Shabby but cheap. Clean-ish - if chipped tile and scarred walls are going to bother you then it won't feel clean enough

Let me start by saying I am a long-time Marriott customer with lifetime gold elite status. We have…read morestayed at many different Marriott properties over the years and am sure we will continue to do so. This property, however, fell short of my expectations. There was a major lack of hospitality, which is a very big issue when you're in the hospitality business. It started with the greeting, or should I say, lack of greeting at checkin. They asked my name, looked me up, assigned my room, and sent us on our way. The greeting I'm used to is being called by my name & being thanked for being an elite member. Who doesn't like that little extra effort/ acknowledgment? Then we arrived at our room and saw the extra pillows requested on my reservation were not there. Again, a little thing, but they add up. The room itself was ok. It was a suite so it had the extra seating area which I like. The best thing about the stay was the bed. It was super comfortable! Unfortunately there was an expressway outside our window which made it difficult to sleep at night. The breakfast was at best 'ok'. The set up of the room was strange, with the area for making waffles and getting the other hot foods in a tiny triangle shaped area that couldn't hold more than 2 people comfortably. Wish I had taken a picture. On our 2nd and final morning there, the girl working in this area never got off her phone. She didn't put it down even when people needed her assistance. Were they all bothering her? Checkout was similar to checkin, except the girl working there never even looked up and just nodded her head when I set my key on the counter. Again, a little hospitality goes a long way. Also, the bathroom floor was sticky, and the pool was super cloudy the whole time we were there So we didn't even attempt using it. I'll continue to be a Marriott customer, but sadly, not at this location. 2024-52

We didn't shower there and did not get a good night's sleep thinking about how gross a room we were in. Also, the freeway is right there and is loud.

I've scratched my head for three days, trying to figure out how to rate the Ho Jo's in New Stanton,…read morePA. We called around before heading out to visit Idlewild and Kennywood parks for a 3-day mini-vacation. Turns out the Steeler's training camp (circus) was in town, so most quality (costlier) hotels in the area were already booked. My wife called, booked this one, and cheered herself on for scoring the low cost of $54 per night. So, my quandry is, how do you rate the cheapest of the cheap? Of course, you get what you pay for. So here's what I got: 1. $54/night 2. A clean room with a fairly comfortable bed. Microwave, mini-fridge. Cable TV. Toilet that is so slow flusing you get worried it isn't working. Good shower pressure. Internet worked better after 10 PM than at 9 AM. The room definately needs updating...feels tired...but clean. Slight odor, but not vile. 3. Breakfast of bagels, some fruit, cinnamon swirls, cereal, juice, acceptable coffee. Enough to get the day started. No waffle makers, although it's listed on the website. 4. A pretty unappealing location. Highway noise. A sheetz next door (could be good, in circumstances, I suppose). McD's and Eat N Park across the street. Nothing really appealing in the immediate area. Bordered just enough on feeling skeevy to me...when I found the fitness room locked up (see below), I couldn't even begin to figure out where to go for a run, short of jogging the PA turnpike or I-70 or I-119. 5. No, and I mean NO, ammeneties. Pool? "Closed for repairs". No signs of repairs going on...perhaps terminal. Fitness room? Even bigger joke. The front desk hostess said it was open and working, but when I found it (not marked at all), it was a regular hotel room with beds removed and a treadmill inserted in their place. And it was locked, beyond key-card entry. FAIL. 6 Grounds were kept ok, and the grounds keeper was at work trimming bushes, but it still needed updating. The verdict? We got what we paid for. It was not the greatest, but the beds were comfortable and the price allowed us to allocate our saved money better at the parks. This place probably was the creme de la creme in 1965, but now it needs an Extreme Hotel Makeover. Would I stay again? If I was putting no value in a quality hotel "resort" to bolster the quality of the vacation and just needed a good cheap bed, yes. If I wanted a pool, fitness room, video arcade in a 5-star location, then no, this isn't it for you. But for the $54 you get 54 dollar's worth of...New Stanton, whatever that is.

Another Hotwire purchase, but this one did not fare so well. The night began with an absent desk…read moreclerk. It was late, and I found it very annoying to wait several minutes for the front desk clerk to show up in order to check in, but I failed to see the small sign in the window indicating his return in about 10 minutes. When I inquired about this, I was met with a fairly rude response saying that I should have been able to see said sign. Why work in the hospitality industry if you don't want to be hospitable with clients? Anyway. The room itself was just okay. It did have a mini-fridge, but no other amenities. This was more of a bare bones motel. The breakfast in the morning was advertised prominently on their welcoming sign as being full and deluxe, but it was barely continental. It was so bad, I ate out for breakfast the other three days of my stay. The maid service was good but occurred at irregular times, so you could never quite gauge the appropriate time to return. Fortunately the check-out was the quickest I ever experienced in my life; I completed my business in under a minute, including the time to and from my vehicle. The financial details were as follows: $53/night for 4 nights + $23.59 for booking fees = $235.59 total. An agreeable price for 4 nights, but I really did not feel I was being extended a discount in anyway. In fact, the Priceline regular rate for this hotel, before making any bids, is $42/night. So clearly I was ripped off. But beyond that, the hotel is just not worth paying $53+/night for. I would pass on this place.

From incredible poolside views of the mountains and stuff living in it's green waters, to the comforting feeling of sleeping in human bodily fluids.... this hotel had it all. They even make you feel like your home with complimentary poo stains in the sink where you brush your teeth and clean out your pipe. 4.5 / 5 , lost .5 for continental breakfast which isn't being served. The WiFi didn't work in the hotel, ONLY in the lobby, the key cards were deactivated daily during our 4 day stay, the place reeked I'd regret and bankruptcy. Nothing in the room was clean, the refrigerator door wouldn't open more than four inches. When we'd tried to work it out with management we were told they were at capacity and it wasn't a five star hotel. I'm pretty sure I just asked him for a clean room. Ac was turned off on the third floor hallways, the pool literally had something living in it. Loved the "keep the key away from your wallet or phone, that's why it's deactivating". You should have seen their face where I showed them I hid the second key in the hallway. This place is garbage, Days Inn should be ashamed of its name being attached to it. This place is disgusting, and my only wish is that whoever burnt room 360 to a crisp had a chance to set the rest of it aflame.

The hallways smelled of fish, which originally I thought came from the restaurant/lounge, but the smell never dissipated and the lounge area didn't smell of fish. I will say that the beds were clean. It's always the first thing I check. Don't expect much from the breakfast, it's all frozen and you warm it up yourself in the microwave. Not that I would eat it anyways, the night before while I was trying to get keys, I checked out the breakfast area and found the counters nor batter from the waffle maker had been cleaned up from that morning; this was at 6pm. Again, the beds were clean, but the rest of the hotel is lacking.
