They do tend to be a little pricier then others in town, but they do know what they are doing. I food check other prices in town for service and they were within a few dollars of everyone else. I primarily used then because they installed the unit on the house years ago and they installed a inline whole house filter which I needed service and did not want others to come out and have to possibly charge a second trip for having to order. When our old wood stove (the primary source of heat for our house) broke, we needed a quick replacement. We searched the internet and shopped a number of places for a new wood stove, and finally wound up at EconoAir in Bakersfield. Our salesman (Al D) spent a lot of time with us, going over the various different models and options, was exceptionally patient with our many questions, and gave us great information and advice. There was no 'high-pressure' sales pitch - he handled the sale and scheduled delivery for us, and we left the store very happy with the whole experience. When we found a factory defect after the stove was delivered and installed, we called the store (honestly expecting a hassle), and were very pleasantly surprised to find ourselves dealing directly with the store owner, Gary. He exceeded our expectations, and worked with us to resolve the issue, ultimately replacing the stove that had the mechanical problem. The personal attention and great service we got from EconoAir Bakersfield really made this whole experience a very positive one - you definitely should make sure this store is on your short-list. The system won't allow negative stars so it gets only one today. I would do business with almost anyone else if I could. I bought an insert in 2013 and to keep the warranty intact it requires an annual service, for a fee of course. There service is terrible. Every year it needs a light bulb replaced, every year I tell them when I book the appointment and every year the technician arrives without bulbs. He does the required service but the bulbs require completely removing the inside parts. This means he has to return and tear it all apart again. Today was another one of those days. The appointment was made about a month ago and again he arrives with no mention of the need for bulbs in his paperwork. I will try another service next year if I can. Buy elsewhere if you can. read more

They are thieves! We called them to check on our 4 year old AC unit that was blowing warm air. Econo air came out to our home for an evaluation for $90. We were then told that we had a leak in our evap coil but never did he mention about adding freon. So we scheduled for them to come out and repair the leaky coil (from our understanding). After a $560 bill we assumed everything was fixed and told is we were good to go. Econo air then called 2 days later that we still needed to repair the evap coil and was given a quote of $1000. We asked how much the coil cost and they said $150. So basically $850 is for labor for 5 hours! We were floored. So basically, we paid $560 to add freon and they are now charging an extra $1000 to repair the evap coil (which we thought was already taken care of the first time). Very sneaky this econo air company. read more

I bought a fireplace insert last March and I had my choice of waiting until May for the front plate that I wanted or taking an alternate until mine came in. I opted for the immediate install so that I could start using my fireplace immediately. And then Covid hit, and I didn't feel comfortable having anyone in my home. I finally called after Christmas Eve and they have been especially wonderful to work with...especially Pat. My salesperson had retired, but she was able to find my paperwork. She checked the warehouse and found my cover plate....but she checked twice because she wanted to be sure. Pat told me that if they didn't still have it she would order another one-no problem! The second person she talked to found it! They even sent out an installer on New Year's Eve by 11:00 when they closed at noon. I am so impressed with this company and their service and employees. From start to finish I have dealt with prompt, efficient, and courteous employees. I truly feel valued as a customer. I highly recommend this company! read more

A/C went out Tuesday, Greg was here within a few hours, we picked a unit & it was installed Thursday. Great team came out, did the job professionally and kept us in the loop. Then they cleaned up (vacuumed.) By 2 pm new AC was keeping us cool. Great service, no "up selling," no pressure. More importantly they worked with us on finance. Gave the parts department all of the information necessary to order me a part for a furnace. They "found" the part several days later (turns out they gave me some generic part that does not fit my furnace that can be found at any Home Depot or Lowe's), and said they had to "special order" it. When the part arrived, it was the wrong part but too late in the day to try and return it. My employee, using the same model numbers from the furnace that I supplied to Econo-Air, managed to find the correct part online in less than 2-3 minutes. I attempted to return the incorrect part to Econo-Air and they refuse to give me a refund based on their "no refund on special orders or electronic parts" policy. I informed them that this policy would normally only apply if they supplied me with the correct part to begin with, at which point the employee informed me that I would have to return to the store in several days to speak with the owner. I didn't think it was blowing well, I guess I should have asked the guy what he was here to service, he serviced my heater who in their right freakin mind has the heater serviced in over 100 degree weather during the summer!?!, he then calls the office who tells him to tell me this will count as both of my services... Econo Air installed our Harmon pellet stove 2.6 yrs ago. During installation, our deck was gouged and the whole thing rattled. That was not important per Al. Recently, it stopped working and we called for repair. (Naturally, the warranty was over.) Had to wait over a week for service. Temps down to 33. Verbal quotes were incorrect. Seems original installation was lacking in a few areas per the service tech. He repaired them. We were charged $187.50 for the first hr., $89.00 for the 2nd hr and $179.00 for the trip charge. $786.00 total. Seems excessive to me. It needed a 20 volt igniter $112.50. We also bought a rail kit for cleaning the stove. Econo Air wants to do the cleaning/ service themselves for an additional exorbitant charge per year. The staff is unprofessional, (very slow, didn't know pricing etc.) I would never recommend Econo Air to anyone for anything. read more

