Cuneo-Columbian Funeral Home - That is the door to Funeral Parlor B

Cuneo-Columbian Funeral Home

(8 reviews)

When I was dealing with this funeral home to bury my cousin Frank in December it was a nightmare. I…read morewould spend hours attempting to get in touch with the owner or anyone at the Funeral Home in order to get questions answered and clothing dropped off. I would go there and sit outside and no one would be there. This happened repeatedly to both myself and my brother. He had attempted to go to the Funeral Home deliver the check for the funeral services. But instead he found it abandoned with just dogs walking around and a door left open. We had finally arranged for him to be buried on the 21st. However, their hearse not start. And we went off to the cemetery to meet the priest and family members. There we were to wait for the body to arrive after they got the car started. However they never showed and I was emailed by Gina Lewis the owner who said we don't leave because you did not pay. She knew we had the check with us but we were sent ahead to the cemetery. I sent other cousin back to the funeral home to give them the check which had been renting out since the 14th of December. However what he got there the only one there was the tow truck driver who was still waiting for the driver to return with cash to pay for the jump. No one ever return back to the funeral home and the police had to be called for lack of payment to the tow truck driver. I made another set of Arrangements again with Gina Lewis the b u r y Frank on December 24th. Christmas Eve. She told us someone would be at the funeral home and we would drive to the cemetery. I waited there with my cousin and my elderly mother 4 hours and no one showed again I could not get in touch with her and was once again blown off by the owner. I contacted the police and let them know that the funeral home was holding the body of my cousin and not releasing it even though we were attempting to keep giving them the check but no one would ever be around. My cousin Frank was finally lead to rest on December 27th. His daughter missed the funeral and the stress that it's caused for his family has been heartbreaking. In addition I need to say the condition of the funeral home was appalling. It's hard to believe that this is actually a funeral home. The filth are the carpets which have not been clean and I would have to say well over a year. Dog stains, clothes strewn around parlor B. Is somebody living there is it being used for something other then funeral services? Who belongs to all those clothes? Is it close of deceased or is it just friends of the owner. It looks like a place people like to crash in party not like a place of respect for the Dead. The business practices are very questionable and should be investigated.

I received your call on December 29 that my daughter was about to be incubated at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago and at that moment I packed a bag and drove to Chicago and stayed until her passing on April 13, 2026 after Brittany was treated at Northwestern and rarely there was nothing more that could be done she had encephalitis and lymphoma cancer so for four months she fought a hard long battle . My daughter was transferred to Kindred North Hospital investigation, and only lasted a a few days there before she passed and when the time did come I contacted Doug originally and he said just call us when it happens and we'll pick her up and we'll deal with the money and everything later.. actually I couldn't call, but my cousin did make the phone call and then later after she passed, I was able to go online and complete all the pertinent information but he was very professional and when I did pick up the Urns he made it a priority to come out and meet me and offer his condolences very professional service. The only complaint I had was the lady who took care of us seemed a bit cold, but I guess in that type of business you become cold well perhaps that happened to her she didn't offer condolences nothing just let's get this business over with. If I asked a question she didn't know she didn't even try to find answer.I Again I am horrible with names, but this young lady was very compassionate and helpful I was unsure if I was going to be able to drive back to Tennessee or have to fly and she provided me with a free box to ship the urn. irregardless if I ever had to use them again, I would. I live in Tennessee so it's not going to happen, but that was my only daughter who died at age 29. Doug, appreciate your outstanding service and your personal effect on your company. I mean job well done..

She went above and beyond for our family. She listened, gave options, was honest, understanding, compassionate, and thoughtful. I was impressed by the personal treatment that she gave to my daughter. Stacy valued my daughters input and made her feel appreciated in the whole planning process. Stacy made herself available any time during for any questions, concerns, requests, that we had. When we walked into the funeral home, it gave you a very home like feeling, not depressing more inviting, and it smelled fresh. They have the room for the viewing, a back room for refreshments. I made a video to play of pictures that was easily hooked up to the TV from my Mac and Spotify playlist to be played during the visitation. The whole establishment was spotless from the parking lot to the bathrooms. As I look back, Riverwoods was absolutely 100% the right choice and would not go anyplace else. I would recommend Riverwoods to anyone that might need these services. I was very pleased with the operations of this establishment. They went above and beyond for my family. They are genuinely good and caring people, they take the time to help during extremely difficult times. Stacy was an angel of compassion at a time when I physically and mentally exhausted and was in desperate need of a helping hand. I'm extremely grateful for everything they have done and can't thank them enough for being there for my family.
