We cannot recommend EDF Painting enough! They did an excellent job inside and out! They painted all the rooms, doors and replaced most of the baseboards in the house. In the kitchen, had to remove tile all the way around the kitchen that did not match the countertops and you can't tell it was ever there! They also did repairs and painting outside the house which also came out beautiful! They are quick, thorough and reliable and very easy to work with. I would NOT recommend working with this couple. It has been a nightmare from the beginning. I have been renovating my house for 2 years now and have had dozens of contractors to work with - have never had a single problem with any of them, ever. I do not usually write reviews unless the situation is extreme. Sadly, this is one of those cases. To be clear, they never started work on my home, we didn't have a date set to start. The entire dispute is over the changes Alex made to what he promised for the price he gave to paint the interior of my home. First he told me that he could do everything I wanted for one particular price. The next time I talked to him he said, "oh the ceiling is not included" (even though I have a text message from him saying it was). The next time I talked to him for clarification, suddenly something else he had mentioned before was now "not included" either. This happened three times and finally I asked to just not go forward because he had changed what he promised so many times that I didn't even know what I would get if I had him start the job! No clarity, minimal wording in the email of what the job included and then multiple texts contradicting one another as to what was included and what wasn't. SO unprofessional. Then Norma comes into my home with an attitude as if she's going to fix anything that way. She was very defensive when I explained to her what I had been promised and that I had the text messages from Alex with all of the conflicting promises he made. It blows my mind that they run their business this way. Do not give these people any of your money before you get something very, very clear in writing - it was my mistake for having trust in Alex. I am still out $500 after waiting 9 weeks for my $1,000 deposit to be returned. I just barely got $500 of it back last week after being promised over and over again that my refund was coming. I have a text from Alex saying that he had not purchased the paint yet, but a few days later when Norma came over, she suddenly claimed they spent my $1,000 on paint and supplies and would have to wait for their refund from the store. So dishonest to have spent my money before they even started my job or bought my supplies and then try to give multiple excuses to delay ever giving the money back. I'm annoyed that I have to go through the trouble of taking them to small claims court, but I really did give them every single opportunity to make things right. I have been more than patient and they have given me the run around for way too long. The last thing I'll say is that when I got a recommendation for a new painter, come to find out that EVERYTHING I need is included AND the price is $1,000 cheaper than what I was quoted by Alex. Shop around and do your diligence. Don't just take someone's word for these guys or you might end up like I did. Amended following owner's response: 1. Of course, this is my "side of the story" that is what a review means. 2. "how were we supposed to start?" There was never a complaint of when you were starting. I simply stated that you did not start the job to clarify that my deposit was requested before you ever started. Alex came to our home and saw the major construction of the wall the first time he arrived. He was aware that we had to await the city's approval and inspection. I have multiple text messages from Alex saying that it was "no problem" and "just let me know when your inspection is done and we'll start" 3. I never threatened to take you to court. I told a friend of mine that it was sad that I was going to have to take you to court and he said "I know them, let me talk to them before you file". I waited as a courtesy to him and ended up giving you two more weeks of jerking me around with "oh, my Zelle isn't working", oh, we were busy, I couldn't go to the bank", "oh, I sent it but the bank didn't approve it so I'll send half", etc. etc. etc. 4. Yes, I am an attorney, but that has nothing to do with small claims court. I am licensed with the CA Bar Association. I do not currently practice law, I work for an insurance company. Therefore, I do not need my license to be active. I'm sorry your attorney mislead you and told you I was lying about being a lawyer. You might want to check the business license website though, it looks like you have some deficiencies there yourself (sadly I had to go to the licensing website to get an address since they wouldn't give me an address to file the court papers). Secondly, your attorney must also not have told you that all of your text messages to me stating that you will return my deposit, and that you will return my deposit on August 16th and that you are going to give it to me this Friday, etc. Those are all called "promises to pay". In CA text messages with a promise to pay are legally binding. Maybe see if you can get your friends and family members to write more of the fake reviews for you to outweigh mine - since mine doesn't bother you. read more

