally, I was hoping to snag the couches for myself and my group, but those were already taken by the time I arrived. Their bathroom accommodates physical handicaps and is a very good size. Everything inside was clean and organized. - Location. Conveniently located in a plaza with other shops and restaurants. Good size parking lot for the plaza. What's Not - No non-dairy options. I asked if my matcha latte could be made with soy milk, and their staffer responded that they only have 1% milk or whole milk. It's a little frustrating that there aren't non-dairy options, but to each their own. Just be aware. - Quality. My ham and cheese croissant was good, but it did not have as much cheese as I was hoping. I like my baked goods to have a good amount of filling. Their ham and cheese croissant was somewhat lacking. Good flavor, but not filling, so be aware. Final Answer Am willing to come back, but perhaps not a first choice.

Unfamiliar with the area, I jumped on yelp and found The Farmhouse with its 4.4 star rating. So there we went. The Waugh Chapel area is a giant shopping center. Wegmans, Old Navy, Verizon, etc. The Farmhouse is in a new building near the man road. Their whole thing is farm to fork, with some herbs and greens grown on site and others sourced locally. The service is great! Fast and friendly. Instead of bread or rolls, they warm you up with some country style homemade cornbread. Freshly baked, cast iron skillet, with butter and syrup. Yum! We had the meatloaf and the chicken and chicken and biscuits. The meatloaf was tasty, with homemade mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked fresh green beans. The chicken and biscuits is kind of like a chicken pot pie without the crust. The biscuits are on top so you can decide how much bread you want. The vegetables are nice and fresh, and the chicken is perfect white meat. A++ on both entrees. For dessert we had half-baked, which is an ooey gooey cookie and a brownie in a cast iron skillet topped with ice cream. We liked it, but next time I'll probably have just ice cream because the ice cream was absolutely perfect. Where are you? Stevensville? Baltimore? Solomon's? Alexandria? DC? You should make the drive to Waugh Chapel Station and get some fresh, delicious, better- than-home-cooked food.

When we arrived, our table appeared to be ready right at our reservation time, but we still had to wait to be seated. It wasn't a long delay, but it was a bit confusing and felt like a service issue. The ambience is beautiful and well done, and the bathrooms were clean. The food itself was solid across the board, and the chicken and biscuit was actually even better the next day as leftovers. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest drawback. Refills only happened when we asked, and splitting checks for a large group was more difficult than expected. At one point when a correction was needed, a member of our party noticed the server visibly rolling her eyes, which didn't help the experience. Drinks are also served by the can rather than fountain style, which made them feel overpriced without refills. For a place that presents as upscale, the experience shouldn't feel nickel-and-dimed. Overall, nice atmosphere and good food, but the service needs improvement before I'd consider returning.
