Dr. A loves her kids. She has a great demeanor with them. She just loves to joke in general which makes her easy for parents to deal with too. The woman who is the head nurse/office manager - whatever her title is - has been there for years. I consider a consistent office staff a sign that a medical practice is well run. The office has both a sick and well waiting room. The sick room has an intercom so you can let the staff know you're there. That intercom is barely necessary. The staff is so attentive that they'll just notice you come in and since this is a small, solo practice they'll probably recognize you so you don't even have to announce yourself. We have always been able to get in the same day when the kids are sick, but in general the office hours are what I consider "normal" working hours so you'll probably have to miss part of the workday to bring your kid in. (But that's not exactly unique here.) All in all, I feel like we usually get excellent care here. The only thing that kept me from giving Dr. A five stars is a lack of breastfeeding support. I know from talking to her that she breastfed her own kids yet she tends to suggest formula as the lone "solution" to breastfeeding issues. By all means, do what you must to take care of your baby and yourself. However, if you are really dedicated to having a successful, long-term nursing relationship, you will need far more support than you will get in this office. But as long as you know where else you can go (LLL groups, iblce.org, Kangaroo Kids - just to name a few) to get good breastfeeding supportive advice, I still recommend Dr. A overall. read more
