I hired 4 Elements Landscaping to do a major redesign of my garden. The owner of the company seemed…read moreto understand what I was looking for, and the design he came up with seemed appealing. However, once the project was completed a number of deficiencies were noted. Each of the 5 spot lights installed burned out within 3 - 4 months. A number of the pavers became loose within weeks of installation; some on the stairs which posed a real danger. It is my understanding that an inadequate sealant was used at the time of installation; however this has been repaired (hopefully they will not become loose again). In an area where landscape rocks form a border, not enough material was purchased, and what was left are unsightly gaps of dirt along the fence. The bench was stained without the wood having been properly cured, and an milky film (called blushing) appeared within days of installation. The owner has said he will fix this, but thus far has not. The worst deficiency was the use of our new cedar fence as one side of a garden bed. Anyone with proper carpentry expertise would know that you cannot pile dirt against a fence as it will rot the wood over time. I feel that the project was taking longer than anticipated and therefore corners were cut, or alternatively there is a lack of expertise and knowledge on the part of the owner. Therefore, I would not recommend this company.

Rick took the time to ask questions and was understanding in my vision of what I wanted to do with the vegetable garden. And he was able to work within my expected budget for the landscape project. Other contractors had only took a quick look and rarely followed up when I had questions. The project had met most of my expectations. When the project had some bumps, Rick was able to address my concerns. My suggestion when undergoing a landscaping project is to expect delays (especially during peak season). Originally, I was quoted for the project to be done within 5-7 days, but ended up being three weeks. But Rick was able to keep communications open to address the delays and reasons behind it. Also, the carpenters contractors that were hired to build the raised garden seemed to have rushed the wood encasing at which some parts were not perfectly aligned. Overall, we were happy with the project and I am making good use to growing our fruits and vegetables.
