After receiving a recommendation, I visited Julie Branstetter and was not disappointed. It was great to have someone listen to what I wanted in a cut and color and suggest what works best for me, from a personality fit to the most flattering for my face shape. Julie is fantastic! She carefully colors, cuts, and styles my hair rather than rushing through it - every time. Julie has a great sense of style, is kind, witty, fun, incredibly talented, and gives the right professional advice. If you are looking for a great salon with a stylist offering a personal touch, see Julie at the very energetic Hair Studio of Leland.

First pic is what I wanted, second was what they did…read more I'm not thrilled about my experience and have shed a tear or two over my hair the past couple weeks. I wanted like a natural balayage type highlights which I don't think this place is very skilled in (highlights I mean) and I basically feel like I just spent over 100 dollars for someone to turn all my hair brown, which I could have done myself for much cheaper. The Pinterest picture is the one I showed her. The other is what she did. Not even close. Honestly, just wanting to be done with the place I just left and didn't say a word about being unhappy but I'm literally in tears as I write this review. I went in initially for a balayage type of highlight on my dark brown hair. I showed Bailey a picture of exactly how I wanted it. I left the salon with half my hair more blonde than the other and with almost white streaky highlights it made me look like I had gray hairs( I'm 26). I told her I wasn't happy and went in a second time to get it fixed. I basically just wanted the other half of my hair to be slightly more blonde to match the other side. Just evened out so my ride side and left side match and just darken my highlights slightly. She basically dyed all my hair back to brown. She toned it so dark that you barely see highlight at all. I could have done that for $5 with a drugstore box of hair color. Again, at this point my hair is so processed I'm leaving it be but I would not suggest this place if you're looking to get highlights done.

I left the salon looking fine, as she styled it in a way that made this less obvious but as I started to style it at home, I realized this wasn't normal. Tried to contact the salon a few times -- just to ask for a discount. I got a color, which turned out fine, but I didn't want to pay for the cut for obvious reasons. Never heard back. So I disputed it through my credit card company, to which Stylist declined even after submitting pictures. I figured this was an isolated incident and I didn't want to leave a review and potentially harm the employees here but the poor/lack of response has prompted me to ensure that no one else has to go through this.

Not to mention being in a luxurious environment, feeling like a celebrity getting magazines and beverages handed to you left and right. If you're nodding your head like, "Yes, Dani, Preach!" then you should check out Golden Salon & Dry Bar. A colleague at work recommend I check this place out one morning when I got to the office. The second I saw their pictures I booked an appointment and was on my way by 1pm. Now, the thought of dying my hair freaks me out because I have super fine hair that grows very slowly and I love it's natural color. During Winter though, blondes I know you can relate, my hair goes a little on the darker side because I'm not getting enough sun. So I asked my stylist, Krystal, what she thought the best thing to do was and set me up with a non-bleach balayage style, lightening service. In non-fancy terms, it's a natural way of not killing your hair and lightening it in an evenly layered process. I love how far we've come with salon techniques in the world! Krystal was very gentle, a great conversationist. She listened to all my worries about my lack of trust for hair salons and made me overcome those fears by proving the right way to do it. I left with my naturally blonde hair, a little "more sun-kissed," softer, healthier and feeling like a rockstar. She gave me waters and tea, magazines and time alone to close my eyes and breathe. I loved it! I talked with the owner and a couple other stylists on my way out and all were very kind and genuinely helpful with tips. I would definitely recommend this salon on all levels! They have tons of parking and are located right next to a wide variety of restaurants, a movie theatre, and a Starbucks. Great one stop shop to prep with your girls for a date night and/or movie with friends!

If I could give Sean Clay ZERO stars, I would. I asked him politely (via text message) to please add a few more highlights and a toner to my hair, as one side looked different (lots more highlights and very yellow/brassy) than the other side (it was so noticeable that even my son's babysitter asked me about it). In response, he tells me that I looked like a disaster when I came to him (which was extremely rude and not even true). Then he tells me that his first appointment isn't for another six weeks. I politely responded that I was simply requesting a minimal correction, which was common courtesy in his profession. He responded by saying "good bye" and "you're blocked"!?! He also left me a scathing (and insane) voice message while I was feeding my toddler. I tried calling him back but he wouldn't respond. I'm honestly in shock right now. This man is in his 50s and claims to have been doing hair for decades. How he thinks he can treat people this way and still have clients is unfathomable to me. Oh, and he charged me $200 (would only accept cash) to do my hair at his house (which reaks of tobacco smoke) for this hair disaster that I'm going to have to pay someone else to fix for me. Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS!!! (I've posted the text messages to prove what an insane jerk this guy is.)
