Our room itself was clean and the kids were happy that they had their own bed. Overall, it was quiet and a nice place for rest after a long day at the park. The breakfast was well stocked, and there was ample parking.

About 3 weeks ago, Cedar Point let its hotel guests know that they would be closing their hotels on Monday and Tuesday nights. This meant that our booking of Sunday night through Tuesday would be half invalid. I was scrambling to find us a hotel in the area that wasn't insanely priced or disgustingly gross. I found this Hampton Inn and the price was great - we paid $250 total for 2 nights. The hotel is about 20 minutes from Cedar Point, which isn't terrible at all for the price that we paid. I checked in online the day before and our room was ready at my selected check-in time. We arrived about 15-20 minutes before that time, so that was on us. Receptionist was super nice and helpful. She was also very nice the next morning when I came down to ask about the breakfast boxes. Breakfast boxes consisted of a yogurt, mini bagel, and two hard-boiled eggs. Not the best breakfast - but for a free box, it was fine. Coffee is served 24/7 in the lobby. Pool is open until 11pm and had a hot tub that was absolutely fantastic after a long 7 hour drive. Main pool was a bit cold, but we made do. The room was extremely clean - they had the sticker to indicate that the room had been cleaned and sanitized. Room came fully stocked with toiletries - including shower cap and cotton swabs. They aren't doing housekeeping during the stay, so if you need anything you can just ask the front desk. Beds were comfortable and came with a heavy comforter, which was very nice. Pillows were actually not bad. All in all, I had a great stay and will definitely be keeping my eye out for Hampton Inn's in the future.

We stayed at this location for five days, four nights…read more Pool: We only used the pool our first two days. The hot tub water was not hot, and there were no visible controls to heat it. The main pool was very cold, and the water was cloudy -- some kids had brought "diving" toys, and had to find them with their feet because they couldn't see through the water! The people at the front desk assured us it was still clean water, but it did not look good. On the third day of our stay, we went to the pool area again. My son walked over to the hot tub, and saw some ... disgustingness ... at the bottom. I think he may have been slightly (temporarily) traumatized by the experience. He marched out to the front desk and told the man working there about the situation. The employee promptly "closed" the hot tub with a sign. But, since the main pool was still cloudy, my son, understandably, didn't want to swim in it anymore either, since he couldn't see the bottom. The hot tub and pool remained in those states. We did not swim the rest of our stay. The pool was indoors, but there was a small outdoor patio attached with a couple of small grills. There were also two second floor guestrooms which overlooked the pool. Breakfast: Most of the "problems" with breakfast were due to other guests - they were messy and rude, so it would have been difficult for the staff to clean up quickly and constantly enough to keep everything perfect. The breakfast attendants weren't the same each day, and some were more ambitious than others when cleaning up the floor, wrappers, spills, etc. All breakfast items were not always available. There was orange juice and apple juice, but the apple juice ran out and wasn't available for the end of our stay -- water was dispensed from the spout instead. Another guest was saying his relative works at a different Best Western location, and corporate "rations" the amount of food they can order/use. Maybe that was the case here, too. But, it was disappointing to enter the breakfast area and find many items missing. The eggs (when available) were very plain. Some add-ins like cheese, veggies, and/or salsa would be excellent for people who don't want to add meat. The selection of pastries was a bit thin, but the waffles were excellent, and didn't stick to the irons. There was waffle batter and toppings, as well as instant oatmeal and cold cereal, available each day. Most of the time, eggs and sausage patties were available, too. The yogurt and fruit varieties were well chosen, but ran out quickly each day. The early birds get the worms, I guess. Fitness Center: The exercise area was small, but it had nice, functioning equipment and a wall of mirrors. There was also a water fountain, and (usually) plenty of towels. The room was also usually very clean -- when it was messy, we could tell it was recently done, likely by other guests. There was no dedicated place to put used towels, so we took the ones we used to our room and left them on the floor in the bathroom. Guest Room: Our room was tidy and clean. It had a current feel. There was some slight paint chipping and peeling in the bathroom, but it looked recent, and there was a painter working in the hotel, so it didn't bother me. Our room didn't have face cloths, which I thought was odd. We didn't need them, so we didn't ask for any. We also declined housekeeping each day, so I don't know if it's a regular practice. The air conditioner worked well and quietly kept our room cool. The mini-fridge and microwave were both clean and worked correctly. We were on the first floor. Our room's large window looked into the parking lot, and could be slid open. There was no screen, so we were able to pass our luggage into or out of the hotel via the window! Maybe we could have climbed in or out, too, but the air conditioner/heater unit stuck out inside and out, so we didn't want to take a chance of damaging it just to do something silly. The door to our room had a handle which had to be pulled up to open only, instead of down. Not a big deal, but it was something we kept forgetting, and we would (momentarily) think our door was stuck! Staff: All of the employees we met were extremely friendly and nice. They all seemed to actually enjoy their jobs, and care about the guests. It was a very pleasant environment. Exterior: The parking lot was well-lit and spacious. The hotel had blue-purple lights on the walls, and looked cool at night. The exterior side doors had "use room key to enter" panels, but none were actually ever locked. I would have felt a bit more secure if they had been functional. Location: The hotel is located in between an Arby's and small Subway restaurant, with a Dollar General right next to the Subway. It is on Milan Road which is a very long street, and there are lots of restaurant and other businesses nearby. The hotel was also about 25 minutes from Cedar Point.

