His cost estimates are thorough and transparent, not to mention competitive. The crew are uniformly courteous, on time, and respectful of imposing in our home. I've had other contractors who were craftsmen and artists, but frankly they were all temperamental jerks who aren't worth my time. Emerson gets the project 90-95% right, and 100% on the hard parts- scheduling, pricing, transparency, and most critically- sticking around until everything is done.

They did a terrific tiling job on the wall. They creatively problem solved to successfully integrate the cabinets with an irregular wall indentation. The work site was kept clean throughout, and removed the debris. I love the outcome - it's a beautiful, working kitchen. Roca Mia worked started working before the COVID-19 state wide shutdown, but took care to provide me with a working kitchen before we locked down, and picked up the work again when we reopened at the appropriate phase. They complied with all the paperwork required by the co-op board and management company including the additional pandemic related safety plans. Communication & logistics planning throughout was excellent, and they were a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend them.

Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. I have solar panels and an HVAC system yet I am paying $900+ in energy bills from Con Edison! I called Con Edison and they informed me that I have not been receiving g my energy credits. I have been trying to reach out to Kamtech and they haven't even bothered to reach out to me. Totally disgraceful! They should compensate me for the 3 months my panels were not producing any energy! Egor has reached out and we managed to come to an acceptable solution. He was very patient and took the time to explain certain issues that I was not aware of. Not only that, but they also compensated me towards the cost of my energy utility bill. Thank you very much for taking the time answer my questions and help steer me towards a satisfactory resolution.

This gives me some more confidence than what other reviews have provided. As original installer of a Sunpower system, Kamtech should cover labor costs in addition to the lifetime warranty of panels & inverters per agreement. We will see how this works out.

They've done smaller scale plumbing, electrical, moved and converted a door (including the framing, advice on conversion to a pocket door, drywall, finish), extended a roof and did the gutter, fixed an improperly installed sink, installed a murphy bed, hung a large screen and blackboard, ... At this point it's hard to remember what all they've done. We like that they will be thoughtful of our needs and come up with ideas we did not think of ourselves. Examples: While fixing and reinforcing a roof access they advised us on adding a lock to the hatch to make sure that nobody can get in from the outside. While removing a wall and moving the related electrical they rerouted one of the outlets into the cellar which is missing enough outlets.

No reply. I finally hired a new HVAC contractor and within 3 minutes of Looking at the system, they told be it was designed and installed incorrectly. Which makes sense as to why it never worked right and why Alama stopped returning my messages. I would never post a negative review, but Alamas negligence cost me a lot of money and wasted time.
