I checked in for three nights but only stayed for two. The hotel was replacing carpeting so I had the displeasure of hearing construction crews rip up and then reinstall carpeting until about 9pm. The construction noise was punctuated by shrill yelling from someone I presume to have been managing the workers. Once construction noise stopped, noise from guests entering and leaving their rooms, knocking on their friends' doors and generally loudness commenced. What upset me most was that the staff weren't honest with me regarding how late workers would be active -- I got repeated, "they won't be working too late."
My first room was dirty with a layer of lint / gunge around the perimeter of the room -- it also included a false eyelash and a penny that weren't picked up by housekeeping staff. I was moved, by the assistant manager, to a room directly across from the 3rd floor elevator. The room was definitely cleaner, however, staff at the hotel visits the 3rd floor early in the morning to retrieve items for breakfast. The problem is the noisy cart they use which makes a racket bumping out of and then back into the elevator. I moved to another room for my second night which had new carpeting -- sorely needed -- however, the security lock was broken so I had to shove a chair against the door handle. Broken security features should be fixed immediately, one, and two, rooms shouldn't be rented if there is a problem.
There was so much noise my second night, I left and checked into another hotel for my third night. I was pretty upset and wrote a detailed review. When I write a review, whether it's positive or negative, I expect it to be posted online. As other positive reviews have already been posted, I contacted Choice to find out what the problem was. I connected with "Byron" who said he couldn't help but would transfer me to someone who could; whatever number he transferred me to, I got a recording which said the call couldn't be connected due to "technical issues." So I call Choice back and never did get to speak to someone else. I will, thus, make it my business to copy and paste this review to as many websites as I can to ensure that my voice is heard.
It is important to know that I travel regularly for business; the econolodge in Johnstown was among the worst three hotels that I've stayed in. Moreover, I'm especially disappointed with Choice's lackluster customer service. read more
