The supply room had paper towels for the bathrooms and supplies. Weekend rental is an extra $$ compared to weekdays. They do give you an extra hour for clean up. We rented from 11-3 (4pm with free extra hour for clean up) and the cost was around $450ish. Pretty good for indoor space! One thing is the front door is not open and looks closed. Many of our caterers could not find this place. No clear signage to go to the parking lot for entrance.

We did the 4.5-mile overlook loop. There were a few sections that were a bit steep, but overall it's a fairly easy hike with mostly flat terrain. There's a lot of greenery throughout, and the creek adds a really nice touch. It's a really scenic and peaceful setting. It took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete. We went on a cloudy day, which ended up being perfect for the hike. Overall, it's a beautiful, well-kept trail and definitely worth checking out.

We walked up to the check-in desk, provided our info, and were given instructions, star maps, and red lenses for our phones. We then walked to Mahnita Boyden-Wofford Amphitheater (a large cement amphitheater) and found seats facing the volunteer ranger presenting the night's info. Unfortunately, it was a bit too foggy to see much. The volunteer ranger (John Walsh) answered questions and explained differences between various stars, meteors, satellites and sky debris. Occasionally, the sky would open up for us to see a few stars. We did get to see the summer triangle and a satellite though. It was a good learning experience and I hope to do more in the future on a clear night. Tip: apparently it's tarrantula season so watch your step.

Some very good climbs here and they have the same concept of climb over walls and one slab wall. I enjoyed all of it. This is a bare bones facility and the locker room pretty tiny but it has everything you need. There is a weight/exercise area right next to the bouldering walls, no treadmills here. Staff very nice and lots of parking available. It seemed they had the air con on but it was still so hot in the gym. I turned on a big fan they had, that helped a lot! I'd definitely come back to this gym again. I like the not having to share bouldering with others because I can really focus and practice as much as I like.

I prefer Woodland Park pool simply because it's closer to my house and there's more shade, but Las Posas still earns 5 stars!

Unfortunately, we have noticed that staff members, including one of our favorite instructors have left and are planning on leaving their employment at this location. I have learned that this is not because of the job itself, but because of the conduct and behavior of the owner whom I shall refer to as "B" "B" does not seem to value his staff in the way we, the customers, do. It is my understanding that he is often rude, dismissive, abrupt, and insensitive to staff. I have also learned that there is hardly a staff member at the school that has not been brought to tears by the words of 'B" I have personally observed some of his interactions with staff, and was horrified that they would be spoken to in the manner that he did. This type of business relies on their staff, specifically their teachers. Without them, there is no business. I am quite concerned that there will be a continued turnover, which will have a direct negative impact on the students at the school, including my son. I know that this is a family owned and operated business. I have great respect for the Callan family. Unfortunately "B" is risking their good reputation, and I truly hope someone in the family business can step in and change the course such that the staff be treated as they deserve. I know that many families, mine included, will follow our child's instructor if they should leave this location. This 5 star rating is only because of the employees.

I do not recommend using Callan for kids under 3. We brought our almost 2 year old and it wasn't…read morethe best experience. First, they might pair your kid with another older kid (that already knows how to swim but spends more time with them) or extremely younger like a 1 year or younger (which requires more time and attention) and you split your 20 minutes, so you really get 10 minutes but they always end about 2-3 minutes early. You are responsible for your toddler when the teacher is teaching the other kid. They just leave the toddler on the steps and say it's your responsibility to watch them. My son almost fell off the steps, would have drowned. So be prepare to get into the water. They include in their contract that it's your responsibility even though you pay for them to teach. Or wait awhile for them to be done with the other kid. Second, they start on time and end it 2-3 minutes early, with a break after each go. So swim time is like 7-8 minutes. Older kids get more water time if paired up with them. They get to swim the whole pool while toddlers get like less than 1 minute. Third, they are extremely inflexible if you have to miss one class. You can't just reschedule with a set date, they make you call the day before to find any time available the next day only and it could be 10am or 5 pm, but who knows. I would imagine they have their schedules out already a week in advance! But no. The front lady is extremely difficult and hard headed regarding rescheduling. Also, I don't know if they have certain milestones for toddlers, but just teaching them to be comfortable in water. No like learning to hold your breath under water or floating or swimming to safety. Some teachers are better and spend more time with your kid, no consistency. What a waste of money and time for toddlers. Never coming back.

There was a pretty intense drop off about half way down the sand so it limited space for people to put down their stuff and lay out. I'm not sure how normal it is at this spot but there was a TON of rocks. It was way too much to be able to enter the water without having them beating your feet and ankles. My friend was bleeding after trying to check out the water. The surf was also a little intense that day so I'm wondering if that had any effect on the rock situation? This was a very clean beach with restrooms at the bottom of the ramp from the street so it did have that going for it but we decided to leave and head for a beach where we could safely go into the water that day. I'll have to come back another time to get a better idea.

The Recreation Hall can hold up to 85 guests. They offered the tables and chairs at no additional cost. The facility was clean and easy to get to, located right off the 5 freeway. Small parking lot, but there is close by street parking available. It is just a few blocks down from all the shopping and cool eateries in Carlsbad Village and the Beach. You have to get permits if you want to serve alcohol. Rental prices seem reasonable with published rates at around $60. They offer discounts if you are a resident or a local non-profit organization. Good place for meetings, or small weddings.