We had been on the hunt for a painter for the interior of our home. We saw EDF's truck in the driveway of a house in our neighborhood. My husband stopped and got details from the painter, Alex, and inspected the house he was painting. Alex and his wife Norma scheduled an appointment to see our house and get an idea of what we wanted painted. We promptly had an estimate from them and it was reasonable, plus they were personable and seemed eager to start the job, so we contracted with them. They had us go to Sherwin Williams to get samples and choose our colors. Alex arrived as agreed and he carefully taped the kitchen, where he would start. He was so meticulous not to get paint on any surfaces we weren't getting painted as well as carefully moving furniture and decor items out of the way, we were already impressed. Alex was very neat and genuinely seemed to care as much about our house as we did. As the job progressed, we kept adding to the scope of work and his wife, Norma, was careful to keep us advised about the additional cost. They were painting another neighbor's home as well and were great at juggling the two jobs. We had our shower redone and there was much more for them to repair and paint than we had understood the shower installers were leaving. Alex looked at the mess they had left and assured us he could fix it neatly and quickly. He completed the bathroom quickly and efficiently for the reasonable cost we had agreed on. Alex was here every day before we even expected him to be. He used that time to ready his supplies and even straightened the garage and blew leaves in the yard. The company is family owned and operated and they were a joy to have in the house, because they were so personable and really cared about the work. We would gladly recommend them to others and we would definitely have them do any other paint jobs we have in the future. The neighbor who was having Alex work in his home is also pleased with the quality of their work. We highly recommend EDF Painting because of the beautiful job and the "above and beyond" help they gave us in getting our furniture and accessories repositioned. read more

We first got an estimate with EDF Painting back in February before Covid hit. We were impressed with what we saw of the company online but we knew we had to wait. I contacted Alex in September to follow up with our previous discussion and he remembered us and remembered our kitchen painting job that he was going to do and we secured the date and he started within a couple weeks. Alex came over to take a look at the kitchen again take some notes and discussed when he would proceed and everything was like clockwork. Now our particular kitchen is very large one of the largest he has seen. Alex is the consummate professional; clean polite he was safe at all times we felt very comfortable having them in our home. I knew that the pictures we had seen of his previous jobs were impressive but I didn't know how professional he actually was in executing his work. Extremely polite on time every day when he said he would be here he cleaned everything up before he left. It took about eight days to get the job done the kitchen was sealed off when the masking and spraying of the cabinet frames needed to be done. Now to the best part I can honestly say that the product he turned our cabinets Into is something that I couldn't believe was possible.The finish that he was able to put on our cabinet doors have to be seen and felt to really appreciate. it is smooth and clean not a drop anywhere no runs they are perfect they are better than factory. There was not one issue that we found that needed any kind of correction. I cannot say enough about Alex and EDF Painting, he is the kindest person very polite a true professional and an artist. My wife and I were looking to hire a painter to paint the rooms with cathedral ceilings in our home. We realized that it was a rather small job but couldn't do it ourselves. I made an appointment with EDF Painting for them to come out to give us an estimate. They didn't make the appointment and I didn't hear from them until after the appointment time had passed, when we were notified they would not be coming that day. We rescheduled for the next day which Alex did show up and he gave us a bid which we accepted. We were supplying the paint due to us painting other rooms in the house. Alex showed up without and tape, plastic, rollers etc saying we were to supply all supplies. After talking to Norma I agreed to pay for the supplies and She agreed that Alex would come back the next morning to do the painting. My wife let Norma know that our neighbor had given us a roll of plastic so they wouldn't need to purchase any plastic. MY wife and I were very happy to be getting this job finally done. BUT to our surprise we received a Text message that afternoon from Norma informing us of their decision not to do the job. This put us in a huge bind.
