We will definitely make this part of our regular grocery shopping. This is the beginning of the season, which means that many food items are just now becoming available. In spite of this, we were impressed by the selection of herbs and vegetables as we strolled through the modern and well-maintained greenhouses. I picked up some fresh-off-the-vine kale/mustard leaves/radishes. The kale is one of three varieties this season, the mustard leaves are very spicy and I have yet to try the radishes. I am looking forward to some of the other plants I saw growing, like purple carrots (not the ubiquitous, man-made orange variety in grocery stores), onions, tomatoes, etc. Beyond the vegetables, the main building has fresh eggs (chicken and duck), humanely raised meats and plenty of other things we will be trying. The meat and egg prices seem a bit higher than grocery stores, but I think the quality is probably superior and the money stays local, which I prefer. You also get a small discount for bringing back egg cartons, whether they are from the Broad Run or not. The farm itself is just a beautiful, relaxing setting. There is a pond as well as many flowers and animals to admire.

I even called that day and was told the order was on the truck and out for delivery. Another day passed. On the third day I called and asked what was going on. They said they would call me back with an answer. Nobody called back. That afternoon I called a third time to explain I had taken off work to coordinate. They couldn't tell me what was going on. I asked to speak to someone in charge. They transferred me to an unnamed voicemail. Nobody ever called. No mulch was ever delivered. I asked to cancel the order, but they didn't refund the payment. I had to call my bank to reverse the charge.

My contractors who lay mulch for living told me there is no way that's 25 cubic yards of mulch. It's about 10 yards short, that's $400 short. I ordered enough mulch to have 3 inches mulch to cover the garden beds, I ended up with covering the garden beds for like less than 2 inches of mulch. I called JK landscape about the problem, they insisted that they weighed and measured the mulch before shipping. But there is no way for me to argue with them as I can't prove it's 10 yards short. They give a $75 refund for shipping. But I will not order anything from this place in the future.

So, he offered to let me take the 3 plants we picked out to my home (without a need to pay for them first, mind you) and said, "If they didn't work out to just bring them back or, if they do, call me and pay by C.C. over the phone." Well, they did work out and, because of the customer service, I ended up returning to the store to buy 3 more because they looked good for what I needed.