I will never call this company again. After waiting over 6 hours for someone to come out, the "repair man" told me I just needed R-410A (free-on). When I asked if he added it, he said he was not authorized to add it. I said I would paid for the repair but he said he could not do it today he would have to come back out after the office had authorized it. He was only sent out to diagnose the problem. Would like to leave less than 1 star. We had them come out a little more than a month ago. The fireplace was not working. They said it needed to be cleaned once a year, even though they never told us that. We have 3 fireplaces, not put in by them. They were not willing to clean the other fireplaces because they were not apparently up to their standards. We had Flameco come out, and they cleaned the fireplace they put in, and also the other one they didn't put in...and they wouldn't charge us. All fireplaces work, BUT the Econaire fireplace. It went out again, and they send out the same tech, who "guesses" it could be one of two things. I have lost all confidence in Econoaire. Definitely call Flameco! read more

We purchased an entirely new AC and furnace system from Econo air a few years ago. This company has gone down the tubes. They are dishonest and just out to make a buck. They sold us a filter that is a piece of junk, they did the work without ever having turned in the permit paperwork, they never tested the vent system for leaks as they were supposed to, and Gary Flanagan has been so dishonest every time a relative has gone into the store to talk about a price on a fireplace insert. He told her a price one day and when she went back a week later he didn't remember her, and the price mysteriously went up buy several hundred dollars. His son Greg is "all over it" until the sale is made, then once that's done, you can't get help for any issues to save your life (and the installation wasn't even completed yet.) servicing prices for the maintenance of the system have gone up from what was quoted to me when we bought the system. Every time I've had an issue and needed service right away, they are less than interested in getting here in a timely manner. Today I called for the last time. I figured since they sold me this junk that they might know how to fix it, and check to make sure that the crappy filter my husband ended up disconnecting wasn't somehow causing an issue. I explained that my less that 5 year old system isn't working and that my house is 85°. They couldn't come out for over a day! I ended up calling "Precision air & refrigeration" @ 979-8336 & spoke with Pete, best decision I could have made! read more

Be aware that you will be charged for parts that the technicians "think" need to be replaced. After the last $500 charge earlier this year, the heating unit is not working properly and has the same problem! I'm resigned to the fact that I bought a lemon unit, and Econo Air techs don't have the knowledge to fix it - but will be happy to show up to change parts and be on their way.... read more

Just wanted to give a shout out to Econo Air! We just had a gas insert installed. We had purchased a floor model to save $. When the installers arrived, they determined that the unit would not work because the remote and thermostat weren't compatible. I really appreciate the installer working with the unit sales manager to make us happy. We got a brand new, upgraded model for our original agreed upon price. Valley Air District is offer $1500 rebates to those that move from traditional fire places to these gas burning units. The deal could not have been better :) read more

Econ air recently installed a brand new heater, after testing the old one which was making a noise; they found the heater to be faulty, ignition switch and blower bad. Could have prevented a fire hazard. They were nice, efficient, came out next day with new heater and installed without any problems. Not sure why other reviews were bad, but our service was very good. Great attitude and very professional! Don't go right now to buy parts at Econo Air. It is pretty sad that the two lovely ladies in the back whom are very busy have to be suffering with no air conditioning. What does this say about the owner of this company? To me it says that he doesn't care about his employees. I bet if it were his office or the office for the ladies upfront he would get it repaired right away. I have nothing bad to say about the two lovely ladies in the back. They seem to be the only two working their butts off and having to do it in a room with no air conditioning, it's sad. I was very disappointed with Econo Air. I wrote to them to see if they could install a Lennox heater I had bought, and if not to steer me to someone who could. They did not respond to my email. I followed up with a phone call and was curtly told they only did installs on units purchased from them, and would not refer me to someone who could, even though they obviously could have. I made a call to them to speak to someone about adding Solar to our home, this was Greg in sales, after a little while on the phone with him, giving him some info on our home, Greg was VERY VERY unhelpful, thought for a moment he wasn't there, didn't want to set apptm to come out and look at the house and give us a bid, even made that comment to him on the phone that he seemed uninterested in our business...then he made apptm for 1:30 on sat......at 1:30 on sat got a voice mail from Greg....blowing me off, saying another company could give us a bid and they would be about the same, But if I wanted him to still come out to call him....But it couldn't be that day (sat), cause he was to busy getting ready to go on vacation.....So if Econo Air was the BEST in town for Solar, I WOULD NOT go with them....if that's how they run their business I will go else where....And we did...Sorry Sales Rep :-( read more
