I was told the doctor would not see my child since I had a vaccine exemption for my child (my…read morechild was vaccine injured and doctor was told). This is because, we now know, the doctors are all paid more if they have 100% compliance for vaccinations for all their patients. Recently at a congressional hearing we found out that pediatricians are being paid by the HMO insurance companies for vaccinating kids. Payment is $200-$600 per child. Many pediatricians making $1 million a year just for vaccinating kids. Practices must keep a certain percentage of patients at 100% vaccination rate to qualify for the payments. Pediatricians stop seeing kids as patients whose parents refuse vaccinations. This is not about health. It's about doctors and insurance companies making millions and billions per year each. It was crushing. My child's former pediatrician who assisted with the getting the exemption due to what he termed 'adverse reaction' and the exemption was granted, retired and moved out of state. He even called them but they would not honor his calling to talk to the new prospective doctor. They are monsters there.

We also got great recommendations about their other doctors, too. I like that Dr. Shilpa is relatable (she seems to be around our age with a young kiddo as well) and she takes time to answer all of my questions (I come almost every time with a list of questions on my phone). She is patient in sharing her expertise and has a kind way of interacting with my child. Now after the birth of our second baby, Dr. Shilpa sees both kiddos. I like that the exchange is very accessible and easy to use. We've called many times during off hours to reach a nurse from Children's hospital. They'll either answer our questions immediately or they'll contact the on call pediatrician and then call us back. It's pretty straightforward to schedule a sick visit the same day, though if you call right at 8:30 when their phone lines open, you might have to wait on hold for a few minutes. The nurses and other staff are usually very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend Southwest Pediatrics and especially Dr. Shilpa to anyone looking for a pediatrician in south city!

I went in to Dale Avenue for the 2nd half of baby's flu shot and was told they had canceled his appointment because his records were sent elsewhere. They never even told me this appointment was canceled and he's not a patient anywhere else currently (his records are being "reviewed"). So they are telling me he has no pediatrician. He should go to the health department for his other flu vaccine (um, they refer you to Walgreens for those and Walgreens is 3+). And if he gets sick next week??! What the actual hell. Update - still not too impressed with this place. As we've been in the lobby for 45 min waiting with a baby. I don't know why doctor offices are like this, especially ones that deal with young kids. It's extremely frustrating. I think it's time to look elsewhere. I brought my newborn in for his first appointment and waited AN HOUR for the doctor with him naked (and angry). I don't know if they had a mix up with the appointment time or of this is normal but I was outraged. To follow, Dr. O'Grady was very unlikeable. She was not relatable, seemed not present mentally, and not friendly. I wanted to love this all women practice and my baby's first appointment but I was so upset with the outcome. I may try another doctor or just move somewhere else. The office is quite lovely, however.

Dr. Stahl calmed a lot of my first-time-mom fears, she is amazing! She is very evidence based in everything she says and recommends, and also VERY respectful of any parent decision. I will be bringing all my future kids here until they're too old, highly recommended it!!

We love The Children's Clinic!…read more When we first started our search for a Pediatrician, we felt overwhelmed by the options. We were referred to Dr. Plax by 2 sets of friends. When we first called to see if he was accepting new patients, the receptionist said he would personally call us to schedule a meeting. We ended up meeting him at the clinic on a Thursday evening at 6PM. We were elated that he offered to meet us in-person before we made our decision, especially at the end of his work day. He sat with us for 20 minutes and answered all of our questions and eased our concerns. We knew after that meeting that he was definitely going to be our baby's pediatrician! His level of care and concern was something we never expected from a doctor. We were blown away! Every visit thereafter has been so great. He is a very calming doctor who eases all of our concerns and never makes us feel crazy for asking questions. He really knows his stuff. He comes from a family of pediatricians so it's apparent he has passion for what he does! We have never had any problems being seen right away when our baby has been sick which has also been very nice. I had some concerns about my baby so Dr. Plax called me to talk about it. He was then able to see us the next morning! I could go on and on about Children's Clinic and Dr. Plax's care. Highly recommend!

There was a several week period where they had to "review records" before I could schedule an appointment or bring in a sick child. The other office had already "dumped" us because the records were transferred. This left us without a pediatrician for a while, all while needing the second dose of a flu shot. This office told me to take him to the Health Department (um, first off they don't even give vaccines in the City other than Monkeypox and second, everywhere they referred me to did not do babies!) My baby was finally "accepted", after they reviewed his typical shots I guess, and we came in for an ear check. It took TWO 15 MIN calls to even make an appointment. The staff that answers the phone was very rude as well. Upon arrival, there are three doors you can use. I used the one that said "well visit" and listed ear ache. After going in, they tell me I'm in the wrong place and need to use the sick door. Ugh, then why list ear ache?? The wait time is minimal, it went very quickly, and I really liked the doctor, but the difficulty in making an appointment is something I don't want to deal with on a regular basis. It's also a HUGE office. I already transferred out.