We made arrangements on the phone with Cindy to reserve all 6 motel rooms, the pavilion and the attached 3 BR house. The motel rooms: Each had something different to offer. All were very large. All had fridge, microwave, full size drip coffee maker and 2 queen size beds. Room 2 had a kitchenette and room 6 has a sliding glass door with a small patio and view of the sunset. We were there in the very beginning of the season and the motel rooms were a bit "musty". We live near the ocean so we knew what to expect when a property is closed up for a period of time and brought some diffusers and essential oils. This made everything perfect. I imagine as the season rolls along, the musty-ness goes away. The towels and linens were great and the pillows very comfortable What to bring when staying in the motel: coffee and condiments, coffee cups, hair dryer, cooler for ice or bring some extra plastic ice cube trays, bathrobe. You don't get the fancy, extra swag that you get at the high priced hotels. The attached house: All linens and towels were provided and checked on every day. Plates, glassware, cups, pots and pans, silverware, drip coffee maker, tea kettle, and a few serving pieces are provided. There is one ice cube tray in the full size refrigerator. Full size washer and dryer. We bought bags of ice at the marina down the street. There is also a growing (I'm assuming) amount of stuff that people leave. Foil, baggies, laundry detergent, paper plates, paper towels ice etc. I wouldn't depend on those things, but maybe call Cindy the day before you leave to see what's there so you don't drag it there. We liked having a large cooler for beer and extra ice. There is a gas grill and a picnic table on one patio, an enclosed porch with seating and an outside porch with seating. Also a nice size "mud room" with lots of storage and places to hang jackets and purses. Beach chairs are provided down at the beach as well as fire wood for fires. There is plenty of green space for out door games. The pavilion: This is the jewel of the property!!!!!! IT IS STUNNING! Inside has a bar and full size refrigerator. And plenty of room for tables. We set up our food tables (3 6 ft tables) and there was still plenty of room. I couldn't tell if there was AC. The temp was very comfortable. This building has a covered outside area that comfortably seats at least 30 people. Round black wrought iron tables and chairs. About 6 or 7 low top tables that could seat 5. Below the covered space is an open deck that had a mixture of low top tables and high tip pub wrought iron tables and chairs. Could seat another 30 people at least. THE BEST PART OF THIS AREA IS THE NIGHTLY SUNSET. THERE ARE NO WORDS!!!!! Cindy, our hostess: Where would we be without her????? I hate to think. She was engaging from the get go in December. She helped us narrow down the caterer, rolled along when we changed the guests in the motel rooms, we changed the number of nights several times and was at our beck and call the minute we arrived. If she was leaving for the day, she would say "just give me a call if you need anything"!!!! She helped us haul all of our stuff down to the pavilion for the celebration, and kept the trash cans from overflowing. She did everything very unobtrusively. Hardly knew she was there. Cindy was so friendly and helpful. A true hostess! We have decided to replicate this trip (without the funeral part!) every 2 years to meet up with friends and relatives. Can't beat the value, accommodations or especially the hospitality! Would live here year round if I could!

Knowing that economy was a priority, I was anxious - but we loved it here! The private beach is amazing, and the HUGE yard/property was beautiful. A fire pit and a pile of wood was even available for our use, along with plenty of lawn/beach chairs. This is a traditional "motel" (Not hotel) setup, but with only 6 units, it felt more private, and with much cleaner and larger rooms than normal, and homey accoutrements, not to mention a full size refrigerator, which was invaluable to my family of 4, since we were there for 4 days. We spent 2 days on the beach relaxing and 2 at Cedar Point, which is less than a half hour away. Lastly, Patti, the owner, with whom you personally deal throughout your entire experience, is a delight! Friendly, unpretentious, thorough, and obviously caring. If/when we ever come back this way- we will call Patti. For the location, beach, and local family ownership- I can't imagine more bang for the buck.

Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! On the Choice Hotels website it was $168 (AAA rate) for a room with two doubles, or $190 for a king room with sofabed. Hotwire assigned us a room with two doubles, but I called the hotel and they were able to switch us to a king room, which was great; we had two kids, who took the sofabed, and two adults. We actually had a river view which was nice too, we checked in around 1230am though after Cedar Point so I didn't realize it until the next day. Overall the hotel is quiet at night except our room was by the stairs, so there was a little noise, and my friend said she heard the trains a few times. Our king bed was super comfortable and her kids said the sofabed was comfortable too. The bathroom was pretty plain but was functional, although the toilet was a little loud. I was impressed by breakfast the next day, as they offered traditional options like donuts and muffins, as well as hot options like eggs, sausage patties, and make-your-own waffles. They even had yogurt and eggs, in a mini fridge. The only thing I can complain about is that the room is a little small - there was only one or two tables left when I went to sit down. Check-in was quick and efficient too, I didn't get the employee's name but she was very professional and chipper, which impressed me especially since it was past midnight at that point. We didn't have any pillows or sheets for the sofabed, but my friend went back downstairs and returned with some. Overall I'd definitely stay here again, it's only about a 15-minute drive from Cedar Point which was convenient ... Originally we had booked a different Comfort Inn, in Fremont, OH (a 40-minute drive from CP) so I'm glad we were able to cancel that reservation and switch to River's Edge.

I went down to their market to purchase a Starbucks Frappucino and noticed that it was expired. I went through the other drinks and found that every single Starbucks drink was expired. Out of curiosity, I looked at the other items and found that almost everything was expired by at least a month, some items expired in 2025! I was pretty disgusted so I went to the nearby Dollar Tree to grab some snacks. My television caused problems all night-it wouldn't turn on, but then it would but the remote wouldn't work. After three separate attempts to get my TV working, I gave up. The next morning at breakfast, I noticed some expired items as well. Some of the creamers near the coffee area were expired, the hard boiled eggs were shriveled and slimy, and the bread was stale. It didn't surprise me, considering the entire store front was expired as well. I think the worst part was as I was checking out. There was a cockroach in the bathroom. I went downstairs to let the front desk know, and went down to the coffee area to get one more coffee (minus the expired creamer) and as I was walking past the desk to leave, I overheard a woman, who I am assuming was management, say "she's just trying to get a free room, we have no cockroaches." Clearly she was talking about me, which was the final nail for me. To shrug off a very real complaint and claim that I was a liar definitely leads me to believe that management is fully aware of what is going on inside their building, they just don't care. I will never stay there again when I'm in town.

Room was very clean and updated although probably could use another update in the next couple of years. Place was also very quiet but didn't seem very busy at all. The man who checked me in was very friendly but the Manager who was with him and I believe was training him wasn't very friendly. He probably shouldn't be in the business. Heard him complaining about firing people. Breakfast was decent but unfortunately there were Fruit flies all over. Seemed clean minus that though. An "incidental deposit" of $100 wasn't a deposit at all...it was a fee we were charged, probably to jack up the room rate for a Saturday night stay. At 5:00 p.m. check-in, we were assigned a room that hadn't been cleaned yet, so reassigned to a room 3 doors down. Towel bar was falling off the bathroom wall. Towels were thin and some threadbare. Microwave from previous guest hadn't been cleaned, leaving behind smelly food and bugs inside. Unusual streak stains on the bed headboard. Nonfunctional side door keypad, so the door latch was taped over so door wouldn't lock; no security from outside intruders. Elevator quit working for a while. Finding the dirty microwave the morning after staying for 2 nights was the last straw, so I asked to check out without penalty for the 3rd night. Manager said he wouldn't do it. It wasn't until I showed him the photo of the microwave - to which he asked if I wanted the room cleaned - that he agreed to let me out of the pre-charged 3rd night. Why were we precharged anyway? He absolutely refused to give me a paper receipt upon checking out and walked out on me, (would only email it to me) even though the guest in front of me received a paper receipt. I can only hope that we get the refund on our credit card for the 3rd night we didn't stay.
